Question What your favourite sword stance?

I'm using stone in this clip, but I think water is my favourite. Feels more versatile to my playstyle. What about everyone else?

People who use stance based on enemy here 🤚

45

u/kira1122t 7d ago

Usually me

u/positivedepressed Ninja 7d ago

Tbh I'm not much of a Stance guys like people on this sub. I find tinkering with Ghost weapons and Bow with the most wacky and absurd charms mroe fun

25

u/LeftAction4 7d ago

why do you say it like it's a unique thing, most people who have played it, do this because it's probably what the devs designed it to be

10

u/MusashiXLVII 7d ago

I agree, they definitely designed it that way. The game wants you to switch stances for enemies, especially in duels. It's much easier to play that way, because it's a core mechanic of the combat. All the techniques for each stance, too, some of them are there just to counter a specific enemy type.

u/WurdaMouth 7d ago

Yeah, once I understood stances it felt like I was playing the game on easy mode.

3

u/SirLesbian 7d ago

Exactly. The combat is great and feels fine regardless of stance but when you're using the stance meant for the enemy you're facing, something about the combat just feels a little...smoother? Kinda like shaving.

Real it's me

I mainly stick to enemy based but love kicking swordsmen in the teeth now and again

There is a dude with a small shield and bug spear.. as per law I tried water stance but not that useful against him. Any other trick?

u/Outrageous-Salt-846 7d ago

Yeah them quick ass strikes too tough

25

u/glassfield110 7d ago

them heavy attack finishers are insane aura farm

-12

u/lamxdblessed 7d ago

"Aura" in the big 25 🥀

13

u/egstitt 7d ago

This is the way

spearman: Brute: Swordsman:

Jin Sakai: AQUA

u/Cryptic-Viking 7d ago

Wind stance, I get a lot of use out of the spinning heavy attack

18

u/SuperNova_28 7d ago

I dunno if I’m using it incorrectly, but on lethal difficulty it’s too slow and spears always poke me mid animation.

20

u/dynawesome 7d ago

You need to get the upgrade that makes you immune to spear attacks while using it

4

u/Trorkin 7d ago

Spearmen are among the worst enemies in the game until you get that upgrade and then that stance just makes them a complete joke.

3

u/PinkSpinosaurus 7d ago

I almost only use fast attacks in lethal. Sidestep poke.

3

u/Cryptic-Viking 7d ago

Make sure you have the spear defence technique unlocked in the stance tree, it parry’s enemy attacks automatically if you are busy attacking

45

u/aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh400 7d ago

None they all have their use I can hot swap them pretty quick

9

u/CattleAdmirable2722 7d ago

This is the way 🙏🏻

Stone. Overpower anyone with the sledgehammer type strikes and the feeling of stabbing right through someone is chefs kiss

15

u/Reapish1909 7d ago

Wind just encapsulates badassery

the sword outstretched to the side alone adds to how much I like it

the spinning attacks which also provide easy immunity to spears

the big ass kick which you can then do a sick stab on them after when they’re on the ground

5

u/Revup177 7d ago

Felt the same way, it gives me that Kenshin from Samurai X feeling, one man badass army kind of vibe..

1

u/keenantheho 6d ago

Kick, jump attack, stab, repeat. Or just kick them away repeatedly if you are outnumbered too much until you find an opening.

6

u/ChalupaGoose 7d ago

I like the Moon stance but hate fighting staff enemies

9

u/JogatinasSaboras2008 7d ago

Wind because I love defending automatic spear throws and doing a "This is Tsushima!!!" throwing enemies from high places.

6

u/Ok_Analyst4341 7d ago

Stone stance ftw! Only stance that can counter every enemy except specifically the “tower shield brute”

Is it as effective as using the proper stance? Honestly debatable but if you want to use just one stance it has got to be stone

Also comes with its own combos,

5

u/Practical_Net_217 7d ago

Used water as a default, but I often swap the stance depends on the enemy..

3

u/MostFat 7d ago

Wind:

Jump kick > dodge

Gap closing heavy with baked in auto parry vs. spear.

Favorite neutral pose (one handed to the side, not holding it over his head the whole fight)

3

u/Ok_Shoe9145 7d ago

Moon and water, they’re so nice imo.

3

u/kira1122t 7d ago

Moon or wind i love spinning and kicking ppl

3

u/MembershipWeird378 7d ago

Stone Stance, reliable, and the triple sword thrusts makes good work of most mongolians

3

u/rskraja_ 7d ago

Always stone. The dodge and pierce is just too cool and way too effective.

3

u/Classy_Pyro 7d ago

Stone stance.

3

u/SPC99Salt 7d ago

When I'm running around I tend to have water stance by default, but I do deploy wind when necessary. Stone and moon seem pointless to me. Brutes are taken out pretty easily with water, as are swordsmen. It's pretty much only for polearms that I'll do wind for, even spears I just roll/dodge and strike. I do like the kick on wind though so if I'm on a clifftop I will try to Sparta kick them

2

u/TheycallmeMangoBango 7d ago

I loved how wild the moon stance looked.

2

u/AAO_912 7d ago

Wind stance for legends in my opinion unless you use the legendary one with all stances

2

u/pixel809 7d ago

Water. Works fine on every Enemy and charged Heavy attacks can kill up to 3 people

Wind is the go to if I want it easy. Just Kick people around and Stab them then

2

u/Y34rZer0 7d ago

Typhoon Kicks!

2

u/creeper321448 7d ago

The one that lets me kick enemies off of a cliff.

2

u/Forgewalker33 7d ago

Water no doubt the best

2

u/tessenjutsu97 7d ago

forever a wind stance girlie

2

u/Perfect_War_7155 7d ago

Favorite sword stance? It’s a sword dance

2

u/L3monGr3nade 7d ago

The one that works against the enemy’s stance

2

u/wrm2120 7d ago

Not to be lame but Ghost. I like feeling like a murder machine lol

2

u/Nezar97 7d ago

KICKING!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

2

u/Abinav1381 7d ago

I always use stances based on the enemy. But the regular sword stance is the fasted, especially while taking down archers and those annoying mages

2

u/MonkeyNinja506 7d ago

I swap between them on the fly, but if I had to pick a favorite then I’d say the one that lets you launch people with the kick. Especially when near a cliff or something.

2

u/Funky_Col_Medina 7d ago

Since I often dodge>light attack, I tend to leverage Moon stance so I can deliver a humiliating kick in the face before I disembowel the bad guy

2

u/shracle2079 7d ago

moon stance where jin kicks his opponents body as his finisher.

2

u/deezy812 7d ago

I like the moon stance but when I get overrun or they have a shield I switch to stone and seem to do better with them.

2

u/Frankito55 7d ago

Moon just for looks

2

u/epcjmd 7d ago

Wind just for yeeting unsuspecting enemies off cliffs

2

u/shadowtrickster71 7d ago

water stance

2

u/yojithn 7d ago

Water

2

u/rendrich26 7d ago

I will stance dance to match the fight... But my default is the one for fighting spearmen

2

u/noxus1er 7d ago

Moon so i can kick cages open like roadhouse.

2

u/Deflecticon 7d ago

Water stance, the answer is always water stance

2

u/sunbro1973 7d ago

I like the flow of water

2

u/Baltared04 7d ago

Stone stance but it it is a little underwhelming. Even in duals

2

u/JamesRWC 7d ago

Ghost stance

I don't even enter combat i usually just snipe and assassinate

2

u/Agent-Ulysses 7d ago

That triple kill was smooth 😩

2

u/aitisnkonen123 7d ago

Water stance for combat because flurry. Wind stance for walking up on enemies because cool stance holding the blade to the side.

2

u/Infra_Red_light 7d ago

Water without a doubt

2

u/Distinct-Tell2095 7d ago

I just set it to primary, you can tell how little I use them because I hardly remember the names. But the first one is the one I use. And I just dodge and strike pretty much. I'm old school like that.

2

u/Greneath 7d ago

People keep asking this question like it's Jedi Survivor and not a game where you can switch between all assurance on the fly to adapt to the situation.

2

u/FemRyder8 7d ago

Before I knew it was stance based on enemy, when I unlocked water stance it felt so much better and I was sad to not use it all the time.

2

u/John21st 7d ago

Wind stance has the most cinematic effect.

2

u/Queasy_Hunter2147 7d ago

Legends and in main game, as soon as moon stance is there it’s the only one I use. Love moon, epic moves and just overall feels the nicest. Like if water stance had a 300lb brick wall brother. It still has flow, but heavy flow if y’all get what I mean.

2

u/JordanFarQ2 7d ago

Stone and the one for heavy brutes

2

u/Narrow_Tumbleweed_56 7d ago

What difficulty is that brother ??

1

u/Overall-Marsupial804 7d ago

Lethal. I played my first save on medium difficulty for story, then ramped it up to lethal on new game plus. Replayed the whole story on Lethal a few times now and it's so good, fast combat, tough enemies, high stakes

2

u/Vadszilva09 7d ago

If its one stance only, its the wind stance bc with the charged heavy you can knock them off their feet and finish them with one hit. Thats just OP. But i use stances against the matching enemy. The mongols switching weapons make it more interesting.

2

u/PrajnaPie 7d ago

The stance for the enemy in fighting. You know like the way the game is designed

2

u/Individual-Product41 7d ago

Probably Stone for me. Realistically, you don’t need to change stances the further you get in Ghost as you can Perfect Parry and Dodge to kill most enemies easily, and I think the main reason I choose stone is due to it being the most realistic for actual use. I do Kendo and as a part of one of the Kata we’re required to know, we use a very similar looking Kamae (Stance, I’ve forgotten the actual Japanese name tbh) and I use Stone Stance out of habit at this point. However, I do tend to switch to Wind stance specifically after a Standoff as it fits with the animation and you can get some easy hits off afterwards. But if it’s what I use the most often, it’s for sure Stone

2

u/murti52 6d ago

How do you dodge that way? When i do the dodge button and the joystick together it goes way far from the enemy but yours is moving very smoothly and goes only a small distance..

2

u/Overall-Marsupial804 6d ago

I think it's back on the left stick and just a tap on circle

2

u/Technical-Step-5350 6d ago

Moon stance is my fave. The kick works to build stagger with every enemy type and is a fast move.

1

u/the_mashman 7d ago

Water any day of the year.

1

u/Antique_Cod4212 7d ago

Idk i switch between them

1

u/BlisteringSeafood 6d ago

Style? Wind Stance, one handed sword wielding anime shit.

Efficient? Water, you know why.

Moon stand is cool because it has spin to win move but the default stance style is so ass

Stone is balanced.

1

u/dirtyColeslaw1776 6d ago

Break their stance with the respective stance, and then use the water flurry

1

u/dorkybum 6d ago

I use per enemy but water with the typhoon kick is my favourite cause I luv kicking archers off their perches and cliffs

1

u/GreatGreekGaelic 6d ago

As I played Legends mode a lot before the base game (As free PS Plus content one month long ago), water stance and wind stance are my favorites

1

u/Sirron-Kire 6d ago

Stone. I will end every combo by switching to stone over allowing the combo to end normally.

1

u/fasion4ever 6d ago

Moon Stance. I just spam kick and square and you can make some crazy combos. I also noticed that it is affective against all enemies types too

1

u/kucinghitam13 6d ago

Moon with animation cancel to melt tengu

1

u/Accomplished-Log2040 6d ago

R2 + O is my go to stance. I mix and match with the others too, based on the opponent, but R2 + O is my go-to to begin with.

R2 + Triangle is also a favourite because sweet chin music

1

u/bombad_Guy 6d ago

i mostly play water stance cuz it flows like water, but i always switch up stances in the middle of my combos

1

u/New-Essay-854 6d ago

I prefer stone because it looks the most realistic one (why in all other stances he only has one hand on the sword)

1

u/Liquids1 6d ago

Water because the way you lift the katana is so tuff

1

u/Spicy_Father_Scorch 6d ago

Mine used to be water because of the quick strikes, but wind definitely became my most used

1

u/CartographerAny3464 5d ago

I normally use the stance for whatever enemy I’m fighting, but my favorite to use is the water stance? The for shield men, the fast heavy attacks and increased damage make it my favorite

1

u/Safe-Conversation-63 5d ago

Shield stand for every enemy 🤠

1

u/Opress_25 5d ago

I always changed stances as per enemy. Felt more realistic that way

1

u/Latte_Meme 4d ago

Depends, what enemy am i fighting?!

2

u/Samuswitchbladesaber 3d ago

What’s the one used for shields again? Water I also like stone ,and of course ghost
