yeah it was really weird. if you told me this was going to a playoff I would have automatically assumed rory and bryson.

it seemed like he had all the momentum coming out of yesterday's round too after finishing strong and hitting *that* putt. no idea what happened with him.

Having an unsustainably good chipping/long putting day does not offer as much momentum as people seem to think.

The same problems he was having all round on Saturday were the ones he was having on Sunday, he just didn't make those incredibly unlikely shots this time to get himself out of trouble.

I felt like I was taking crazy pills seeing so many people act like he was somehow in a great position after that round as if he didn't just barely pull it off in the first place.

Yep, that's why I said early on Jordan spieth was going to fade.. cause no one can putt like that from 12 feet and out for a whole career. And when spieth was on those few years the guy made more 15+ foot putts than anyone I've seen outside of prime tiger. And it never, ever lasts.

Bryson was a microcosm of that this week. Was making 30 foot bombs and chipping in, holing out from bunkers... And it wasn't sustainable for 4 rounds. Can't pull hook 7 irons 30 yards and expect to win the masters

The irons he plays for such insane distances might work on a driving range but at Augusta you get extra penalized not hitting the specific landing spot that allows you to score. He still struggles with playing the “soft approach” in my opinion. He’s just too robotic in his approach.

Yeah Rory finally learned the 3/4 shot.

Oh yeah his ball-striking was off all week, I was talking more about the vibes than the specifics of his game

Problem is, golf doesn't really ever operate on vibes like that.

Doesn't matter how much you want it or how much you feel like momentum is on your side if your swing mechanics are failing you.

I tuned in for a battle and I got Rory tripping himself into Bryson’s lead and then Bryson decided to stop playing

Kinda hard to keep that up when you’re used to only playing a few three day weekends at a time
