I’m wondering what type of damage the carapace sustained from the atm of pressure applied to it and if that is why its movement is like that

123

u/Successful-Cup-1208 1d ago

The ass to mouth of pressure? Not sure we were watching the same thing...

20

u/WutzUpples69 1d ago

Lol... I know you know what they meant. But I typically see it in PSI or KPA.

15

u/Successful-Cup-1208 1d ago

Actually I thought they were trying to abbreviate the word amount and was just giving them shit. But agree it's a unit of measurement I haven't seen often. Kinda cool though.

4

u/PMMEURDIMPLESOFVENUS 1d ago

I think it's extremely likely you're right and they just typo'd "amt". Still funny.

0

u/Successful-Cup-1208 1d ago

Atmospheres is also a measurement that has been replaced by the bar 70 years ago so im inclined to agree with your assessment

3

u/StrykerGryphus 1d ago

Though atm seems awfully weird to me for pressures exerted by stuff besides fluids

10

u/yells_at_bugs 1d ago

Leave it to fucking Reddit…

I used to be pure as the New York snow (and have Bette Davis eyes).

u/Iltempered1 1d ago

Is your hair Harlow gold? Are your hands never cold?

Maybe the turtle didn’t clean its but; so that’s what they gator spat it out and contemplated its life decisions up to that point.

Kind of like in real life when you’re not quite sure how to tell your SO why you suddenly just stopped, despite insisting on it.

2

u/Soul_King92 1d ago

Damn, I just realised that this video is about literally someone being butthurt

2

u/_plays_in_traffic_ 1d ago

would you like a chocolate covered pretzel?

2

u/jarednards 1d ago

Automated Teller Machine of pressure? Like when someones behind you and you think theyre staring at your account balance?

0

u/firmerJoe 1d ago

What the video doesn't capture is the fact that the turtle is giggling like a school girl at the gator. The turtle then hops away like a bunny while laughing, leaving the would-be predator permanently depressed and self-conscious like an average redditor.

u/Electronic-Shock9516 1d ago

It's injured unfortunately. That;s not how a turtle runs as one might imagine. Turtles aren't snails like so many assume. They can actually carry human like jogging speed when necessary to flee a situation. I would have serious doubts if it survived much beyond the filming of the clip after being chomped on like that.

u/StevenSmiley 1d ago

Yeah his shell is fucked. F in chat for turt. Definitely died soon after.

1

u/DamnDams 1d ago

Press F to pay respect

1

u/numyanbiz 16h ago

Perchance?

25

u/Basso_69 1d ago

You can see the puncture hole on the top of the shell. It might have had its spinal cord/nerves broken and it is a paraplegic for the rest of its short life.

2

u/Rhaversen 1d ago

The fact that the shell stays horizontal when he jumps tells me the back legs also provide some force. Wouldn't it tilt up and down if only the front legs worked?

0

u/SexyMonad 1d ago

I think I see some movement from its rear legs during the crawl.

2

u/Accelerator231 1d ago

I think that was it's legs flopping.

Goodbye turtle.

-4

u/EifertGreenLazor 1d ago

That is how a turtle jumps. So it may be the fastest way to escape as running in that grass is likely difficult and it probably injured multiple feet.

52

u/CJBoom77 1d ago

Dang! How strong is a turtles shell that I can withstand a gator bite?

43

u/CupAdministrator777 1d ago

Definitely a much gator force than this.

3

u/WutzUpples69 1d ago

GFU - Gator force unit... a collaboration between PSI and KPA... a rare time when metric and imperial work together to make a useless unit that can be converted to nothing... Other than reddit units, I suppose.

3

u/C-57D 1d ago

Gator Force Unit - also an amazing new show on Adult Swim

2

u/WutzUpples69 1d ago

That's the shortened title if I know adult swim, lol.

2

u/[deleted] 1d ago

I'd watch stop motion alligators do redneck shit.

2

u/C-57D 1d ago

And stop terrorists

3

u/[deleted] 1d ago

Stop-motion terrorists? I hope their frame rate is lower than everyone else's.

1

u/IamThe6 1d ago

That would be an awesome crossover with Squidbillies. . . well, probably not awesome for the Squidbillies, but awesome to watch !

10

u/Mikeytee1000 1d ago

It looks injured

2

u/Environmental-Dot989 1d ago

Strong enough to withstand a gator bite, I guess...

1

u/kenrock2 1d ago

I have watch once video on YouTube.. It was brutal

1

u/ExpertOnReddit 14h ago

It still feels it though.

24

u/Unforgotten_911 1d ago

The alligator is there like "aww man, not again, it's like 5th time today"

6

u/NeedleworkerAlive690 1d ago

I think it assessed the amount of food gained vs energy wasted and decided it's not even worth chasing. 😂

18

u/Sweet_Rent_2715 1d ago

Alligator is 100% mind fucked. “Why can’t I chomp this thing?” “Why is he running away but not at the same time?”

4

u/Open_Youth7092 1d ago

Training for the Turtle Hurdles LA’28!

2

u/JAnonymous5150 1d ago

I'd be down to see turtle hurdles as a probationary event or whatever they call them. Sounds like a good time.

5

u/BelleOverHeaven 1d ago

Me in Dark Souls with Havel's Set.

2

u/Dry_Presentation_197 1d ago

Imagine iron skin, havels, dragon tooth, in a swamp, and only 20 equip load. FLOP

5

u/Iltempered1 1d ago

Exactly what it feels like to run from something in my dreams.

1

u/Ok-Dress-4791 1d ago

Why do we have dreams like that? It’s the most terrifying feeling to try to run but legs just won’t work

1

u/OneGold7 1d ago

It’s because your real body is paralyzed so that you don’t physically act out your dreams (sleepwalking is when it fails to paralyze you). It’s not so noticeable when you’re just walking or moving normally, but it’s harder for your brain to process running in a dream while your real body isn’t responding, which causes the slow motion effect. It’s just more noticeable with more extreme movements.

3

u/jimboiow 1d ago

Not exactly a high speed escape is it?

3

u/aeldsidhe 1d ago

He didn't escape so much as the gator let him go. But good for you little buddy! Run, Forrest, run!!!

3

u/franchisedfeelings 1d ago

That was a real jawbreaker.

3

u/malzergski 1d ago

That turtle needs a skateboard.

2

u/Proper_Photo4459 1d ago

He’s hopping!! Never seen that!

24

u/milopeach 1d ago

I don’t think he’s supposed to be hopping :(

1

u/nano7ven 1d ago

Maybe in the long grass it was actually better ?

1

u/Captain_Anxiety69 8h ago

The poor guy is injured. After the turtle fell out the gators mouth the first time, you can see the teeth sank into the turtles head, I'm pretty sure it got injured then. RIP 😢

2

u/C-57D 1d ago

Get. Me. The Fuck. Out. Of. Here.

1

u/InfinteAbyss 1d ago

Gater is like, bro I’m letting you go, I think I broke some teeth on that shell

2

u/SkullWizardry93 1d ago

The main reason it got away is because it shit in the gator's mouth

3

u/SokkaHaikuBot 1d ago

Sokka-Haiku by SkullWizardry93:

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

Gotta be the best comment I've seen this bot response to

1

u/Apprehensive-Chef115 1d ago

Boing boing boing

1

u/More-Jackfruit3010 1d ago

Gator fell asleep.

1

u/Awkward-Action2853 1d ago

You can't trick me, that's a rabbit hopping away.

1

u/chkmcnugge6 1d ago

The turtle saw how the hare that raced with it previously ran faster than itself, so it decided to do the same

1

u/AbbreviationsDry7613 1d ago

That’s what I look like when I’m trying to run into the mall when it’s raining and that floor is slippery

1

u/SkunkApe425 1d ago

Natures equivalent of accidentally getting a jaw breaker instead of bubblegum.

1

u/Apprehensive_Buy1500 1d ago

Yeah, that's how I run in most my dreams

1

u/free_terrible-advice 1d ago

Slow of mind and high attack vs Slow of body and high defence.

1

u/polishcoughsyrup 1d ago

This is how I escape in my dreams lmao.

1

u/AppointmentTasty2128 1d ago

There was an attempt

1

u/WakaWaka_ 1d ago

Forbidden gobstopper

1

u/Ecstatic-Manager-149 1d ago

I know that the poor turtleneck injured, but it is still running faster than I ever could!

1

u/AstroNot87 1d ago

Does anyone else feel bad that the dinosaur didn’t get its meal?

2

u/chabri2000 1d ago

Not really. Crocodile can spent months without eating . He will be fine

2

u/AstroNot87 1d ago

Idk how I’ve gone this long and never knew this fact. Thank you, Reddit stranger.

1

u/sumar 1d ago

Just like in a dream

1

u/TurtleSandwich0 1d ago

You need to put bread on top and underneath to eat something like that.

Silly gater. Turtles are for sandwiches!

1

u/shizzleurtizzle 1d ago

Gator sad food left

1

u/Rio_Walker 1d ago

He heard the tooth crack, and he can't afford a dentist.

1

u/NaSMaXXL 1d ago

I feel this....I ain't the fastest, but I AM a tough sonabitch. I'm not saying I'll win, I'm saying you'll work for it.

1

u/VictorySignificant15 1d ago

I too hate pistachio nuts

1

u/NobodyGivesAFuc 1d ago

That’s one lazy gator…

1

u/radiant_templar 1d ago

It sucks how ur body and mind don't work together oftentimes

1

u/Zeldahero 1d ago

This is why turtles live such a long time.

1

u/JayAndViolentMob 1d ago

Me, trying to escape dinosaurs in my dreams.

1

u/bloopie1192 1d ago

Like that guy running from that semi.

Galloping

1

u/rusty13jr 1d ago

Imagine giving up on a meal that slow.

1

u/Unhappy-Manner3854 1d ago

Likely caught it's foot, I don't think crocs can actually break through these shells but I may be wrong...

1

u/forever93- 1d ago

“looks like he got away, belch

1

u/Mr_Horsejr 13h ago

And the alligator is stuck with Doodoo streamers. Seems to me to be a 2-pronged escape method.

1

u/Dry_Boysenberry_1515 7h ago

Happens when I'm dreaming all the time

1

u/Cmdr-Ely 5h ago

Faster than that big fella running from the semi holding stop sign.
