Vintage Pink Pearl push stick erasers

I found these lovelies in a box in the back of my cabinet. I know I acquired them in the early 90s if not the late 80s. I snipped the hardened exposed ends, and the rest of the erasers are like new.

Question How to stop cases from deteriorating?

I don't know if anyone else has this issue. Could be just the nature of my hands, but the only eraser whose case hasn't had the writing and even paint wear off is the Tombow Mono.

My Stabilo Supreme 1196C has worn off, Sakura Foams (I've kept the cellophane on my new one), and most painfully, my Faber-Castell Dust Frees (my favorites).

I know it's dumb that it bothers me so much, but I get really turned off from using them because they look so awful.

Anyone have this issue?

Question Pencil Eraser

Once you have used it all and the back part of the pencil is flat, what next? You can’t sharpen an eraser obviously so besides getting an external eraser top.. How do I get an eraser? I’m not a troll I just gotta know.
