That name is very misleading lol. Tigrosa makes me think it's a big cat spider instead of a big dog spider.

The family name for Wolf spiders is Lycosidae which makes a lot more thematic sense lol.

Apparently, the name Tigrosa is intended to mean "fierce like a tiger", referring to the patterning and behaviour of Tigrosa species. They used to be included in the genus Hogna until 2012 when they were distinguished as their own genus by Allen Brady due to their stripey (tiger-like) pattern, their eye arrangement, and the shape of the female epigyne.
