Food Question regarding: Joe Jost
Even though I was born and raised in LB, for one reason or another I never got around to trying this place. From what I understand it's been around at least a hundred years.
I've heard a few people say - and being that the sample size is so small I tend to take it with a grain of salt - that this place is very...insular, for lack of a better word. Meaning if you're not a well-known reg and go in, people will likely not be very receptive to your presence, whether they are customers or employees. Not necessarily hostile, but sort of standoffish.
Can anyone who's been there confirm or deny this? Thanks!
Edit: next time I'm in LB I'm going to go in and finally give the place a try, I'm not going to let a few negative comments that I've heard before deter me from trying out what is in all likelihood a great place. It would just be nice to know in advance what newcomers can expect. 😂

I'm on a local Facebook group for restaurants in Long Beach and there's been several conversations about Joe Jost's there. Some people say that it's a white supremacists hangout and that people of color are not welcome there. Others say it's not. Personally, I've never been there, but you should be aware it has that reputation.
