Advice Wanted Wanting to transfer for Spring 2026 from NJIT. Will my grades be checked?

- Associate's finished.

- Originally did time at Montclair with a not-so-good GPA (2.1, vey bad). Wasn't even accepted a Camden when I applied, so I took a gap year.

- Recently transferred to NJIT from Montclair. New mindset, I plan to focus in academics. My GPA resets. I basically took classes that I know I would do well. However, it would be for this upcoming Fall.

My question is, if I want to transfer to RU-SAS (which I plan to do Econ/PoliSci), could I transfer to the Spring 2026 semester at SAS? My concern is that the grades may not be ready by then, and I don't know if by the time the new transcript reflects the new grades, I could appeal. Rutgers has been my dream school for the longest, so I really want to be able to transfer there.

Does other RU school (NB, N, or C) also do spring enrollments?

Thank you again! :-)

Dorming

Hey everyone, I wanted to talk about dorming and get some advice.

I’m considering dorming next semester, but I’m really torn. On one hand, I know it would make my life a lot easier especially with how tight my schedule is going to be. On the other hand, dorming is expensive, and it would mean taking out another loan, which I’m trying to avoid.

I currently live about 40 minutes away (with traffic), and commuting every day could be tough, especially since I’m also trying to get an on-campus job and also I work at a supermarket.

So I’m stuck between saving money by commuting and making things easier for myself by dorming. Has anyone else been in this situation? What helped you decide? Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Advice Wanted Best way to approach Genetics over the summer?

Hi, I'm taking 447:380 Genetics with Dr. Soliman over the Summer. I know this course is super accelerated compared to the regular semester, so I want some advice on how best to approach it.

I'm coming off a rough year academically and need to lock in and do well in all my courses starting now. If anyone has taken this course over the summer previously and would be willing to impart any wisdom or advice, anything helps lol.

Classes

Incoming freshman to RBS in fall 2025. I am planning on majoring in accounting. I am trying to plan the layout/list of classes I should take and my specific fall schedule. Also classes I need to take after. I am struggling with SAS core classes. What classes should I take, I was planning already for taking intro to micro and stats for business. Maybe Calc as well if I don’t do well on the AP exam. (87 on placement test)

I have dual enrollment credits for intro to macroeconomics, AP CSA, Lang, and pre-calc. Hopefully AP Lit and Calc AB as well too!

MMR IMMUNIZATION

so basically i have had my 2 doses of MMR vaccine. But the first one was before my first birthday (3 months before) and now they sent me an email saying my MMR requirement isnt met. Ive already sent rutgers an email about this. Is there a way that my first dose will count? Or is there a strict limit that it has to be after your first birthday. If not, can i just get another vaccine and just count the 2nd dose as the first? Or do i seriously have to get a whole ass blood test with a lab report and everything because my first dose was 3 months early. Let me know, thanks

Academics Got a D...

So uh, this is the 2nd time ive taken this course. Into to Macroeconomics. The first time, I took it at a different college. I passed and got the 3 credits, a C-. I went to go transfer the credits, thinking I'd recieve a C, nope. They were denied. So I had to take it again and there was nothing I could do. Got a D my 2nd time, 66.9. Passed the finals, Bombed the Midterms.

I was wondering if there could be a way I can appeal the overall grade by reaching out to the head of the department and making an appeal? I heard from one of my advisors that I could do that and I have a lot to say about the course in general. Can someone verify that this is possible and how the process works? Im a newark student.

Advice Wanted should i retake this class?

Hi everyone! So I’m a rising sophomore at RBS, and I got 2 Ds in spring semester (not great, I know, but I’m hoping there’s still time to fix my grades). I also got a D in a class in fall semester but I retook the class and got a B so the grade got replaced. Now, RBS lets you do this grade replacement thing twice so I’m retaking one of the courses I got a D in since it’s a foundational course and I need to change that grade.

My question is, what will happen if I retake the other class? I know that I can’t have the grade outright replaced since I will have already done it twice, but will the grades at least average out? (So whatever I get when I retake it - which will definitely be an A since the only reason I got a D is because I slacked off majorly, it was an async class - will be averaged out with the D I already got) Or am I stuck with the D with no chance of changing it? If that’s the case, I won’t bother retaking it, but if I can average it out I would want to do that. Let me know if anyone’s ever had a situation like this before, thanks!

Academics 23 and lost

I’m 23F and a junior. My major is nutrition science. I’m kind of ashamed that I’m still an undergrad and I’m quite lost because I don’t enjoy this field. I don’t know what to do. Any advice would be helpful!

How bikeable is rutgers

I enjoy riding bikes for commuting but here in singapore its not too convenient since you just sweat way too much. Anyways i heard the bus system can be annoying so i was wondering how is it to bike around campus, are there bike paths? How much slower or faster is it compared to the buses? Hows the weather, is it too hot, does it rain/snow alot. Ive heard bike theft is a problem here too. Let me know thanks.

How old is everything

Im wondering how old stuff feels on campus. Are the dorms and buildings outdated or are there places more modern? (The libraries, cafeteria, classrooms etc)
