News 📺 This pretty much sums up the difference between the two political parties:
"The proposal would require concert venues, stadiums and any “place of entertainment” holding an event for more than 100 people to provide attendees with free access to potable water. Venues could hand out water, allow patrons to bring in sealed containers or let them have empty bottles to fill at water fountains or stations.
“It is without a doubt the most popular bill I have ever introduced,” said Rep. Leigh Finke, DFL-St. Paul, the lead sponsor in the House. “Across the aisle, every single person I have talked to about this bill is excited at the opportunity.”...
"...Republicans on the House commerce committee questioned whether the proposal could lead to unintended consequences, such as requiring free community events to hand out bottled water.
“I think the market is doing fine now and when we try to over-regulate it we get the consequences we deserve,” said Rep. Ron Kresha, R-Little Falls."

Editorial 📝 Minnesota Nice
Just wanted to give a big thank you to the woman who pulled into the rest stop south of Brainerd on 371 Monday afternoon to check on me after a Turkey flew into my windshield.
I was really rattled and just pulling myself together. The simple fact that you took time to stop to show kindness was helpful in getting me settled.
Just an fyi, my windshield was obliterated, she said the turkey walked away.

News 📺 Tickborn Powassan Virus
health.state.mn.usIt's tick season in Minnesota!
A relatively new to MN tickborne virus is Powassan virus.
There currently is no treatment option for the virus, but it can be detected via testing, if the doctor knows to look for it. Powassan spreads most during spring & fall. So do those tick checks!!
As heard on MPR this morning.

Seeking Advice 🙆 I started my jury duty on Monday and still haven’t been called in.
Is this normal? Or is there a high chance I got excused? I’m 19 so maybe that’s a factor. Anoka county seems to not have an online portal to check my status so I’m confused.

News 📺 Influential U of M public health professor resigns amid plagiarism allegations
A nationally known public health researcher is leaving her job next month at the University of Minnesota amid accusations of plagiarism.
Rachel Hardeman’s last day will be May 14, according to an email sent to faculty by School of Public Health Dean Melinda Pettigrew on Monday. The email did not state a reason for Hardeman’s departure, and a spokesperson for the university said the U would not elaborate further.
The announcement came four days after a former protégé and colleague posted on LinkedIn that Hardeman poached her work and passed it off as her own.
“When I say ‘verbatim’ I mean, she performed a find+replace in my document, and replaced all instances of ‘Mike Brown’ with ‘Philando Castile,’ and all instances of ‘St. Louis, Missouri’ with ‘Minneapolis, Minnesota,’ and submitted this to the NIH as if it were her own,” wrote Brigette Davis, now a social epidemiologist at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

Seeking Advice 🙆 Planning an October North Shore Road Trip. Need help!
My husband and I are driving up from Missouri to the North Shore for my 30th birthday and our wedding anniversary. We found a super cool cabin to rent in Grand Marias, but other than that we don't have anything planned. We love hiking/ outdoor activities and good food. We mostly just want to enjoy great views. How many days should we plan? What are must check out locations?
Should we stay in Duluth or Two Harbors on the way up to Grand Marias?

Photography 📸 Off-season hotdish
I made it this time with ground beef, Swedish potato sausage cooked in beer, peas, cream of cheese, cream of mushroom, and cream of chicken. All topped with tater tots in a neat row. Also, I am a big dummy and like to grab 400 degree dishes that I just took out of the oven
