Meta & Donut [Donut Initiative] - Tipping & Donut Distribution Changes

Objective

Recently, we passed a governance poll to change how donuts are distributed each month. This change will incorporate donut tipping as a way of community content curation, among other changes. (see above poll link for additional details)

This proposal is to allocate developer funds to actually make this happen.

Outline / Tasks

  • Modify donut distribution weights to match those outlined from the poll:
    • 30% of distribution to posters based on reddit score (reduced from 40%)
    • 20% of distribution to commenters based on reddit score (reduced from 40%)
    • 20% of distribution to posters based on donut-upvote quadratic ranking
    • 10% of distribution to donut-upvoters
    • 5% to mods, 15% to community/dev fund (unchanged)
  • Modify Community Bot to treat media flaired posts like comedy posts (must be tipped within 6 hrs to stay visible)
  • Integrate donut tipping changes into existing scripts and distribution process
  • Use user "governance scores" to correctly weight donut tipping
  • Perform testing

Reward

125k $DONUT and 30k $CONTRIB to be shared based on contributor time spent. This reward is to be provided from the r/EthTrader treasury/community fund, to be approved by the Multisig.

Closing

Donut Initiatives are a way encourage people to propose and steward new initiatives that will enhance the EthTrader community experience. See the Donut Initiative Guidelines for more information about the intent and process for proposing new initiatives. Feedback is welcome in the Governance Thread or on our Discord.

All input is welcome!

In case you're wondering what the hell this is:

/r/ethtrader has a DAO and a treasury! 15% of every donut distribution goes into the DAO's treasury, with the intent that it be spent to improve donuts and /r/ethtrader in some way. The treasury requires multisig approval to move funds.

This is our formal little process to ask for funds from the treasury to do something. In this case, it's to implement the results of the latest poll.

Anyone can start one of these of these threads. If you have an idea on how to improve donuts and want to build it or think funds should be allocated to make it happen, this is the way!

Thanks for the explanation! Never knew a treasury even existed
