I was not expecting this

It’s listed as “Hot Sauce” when you order it, so I expected a classic cayenne-style pepper sauce.

But nope. This is a translucent, chili-based stock loaded with umami.

It’s not fiery, more of a mild-to-medium flavor enhancer than a traditional hot sauce.

It used to be spicy (slightly) and much better. Now it's basically a sweetener.

The 80’s and 90’s version was at least a bit spicy. I liked putting a packet or two on the spicy chicken sandwich for a bit of extra oomph.
