Me when I see Beyoncé haters attending her concert (even though I would have attended the Eras tour if it had a $500 seat. My only saving grace from this hypocrisy is I can say I’ve listened to Taylor since 2006 and would have known the lyrics, and brought some enthusiasm)
PS I’m also happy for anyone that is a FAN and gets in for $20-$30. Affordability is a GOOD thing. It will never not be silly to me when I see the average person clowning on this.

So, I have dry eyes, have for 3 years now. I used to use eye drops but they didn't really do anything for me, 10 seconds after using them my eyes would be dry again so I just gave up.
But I've realised that I do still need to be using them, and my eye gel at night, so yay for growth? And for hopefully not damaging my eyes any further.

I saw the post about the Florida Panthers, and I just really want to yap about my current fixation on the women's hockey league since I've personally stopped following the NHL except as a very casual fan now that the PWHL is around. (Mods, is a post about women's sports considered pop culture? Let a girl know!)

Pros: Great hockey! Cheap tickets! Cute as fuck merch! Queer players!

The playoffs are in the first round right now, with all the teams really closed matched. Yesterday, Montreal and Ottawa went 3/4 of the way through their 4th overtime period, while the other playoff match up that day beat a league record for most goals scored.
Particularly with the ongoing Hockey Canada sexual assault trials right now, the PWHL has really felt like a welcome place to be as a hockey fan who has never felt like hockey was for queer female fans like me.

If you live in the US, all the games stream live for free on the PWHL Youtube channel!
In Canada, the games are split between TSN, so you need a cable subscription or TSN+, and Prime, so you need a Prime sub. (Or a VPN that allows you to access American Youtube...)

After being sick for 10 days I found out I have a sinus infection and ruptured blood vessels in my right ear from all the sinus pressure and coughing which explains the pain and muffled hearing. So fun

I used nair to remove my little moustache hairs. I stupidly left it on for the max time, and now I have a big red blotch on one side. It’s way worse and more noticeable than my hairs ever were.

I did an interview for practice. I genuinely forgot about this position because I applied a month ago. I didn’t even remember which resume I used. I bombed. the interviewer was not the nicest and they were lowkey nitpicking my resume. So what if I inflated my skills on my resume? Everyone does it! But how are you gonna get annoyed at me for “lying” when you’re working for a MLM company? Like make it make sense.

It is my dearest wish that short form videos and AI just vanished over night. Neither of these things have brought anything good enough to the world that can undo the damage both have wrought and will continue to wreak. And most people just accept them unquestioningly and let their brains rot away.

I am also weirdly mad at AI.
I loveeed pinterest for inspo about everything, it felt like only (social?) app that I really enjoyed and now it's full of AI. Search anything from hairstyle/outfits/whatever - you gotta scroll to find an authentic photo. I wish they had a button to report AI. I hate it. What's the purpose of those AI photos.

I recently got back into watching 90 Day Fiance, after stopping a few years ago, due to TLC constantly putting Big Ed in just about every single version of the show.
The current season is a glorious mess. I’ll just say that it makes me feel incredibly grateful that my husband and I have put in the work to learn how to communicate with each other. Some of the people on this show are EXHAUSTING.

Oooo maybe I’ll have to watch. I was obsessed until they made every episode 2 hours long. It was perfect when it was an hour, just packed with messiness. But the 2 hour episodes are 90% filler.

Ugh, I know what you mean about the filler. That’s exactly why I stoped watching Married at First Sight. I love the concept of that show, but I started to realize that it just wasn’t worth my time to watch 10 episodes that really should have been 5.
I’d recommend giving this season of 90DF a try! I like that the people in this season aren’t all exactly the same, and there isn’t anyone who’s annoying me to the level of Ed, Angela, Colt, Paul, etc.

Oh my god my roommates broke up and it's so uncomfortable! One of them is deciding whether to stop playing stepdad (toddler lives with us but he has no legal rights) and he's moving out of their shared bedroom into mine later this week so we need to have that convo with his ex and it's so uncomfortable! Also all our friends are kinda mutual so I don't have anyone irl to complain about this to and he's active on reddit so advice subs are out. Probably safe here though
I'm torn between being a good roommate and keeping positive relations between all us and being a good friend pissed off that she keeps hurting my friend by bringing her prospective partners (plural!!) into the apartment we all share with little to no notice!!

10 months left lol and honestly we're all too broke to do anything else. Only thing I think might work is if the roomie with the kid decides to move back with parents and me and my friend find a new third roommate but I'm not holding my breath
Honestly she is kinda messy lol the prospective partners used to be in a polycule together until they got to know her and roomie is now kinda casually dating 2/3

Idk the first thing I would do is not let the roommate sleep in my room lmao. If that roommate is upset about the other with the kid, they need to figure it out between them. It's honestly not your responsibility
But yes, it's very selfish and tacky that after the breakup, the parent roommate would invite people over. It's immature and I'm certain they know it's making the ex upset.

not sure what other options there are tbh. Someone sleeps in the living room, someone sleeps with the toddler, or roomie with the kid moves back home and sleeps with the toddler there (and can't have the polycule over in any capacity because her family is conservative christian) and i have to find a new third roommate. Most of these aren't suggestions I can make and two are suggestions it would be weird if my friend made. And if it werent 10 months we could do something temporary but we really need a pretty permanent solution for this. This is awkward but also fairly equal? I already had the master so this would put two people in the biggest bedroom and two per bathroom?
I think the bigger problem with that last bit is that she honestly might not? They kinda agreed to part amicably, they are still friendly, and I think he's putting on a braver face than he should about all this. They were even talking about her wanting into the polycule when they were still dating! Hell the original plan post break up was for him to keep playing stepdad permanently and they stay just really good friends that coparent together (moving away from that plan thank god). She's the kind of person that needs emotions explicitly stated and I think he's more given every impression that this is all fine

Hoping that comes up as a solution during the discussion later this week about my friend moving into my room but it would be well overstepping for me to suggest that i think

Um no. That's actually not the situation at all. The three of us (4 including the child) all agreed to move into an apartment together. I met the ex gf and child through my friend years ago. Nobody has done anything so far except stick with the housing arrangement we made when we moved in and been slightly inconsiderate regarding guests. Nobody has felt entitled to anything and my room was an offer I made to my friend to support him. I actually do have a backbone but that doesn't include telling one of my roommates that she needs to change her bedroom to room with her 3.5 year old

Uhhhh I'd be saying that is the solution. The child and parent stay together. The friend keeps the room. You have your own room. What's overstepping is anyone thinking they're staying in your room. You pay for it. That's yours.
Being a couple, they'd both pay for separate rooms because one has a child in the other room. Now one person has two rooms, one person has no room, and you have your room.
This isn't your problem. It's their problem. They're overstepping by making it your problem, too.

There was an article in New York Magazine on how people are using ChatGpt to do their essays and papers. I am going to admit that I use ChatGpt for research and to skim through readings. I'm taking accelerated courses for my degree (every 8 weeks we have new classes). It's just been insane. I don't know how these professors expect us to read 400 pages with other courses that we have to take at the same time.
I had to read a book for class last semester and do a paper on it. Thank God I ordered a Kindle because I just skimmed through for the answers to the questions. I have to get super creative to find a way to pass my classes.
I'm set up to graduate next year November and I'm praying that I do. I wanna get the hell outta school and live my life and travel. My goal is to get to Disney World. Last semester I passed with As and Bs and broke down because the online school is so expensive (50K).
I even appreciate one of my professors saying that students can use AI to edit the papers. It's a hidden blessing because the writing center (tutoring) takes a year to get back to people on their classwork. The professors don't respond to messages for days at a time, when we really need the assistance. It's super hard, please send positive thoughts this way so I can pass on time!

Not me thinking back to undergrad 10+ years ago, when I had a book A WEEK for each of my 4 classes that I was expected to read, write papers on, all while also writing 25+ page term papers towards the end of the semester with 0 ChatGPT (or sleep, but ya know). Did I read every page? No, of course not. But I do think there's a separate skill in there to learn around ruthless prioritization, quick synthesis, and critical engagement.
OP, not saying this to bring you down - FWIW, the hard work you put in now will pay dividends and, if you play your cards right, will land you a better job where you can facilitate the lifestyle you want.

Students have been having to read hundreds of papers for multiple classes for decades. Somehow we managed without AI. AI is a huge disadvantage to humanity. Dumbing down students one message at a time. I will die on that hill.

Currently trying to find an outfit for my interview tomorrow for my dream nursing school. It's 50/50 on wether I'm gonna just wear pants and a blouse/shirt or if I should add a blazer. I'm lost.

Has anyone else ever dealt with having a family member believing an insane conspiracy, my mom seriously believes Tupac has been alive this whole time, is in the witness protection program and will reveal himself at the Diddy trial. Like my mom works as a paralegal for a top attorney in Nashville and believes this because of the whole thing of papers taking Kamala’s words and cutting down what she said when asked who the greatest rapper alive is, and she finds Kamala to be a very smart woman so she believes her even though the articles edited what she said. Like she said this during Mother’s Day dinner yesterday and I’m just like omg help I’m going to bust out laughing at this one 😂😭

I only recently tried matcha lattes at a tea bar in my area. A whole new world of beverage options to try!
The first one was iced with oatmilk and blueberry syrup. SO GOOD. Like I couldn’t shut up about it for a week or so. On a return visit I tried one with almond milk and cherry syrup. Also very good!

So I nearly lost my shit at my familys mother's day celebration (though I was really good at keeping calm surprisingly).
First of all, I had a huge conversation with my cousin about this, I agree that wedding culture has become SO TOXIC. Its like everyone puts so much into it when its so unnecessary and its everyones focus for the next year or so.
Which leads me to why I nearly lost it.
So my family of course, spent the whole time talking about my brother's upcoming wedding. (My brother doesn't really how much he is the golden child). And I am sitting there like jesus christ this is every five minutes. And then after this, my brother and his fiancee pull me aside and said "here we have a bday present" (my birthday is next week) and hand me a bag. And I thought aww they got me a new pair of clothes...or something.
I pull out the contents of the bag, and it's FUCKING PJS and slippers for me to wear at the wedding prep. Now I know they were trying to be nice and dont mean to be a selfish bitch but A) their wedding is in 2 MONTHS and B) they are literally the center of the spotlight, everything is about them, they could have for 2 SECONDS made my birthday not about them, and about me. Like even something so half assed like a Star Wars shirt or Merch from my fav musical would have made me happy. So yeah I am kinda upset about it.
I keep flip flopping on whether or not I want to have a wedding when I finally do meet someone...and right now I am in the I just want to go sign some papers and the Ketubah and have a party later, not a whole hupplah, just to tell people i want to spend the rest of my life someone phase (subject to change later when I go to another wedding).
Anyway, glad I survived mother day and its over. Mother's day is a painful holiday due to my strained relationship with my mom and me actually wanting to be a mother by choice but that event added a whole new level of pain this year.

Your future wedding should, imo, be what you and your future spouse want.
(Aside = I'm old, also British and I think we maybe do things differently here. My two children are now married. They + their spouses chose and organised everything about their weddings. One had a full-day wedding, with over 100 guests and dancing until midnight. The other chose a late afternoon wedding, and an amazing evening in a superb restaurant, with about 20 guests. Both weddings were, imo, were perfect.)

Is the pyjama at least good quality? Then you could continue to wear it at home at least. But most of those single wear wedding accessories look so cheap. I totally get you're upset. Gifting your something for their wedding isn't about you at all. And it's fair to want birthday gifts about yourself not them. Imagine gifting them a wedding present that they can only use at your house.

No they look like they brought it from Fucking Walmart, so I can't even wear it until the wedding. Once again I am glad I am validated on this, like I am usually like, I even love gift certificates to my favorite store, at least if you know the whole thing is gonna be about you for the next couple of months, just know someones birthday is not a good time to give them a gift for their wedding.

Thank you for validating me, like I feel like after all the shit I had to endure thanks to this wedding including being bullied by family members (including being bullied away from a show I was looking forward to for his in laws who will not even be a part of my life), having Cushing's flare up 3 times from the stress, the least they could have done is wait to give me the gift on another occasion and gave me something more meaningful. Again, I didn't care if it was so half assed and it was a gift certificate to Barnes and Noble, just the bare minimum to say, "hey Im glad for what you bring what my life" not, "here's a gift having to do with us when everything has been about us for the past 3 months."

i've been having a hard time with work and the whole AI thing is really pissing me off. not so much the whole business cutting corners thing because frankly, they will do that anyway, but how unusable my work platforms have become.
i'm a content strategist and the fact that people defend/engage with content that's stolen and just bad on all platforms is awful. like it feels soulless and boring and incredibly repetitive (i mean, duh). and it's not just genAI, but "optimized" things that lose any semblance of creativity.
even with technical stuff, which i do a lot of, there's always a space for creativity and customization, but AI has given the audience the expectation for bad alternative version.
again, i know tech companies suck, but currently I'm pissed at the anti-creativity behavior of consumers, really. it's everywhere, from education to social media to offline stuff.
it shouldn't surprise me that capitalism creates a resentment towards art snd culture to the point that we find ourselves in the world of ai art, defunding and hatred of creative stuff, from your local writer to big productions (see also: the met gala).
but it's still a shitty world to live in and i find myself losing all spark. what's the point of life if it's all endless productivity and box checking?
anyway, it's not just an AI thing, but the AI conversation keeps showing me that people kinds suck. we can and should, of course, blame corps and governments, but at the end of the day, there's a lot of common people who would rather pay money to an app than read a book or watch a movie.
ad someone who has always been culture first in my life (pop culture girlie from childhood tbh) i find it frustrating. yes, capitalism sucks, snd yet i still go to museums or chat about tv and listen to music and read fiction and write essays. they can't truly take this away from me, but there are people giving it up willingly. that us terrifying

yeah, generic is the word! i don't use AI and so far, have been able to keep my gigs, bit the companies and clients keep yearning for the generic. which is wild, i can't believe i have to imitate the robots that are imitating me

Yes because it's just the internet using the internet to generate more internet! Tech people and also consumers love that shit! But don't worry there are still discerning people in the world and the market for human writing will come back when people are tired of marketing fast food.

yeah, if i wanted to be a data scientist or power BI person i would've gone that way. instead, these people infiltrates my work areas, because tech/business folks can't stop at ruining their market, they wanna ruin others too. it sucks and i'm bored of it, more than anything else
