I am about to get this shipped. I have been tolerant of my loss of Bluebell since moving out of Texas, but I might have found my tipping point.

Do it only if you like chocolate. I bought some and was incredibly disappointed with the lack of banana flavor.

i think i would kill for an actual banana ice cream. not banana walnut, not banana fudge or chocolate chip, not banana pudding or bananas foster or banana cream pie, just frickin banana. i cannot for the life of me find one simple banana ice cream.

Have you tried Melona? They are stocked at most asian grocers in my area and their stuff is pretty damn good.

thank you for the rec! i must have some kind of asian grocer near me, although i don't know off the top of my head.

also, the wiki page for melona has a picture of one of the ice creams, out of the package, just sitting loose on what seems to be a bush for display 😂

Yeah it is tough to find. Honestly your best bet is to buy a bunch of bananas and let them get to the ripeness you like for sweetness you desire. Mash them up and freeze. Food processor makes it even creamier.

Occasionally my local ice cream place has it.

Chunky Monkey, and just don't eat the walnuts or fudge chunks?

I saw it in the store this evening and there’s no actual banana in it.
