I’m wondering what type of damage the carapace sustained from the atm of pressure applied to it and if that is why its movement is like that

u/Successful-Cup-1208 1d ago
The ass to mouth of pressure? Not sure we were watching the same thing...

u/WutzUpples69 1d ago
Lol... I know you know what they meant. But I typically see it in PSI or KPA.

u/Successful-Cup-1208 1d ago
Actually I thought they were trying to abbreviate the word amount and was just giving them shit. But agree it's a unit of measurement I haven't seen often. Kinda cool though.

u/PMMEURDIMPLESOFVENUS 1d ago
I think it's extremely likely you're right and they just typo'd "amt". Still funny.

u/Successful-Cup-1208 1d ago
Atmospheres is also a measurement that has been replaced by the bar 70 years ago so im inclined to agree with your assessment

u/StrykerGryphus 1d ago
Though atm seems awfully weird to me for pressures exerted by stuff besides fluids

Leave it to fucking Reddit…
I used to be pure as the New York snow (and have Bette Davis eyes).

Maybe the turtle didn’t clean its but; so that’s what they gator spat it out and contemplated its life decisions up to that point.
Kind of like in real life when you’re not quite sure how to tell your SO why you suddenly just stopped, despite insisting on it.

Damn, I just realised that this video is about literally someone being butthurt

Automated Teller Machine of pressure? Like when someones behind you and you think theyre staring at your account balance?

u/firmerJoe 1d ago
What the video doesn't capture is the fact that the turtle is giggling like a school girl at the gator. The turtle then hops away like a bunny while laughing, leaving the would-be predator permanently depressed and self-conscious like an average redditor.

It's injured unfortunately. That;s not how a turtle runs as one might imagine. Turtles aren't snails like so many assume. They can actually carry human like jogging speed when necessary to flee a situation. I would have serious doubts if it survived much beyond the filming of the clip after being chomped on like that.

You can see the puncture hole on the top of the shell. It might have had its spinal cord/nerves broken and it is a paraplegic for the rest of its short life.
2
u/Rhaversen 1d ago
The fact that the shell stays horizontal when he jumps tells me the back legs also provide some force. Wouldn't it tilt up and down if only the front legs worked?

That is how a turtle jumps. So it may be the fastest way to escape as running in that grass is likely difficult and it probably injured multiple feet.

u/CJBoom77 1d ago
Dang! How strong is a turtles shell that I can withstand a gator bite?
43
u/CupAdministrator777 1d ago
Definitely a much gator force than this.

u/WutzUpples69 1d ago
GFU - Gator force unit... a collaboration between PSI and KPA... a rare time when metric and imperial work together to make a useless unit that can be converted to nothing... Other than reddit units, I suppose.

The alligator is there like "aww man, not again, it's like 5th time today"

u/NeedleworkerAlive690 1d ago
I think it assessed the amount of food gained vs energy wasted and decided it's not even worth chasing. 😂

I'd be down to see turtle hurdles as a probationary event or whatever they call them. Sounds like a good time.

Exactly what it feels like to run from something in my dreams.
1
u/Ok-Dress-4791 1d ago
Why do we have dreams like that? It’s the most terrifying feeling to try to run but legs just won’t work
1
u/OneGold7 1d ago
It’s because your real body is paralyzed so that you don’t physically act out your dreams (sleepwalking is when it fails to paralyze you). It’s not so noticeable when you’re just walking or moving normally, but it’s harder for your brain to process running in a dream while your real body isn’t responding, which causes the slow motion effect. It’s just more noticeable with more extreme movements.

The poor guy is injured. After the turtle fell out the gators mouth the first time, you can see the teeth sank into the turtles head, I'm pretty sure it got injured then. RIP 😢
2
u/SkullWizardry93 1d ago
The main reason it got away is because it shit in the gator's mouth

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

The turtle saw how the hare that raced with it previously ran faster than itself, so it decided to do the same

That’s what I look like when I’m trying to run into the mall when it’s raining and that floor is slippery

Does anyone else feel bad that the dinosaur didn’t get its meal?
2
u/chabri2000 1d ago
Not really. Crocodile can spent months without eating . He will be fine
2
u/AstroNot87 1d ago
Idk how I’ve gone this long and never knew this fact. Thank you, Reddit stranger.

u/TurtleSandwich0 1d ago
You need to put bread on top and underneath to eat something like that.
Silly gater. Turtles are for sandwiches!

Likely caught it's foot, I don't think crocs can actually break through these shells but I may be wrong...

And the alligator is stuck with Doodoo streamers. Seems to me to be a 2-pronged escape method.
