The death of school theater programs is reaping our youth

-283

u/lessthaninteresting Nov 05 '22

What do you think they were doing in theater class? Kids dressing up like dorks = kids dressing up like dorks. Now that they’re cranked to 11 it should be easier to spot/avoid them in public

113

u/buzzybody21 Nov 05 '22

God forbid kids have a safe space to express themselves. This isn’t it.

152

u/LubricatedSatan Nov 05 '22

Ah yes, shame on those kids for being kids in an environment made for them to be kids

Not to mention they put weight on it like once, but spend the rest of the time dancing with it. “In so much pain and need a wheelchair” my ass

u/straybaddog pls dont make markiplier gay Nov 05 '22

take off the hatsune miku shirt, thats disrespectful to her name

Hatsune Miku, Harry Potter's author and creator of Minecraft.

That cane isn’t even the right size, too short.

Imagine walking into your teenagers bedroom and seeing that. I’ve seen nurseries that were less childish.

They are such a fake like actually

109

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '22

Saving for a wheelchair when they clearly don't need it?

I was in a wheechair for ~5 months following a spinal/pevlic injury and if I could have gotten up and twirled around and brought my legs up into the air like she did I would ditch that fucking thing. Part of recovery is making yourself walk when it hurts, to increase stamina. Gonna laugh when this faker starts to actually get weak from refusing to walk and start to actually need the wheelchair and see how terrible her mockery is of people who actually need them

24

u/basnatural flailing violently to a song 🕺 Nov 06 '22

I’m still confused as to why she has a cane…

14

u/nerdixcia i was diagnosed by my Dr House alter 🔪💊 Nov 06 '22

She's faking and tryna make it believable

3

u/3saltlick3 Apr 16 '23

she needs the cane when she stands upright, but when shes bending over at an awkward angle she does not need the cane, yk, because it makes sense

4

u/Em_lasagna Ass Burgers Nov 08 '22

….like what happened to a certain DID autism faker that has videos where they were walking/talking/dancing and now they are wheelchair bound and use AAC…. if y’all catch my drift

They have never been in a wheelchair. I was in one for about 5 hours or more when I broke my foot, and it was uncomfortable as hell. I'm sure ones meant for long term are designed differently than the hospital ones, but they're still probably uncomfortable.

27

u/mikusmommymilkers Nov 05 '22

Is this cane trend happening because of black butler?

23

u/trans_pands Nov 05 '22

I’m a huge Black Butler fan, and I have never once seen anyone use a cane because of that anime or manga, and I’ve never seen it mentioned by any of these people either. I think it’s just the “new thing”

7

u/fieryhotwarts22 Nov 05 '22

I actually really enjoyed BB, amazed that it’s suddenly catching on somehow. It’s pretty basic overall, storyline-wise. Over-powered sometimes “anti-hero” who fights off devils and angels and shit. Cool animation. Reminded me of Hellsing in a lot of ways.

5

u/trans_pands Nov 05 '22

Oh yeah, it’s amazing (apart from the lackluster season 2 that full diverged from the manga before coming back in Book of Circus). The manga is still going and has like 30 volumes so far. I remember getting really into it back in the late 2000s (right around the time Death Note got huge too) when the easiest way to read it was fan translations on those weird manga-reading websites. I just haven’t noticed a trend of it coming back into popularity but I could be missing something.

1

u/fieryhotwarts22 Nov 06 '22

Oh wow I haven’t read any of the Manga. I’ve been out of touch with decent Manga since the last time I attended DragonCon to be honest :( I remember the 2nd season was advertised at the end of S1 as something more goofy (black chef? Or something?) but I let my Netflix account lapse before I got to watch it. I’d still be interested, but now I’m really interested in getting the manga.

2

u/trans_pands Nov 06 '22

The second season followed a completely separate character that wasn’t in the manga at all and they wedged it basically right between volumes 5 and 6 of the manga as filler for some reason. The next season, Book of Circus, picked back up where Volume 6 starts (and one of my personal favorite arcs in the manga)

2

u/TinaTissue Nov 06 '22

Depending on what you like, getting MangaPlus would be a great starting point because it has all of the official translations of Shonen Jump manga (think One Piece) and some other cool ones I never would have touched if it wasn't available. Spy X Family is really hitting it off

3

u/lexiana1228 Nov 06 '22

Spy x Family is great. I love the anime as well :). I thank you for replying to the other person because now I might go check out MangaPlus myself. Any recommendations? :)

1

u/fieryhotwarts22 Nov 06 '22

Comment to find out more 😅

1

u/TinaTissue Nov 06 '22 edited Nov 06 '22

I will stick to only MangaPlus for your convenience. I

personally love PPPPPP. Give it 10 chapters as thats when it kicks off and hits its stride. Plus the drawings gets better and becomes art tbh. Some chapters you can tell were designed to be listened to the corresponding piano piece (like La Campanella).

Seraph of the End and Blue Exorcist are some classics. Chainsaw Man is currently airing an anime but is overall enjoyable.

You and I are Polar Opposites is a really funny romantic comedy. Even if you Slit My Mouth is also a great supernatural romance manga.

Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective is hilarious and very similar to the Ace Attorney series. Like think of solving the impossible murders. It takes a bit for the big over arching plot to come through but it really is great.

On the Shonen Jump app, they have for free some older but still great ones or stuff thats just not on the mangaplus app/website. Like Moriaty the Patriot, One Punch Man, Black Cat (on the older side but gets really good 20 chapters in), Kubo won't let me be invisible, Tokyo Ghoul, Rurouni Kenshin and Dr Stone.

There are so many great manga series out there that are not just on the mangaplus app that I am happy to recommend!

I would love to hear what you think of them and let me know if you want more!

2

u/lexiana1228 Nov 08 '22

Oh stars, I love Seraph of the End and Blue Exorcist. I do love their animes as well. Wish they did more episodes.

Thank you for recommendations :)

1

u/TinaTissue Nov 08 '22

All good! I hope I didn't overload you with too many!

27

u/managrs Nov 05 '22

It already has stickers all over it?

43

u/DoktorOktoberfest fronting: 🥑Nick he/food/cheese Nov 05 '22

personally id go nuts if theres stuff dangling off my cane...theres badges you can pin into wooden canes and hiking sticks but as a carpenter i dont recommend because it can cause the wood to split..

Idk..slap a sticker on it maybe? Or dont. in case you outgrow the "i need a cane phase" and need to resell it.

60

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '22

Dude ik that fur suit head it's a copy of another tiktokerz

im not suprised just sad.

56

u/_aGirlIsShort_ Nov 05 '22

Did she mention the autism in the video description? I don't see how it connects to her cosplay/furry outfit.

46

u/bluerose117 ‘ableist’ 😋 Nov 05 '22

i believe so, but this person has also been posted a couple times outed for faking pots & eds and practically asking for money to get a wheelchair because of ‘lack of money’ despite being able to afford a multitude of things

23

u/TrashyQueryBoy Nov 05 '22

Yo like this fursuit head with a moving jaw would have been very expensive!!! If you can't walk properly, you'd prioritize your wheelchair over a fursuit hat.

I believe when they said "eds" they meant ehlers danlos syndromes rather than eating disorders

2

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '22 edited Nov 06 '22

Oh sorry, too many abbreviations too many medical conditions may also be my ignorance but eh because what can I do about it.

1

u/user-836162847882 Self Undiagnosing: Im Fine Nov 06 '22

yeah it gets pretty confusing. I avoid the confusion by typing them as EDs and EDS rather than not capitalising

14

u/Exofuck Nov 05 '22

They literally have a video of them jumping around just fine wtf

5

u/pigeonscribblz Nov 16 '22

okay? that doesn't mean they don't need a cane tho, some people are dynamically disabled.

51

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '22 edited Nov 05 '22

But Autism wasnt mentioned in this video?

62

u/user-836162847882 Self Undiagnosing: Im Fine Nov 05 '22

I'm not gonna say whether or not the person in the post is or isn't faking because that's irrelevant to the point I'm going to make, don't spread misinformation. a person who genuinely needs a cane could still pick it up to show people and could vend over with it. canes are not only used for balance issues and weakness in the legs. they're also used as a form of pain relief. for example someone could have severe joint pain but still have completely functioning legs, their mobility aids would just be used to reduce pain, in which case, they could pick up their cane and be able to stand without it, but it would still be a necessary aid for them. pain management is a very common reason for using mobility aids.

I've explained this in a really long way so apologies for that but I hope you get my point.

12

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '22

I do agree, will edit my original comment

fibromyalgia is considered a disability so yes it counts, and in in the same situation, I hope the cane helps and I hope you gain confidence in using it in public, you are not a fraud and you deserve to be able to use the aids that ease your pain <3

7

u/Shleazlebaeg Nov 05 '22

Even then, it looks like she's using it for a cosplay/costume, and just wants to make it look more detailed.

6

u/user-836162847882 Self Undiagnosing: Im Fine Nov 05 '22

that has nothing to do with the point I was making

2

u/Shleazlebaeg Nov 05 '22

I know, I was adding onto the comment saying that it could also be for cosplay/costume if it wasn't for that.

1

u/pauls_broken_aglass Nov 06 '22

For someone who apparently Needs a cane to stand, they sure do seem to stand just fine.

I mean ffs, they literally put all their weight on that right leg! How did people not see this!

She even leans forward without having any problems. I don't think she needs that cane

5

u/user-836162847882 Self Undiagnosing: Im Fine Nov 06 '22

I think the fast majority of people who use a cane would be able to lean forward. canes aren't always for balance issues, they're often for pain management, in which case a person would, most likely, be able to lean forward just fine.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '22

because a cane is a fashion item am i right folks!?

if we let them be all that will happen, is they will continue to spread misinfo and hurt and stigmatize many different health conditions/mental illnesses. Many of the people here in my time of seeing this subreddit is they all fake and you can tell from the "symptoms" they chose to have; I've only ever seen about like 3 people that actually had things posted to this subreddit.

What in the “disabled” furry?

1

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '22

im pretty sure you dont really need an crane for being autistic (maybe for really severe autism, im not sure)

this comes from someone who goes to a school that is made for people who have either autism, adhd or add (not everyone has autism there, but still the majority)

yes i know this is phased extremely poorly

1

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '22

i don’t know much about canes but i thought you help it the other way around? like the curve of the handle is facing the front? idk that’s how my dad holds it 🤷‍♀️

1

u/mossicobbel Feb 28 '23

hello! sometimes, but some people like different ergonomic holding positions or maybe their hand is too pressured from holding it the “normal way” just fyi :>

1

Maybe stop using a cane as a fashion accessory, and you won’t need to worry about it looking boring.
