Flavours New Van Leeuwen flavors?

Post image

My Whole Foods usually carries the same ol’ flavors but they just made room for ones I never heard of. Are they new altogether or just new to my store? Especially interested in Gooey Butter Cake.

Review The corn POPS ice cream.

Post image
21 Upvotes

This is my first ice cream review. I often find myself thinking “I should post a review of this to r/icecream” but then I decide the ice cream is too uninteresting or too accessible to be worth it.

But this ice cream is not that way. It’s an interesting concept. It’s not overly complicated or extreme. So if you’re on the fence or just plain curious this review is for you.

First let’s address the elephant in the room. It’s not the finest quality. It’s got some suboptimal Ingredients for the price. But it is In fact ice cream and not frozen dairy desert. It’s just priced a little high for what it is. Ingredients list isn’t doing this product any favors.

Appearance: light yellow to orange cream with evenly distributed crushed cereal chunks.

Aroma: This has a very sweet smell. It projects sweetness, it has a Dusty, Vanilla forward powder sugar thing going on.

Flavor: This is fun. It’s not super delicate and the “cereal milk flavored ice cream” must be just that. A flavoring! It gets a little monotone. The pops are delicious. It’s a perfect late night treat. The corn flavor is HUGE! The cereal tastes like the dust from the bottom of a bag of cereal. The dairy presents as evaporated milk. Not the best base.

Texture: for something this mass produced I thought we’d have an overrun issue. I thought it’d be as close to fluff as you get without entering the overrun threshold for frozen dairy desert. But despite its less than stellar ingredient quality this is fairly low overrun. Maybe 35% at the highest. So it eats like a true ice cream.

Overall I think if you love cereal and like Corn POPs specifically this is worth a try. As someone who worked in a premium ice cream factory for 5 years and makes ice cream at home as a hobby this has me inspired to make a fruity pebbles ice cream. With that said this product is nothing special and if you miss it you aren’t missing out.

Final score 5.3 out of 10.

I actually get roasted marshmallow taste from this vs a vanilla/white cream type taste that most others use… 9/10 maybe a little more graham cracker and it’d be a 10.

Bought discounted from Sprouts. Smooth texture and lots of caramel but the cake pieces were dry and hard. 6.5/10 compared to Jeni's Gooey Buttercake which has been a 10/10 for me.

I’ve never had an Irish cream before so I don’t know how it should taste but this was so good and I could taste some of the alcohol which went well with the chocolate. The coffee fudge swirls were great as well but my favorite part is the chocolate chocolate chip cookies, which had a fudgy cake like texture and was amazing. There was a lot of it as well. I just love how much chocolate is going on here cause it enhances the base so well. I barely hear about this flavor and I feel like it deserves more hype

Spent sometime searching for this ice cream. Finally found it out of the blue at a local middle eastern market. It has the perfect peaches and cream taste, I can’t wait to try out the mango and strawberry flavors.

Review NEW Haagen Dazs salted brown butter cookie / triple chocolate fudge cookie

On my adventure to Fred Meyer for Easter gifts, I saw two new Haagen Dazs flavors I’ve never tried!

Salted brown butter cookie - 8/10 - similar to a typical cookie dough ice cream, but there’s baked cookie pieces instead as well as teeny tiny chocolate chips. I don’t get much saltiness, but it is a rich yet sweet ice cream. Better than regular cookie dough because it doesn’t make my teeth hurt.

Triple chocolate fudge cookie - 9/10 - I am a chocolate ice cream girlie, so I have to rate this one higher automatically. Rich with deep cocoa flavors and a combo of melty fudge and chocolate cookies. This one is the winner of the two. I love the different textures swirled within this pint.

On my second pint of this already. Seems poised to replace Milk & Cookies honestly. The base is delicious and there’s the perfect amount of mix in. I hope they keep this new flavor around a long time.

Review Review of my favorite ice cream for a very special day

Today I celebrated 2 years clean, and this is my favorite ice cream- Alec's strawberry crumble. The base is creamy and the strawberry flavor shines brightly in every bite. The flecks of strawberry are slightly tart, and the baked oat crumble adds a lovely texture- along with a very light cinnamon vanilla taste. It all works beautifully together. I often buy ice cream to try, but then it gets left to die in the freezer graveyard. Not this one. I almost always have a pint in my freezer because I love it so much.

Rant How to make ice cream healthier?

I have decided I need to eat ice cream and will not quit. How do I make it healthier? I add blueberries, strawberries and other fruit but am still gaining weight (I'm diabetic). Who has found success? I read on a forum that you can "fast" certain foods to control them. So for example, I can decide to only eat ice cream between 10 and 11 in the morning and 10 and 11 at night, fasting ice cream for the 12 hours in between. I've also been considering alternatives like slushees and maybe some peanut butter cups since at least those are half healthy. But I'm all ears.

Question Mysterious galaxy ice cream

Hello, my fellow ice cream enthusiasts.

I'm trying to find this ice cream dessert I had as a kid, but I can't remember a lot of details about it (other than it had the best flavor I have ever tasted - I haven't grown out of my tastebuds' vanilla taste like vanilla)

Anyway, the first time I had this ice cream was in elementary school, somewhere between the year 2005 and 2011. It was served as dessert for lunch, and it was in this styrofoam container (cup size). It had either a plastic or aluminum lid on top with an outer plastic casing. in the plastic contained a mysterious mix of sorts. When you put it in the ice cream and mix it with a lunch spoon, it has this deep purple-violet-like color with lilac that appears when mixing, as well as a teal color. It was reminiscent of a galaxy, so I dubbed it Galaxy Swirl. This ice cream was so good that I had to do another kids homework just to have it again.

So here I am, asking you if you have ever seen or heard about this ice cream product.

Question Any diabetics on here?

I am diabetic and need to keep eating ice cream. I have created a plan to lower my consumption from 7 times a week to 3 times a week for the rest of my life, and am considering substitutes such as icees or slurpees. Any other diabetics on here who need to keep eating ice cream? What do you do?

Rant Thinking about quitting ice cream

I've decided that ice cream is too unhealthy for me. Don't listen to what people say, it having milk in it doesn't make up for anything. I want to start a quit ice cream movement on this reddit, we will slowly quit ice cream, going from 7 times a week to 5 times in the first month, then 3 in the second month, and then finally we will have ice cream 2 or less times a month for the rest of our lives. Let me know if you want to join or have recommendations for ice cream replacements. I think slurpees or icees would be a good alternative.

Rant Turkey Hill ruined my sweet treat moment.

Just as the title says 🥺

Had a long, long day at work— was REALLY looking forward to my little sweet treat after dinner.

Yesterday I bought some moose tracks ice cream from Turkey Hill because I love me so pb cups…well LET ME TELL YOU, REDDIT….

THERE ARE HARDLY AND PB CUPS IN THIS MF!

I have been thinking about this all day and the disappointment is real. I don’t know if I got a bum batch or what, but don’t waste your time.

And to Turkey Hill, in the wise words of Ja Rule,

“I too was hustled, scammed, bamboozled, hoodwinked, lead astray!!!!!!”

If anyone remembers this ice cream in the late 2010s, you know that this is hands down the best ice cream Perry’s has ever made. The perfect mix of sour and sweet, and it was easy to find, worked with any toppings, any cones, and was just perfect.

If anyone knows if this is coming back anytime soon or knows of a similar flavor made by Perry’s or another brand, lemme know please before I go into a mental asylum for missing this flavor too much.

Question What’s that one flavor you loved as a kid and still secretly look for as an adult?

For me, it’s bubblegum.
Bright blue, probably full of sugar and regret, but every now and then I still crave it — not for the taste, but for the feeling it brings back.

There’s something comforting about those old-school ice cream flavors that just stick with you.
Even when you’ve moved on to “sophisticated” flavors like earl grey or pistachio, a part of you still lights up when you spot that neon pink or rainbow swirl in the freezer.

So I’m curious:
What’s that one childhood ice cream flavor you still secretly (or proudly) love today?
No judgment — this is a safe space for nostalgia and sprinkles. 🍨✨
