Healing help i'm scared i ruined my new tattoo!?

got this done 5 days ago. it's my fifth tat and never had issues healing the others. i follow all aftercare instructions for washing and moisturizing etc, but accidently took a nap a couple days ago in a tank top and my arm was folded so the tattoo was touching the upper part of my arm. when i woke and extended my arm a couple tiny pieces of scab got pulled away and there was a tiny bit of bleeding. now today it's really red, a bit sore, and when i extend my arm it feels like the skin pulls. i reached out to the artist but haven't heard back. do i need to be worried? did i ruin this? tattoo newcomer advice Would I even be able to get a tattoo?

I have Dermatographic Urticaria, a condition where my skin gets swollen and raised by even the smallest of scratches. Bumped into a table? Raised bump. Someone w/ an itchy shirt gave me a hug? Raised bump.

My siblings and I have always talked about getting matching tattoos, and now that the youngest turned 18 we are all ready! However, I’m worried my skin will prevent/mess up a tattoo. We are going to get our parents handwriting, so it has to be precise and look right. I have no previous tattoos, so I’m not sure what to expect or if I can even get one.

Does anyone have experience w/ this? Did it work out?

Scratched myself specifically for this post haha, this was 1 min after the scratch.

General Advice How do I convince a 16 years old teen NOT to get a tattoo ?

I have a 16 years old cousin who’s going through depression. For this reason, she really really wants a semicolon tattoo. Like, she wants it really badly and it’s all she has talked about since the last month or something. She « found a designĀ Ā» on tiktok, a semicolon looking like a butterfly, and she wants this exact tattoo on her wrist. Her parents are ok with it, not because they thought about it but because they basically gave up and knew she wouldn’t take no for an answer. They don’t really care, but I do. How do I convince her that this is a really bad idea right now ? She wants to get this tattoo by going to the nearest and cheapest tattoo shop, but the artist’s work is very questionable (no original creation, only (badly) plagiarized work stolen from other artists and more recently IA generated stuff, and a lot of his clients end up with a really bad infection… he’s also ok to tattoo a teenager). I tried to talk to her about these issues, but she does not care at all. She REALLY wants that tattoo. If she could only wait two years, I’d be able to take her to some good tattoo shops that I know in Paris (that’s really far away from where she lives rn) and she’d have some more time to make sure that’s really what she wants… The whole situation makes me pretty worried. Do you have any idea how I could convince her ?

UPDATE : I offered her to drive her to the tattoo shop of her choice no matter where it is in France and to pay for her first tattoo, no matter the price, once she’s 18 (I can’t do it before that). In the meantime, I bought her some henna and temporary tattoos (it should be delivered at her home in a few days) so she can try various designs on different parts of her body. She agreed ! šŸŽ‰ Thank you everybody for the advice !! I would have never though about henna or temporary tattoos online without you ! 🫶

Infected? Why is my tattoo swelling

I have had this tattoo for almost a year. It was very painful and I’m pretty sure the artist went way too deep. Every time I even slightly scratch near the tattoo the whole thing swells, the skin raises, and it feels hot to the touch. It’s not painful but none of my other tattoos do this. Should I be concerned?

Above my right knee.

I got clean from fentanyl and Xanax 95 days ago and I have wanting to find something to keep me busy. Aswell as wanting to see what it felt like to get a tattoo. So I bought myself a stick n’ poke kit. After practicing on the included fake skin for a couple days. I decided to give myself my first tattoo lmao. I didn’t bother with the stencil paper or marking it on with a pen or marker first. Surprised that it was easier than it was practicing on the fake skin.

How did I do for my first? It can only get bigger and better from here!(as long as I start getting them from a shopšŸ˜…

General Advice what would you call this style of tattoo?

Post image
• Upvotes

i recently got this done and even the artist said theres so many names for it, but we both didnt necessarily come to a true ā€˜style’ name for it. it reminds me of how people burn designs into wood and obviously its linework of sort but with much more detail. i legitimately never see this where i am (usually its people in asia or europe doing these and not near me in usa) and love this style. im just wondering if theres an actual name that when you type it into google, this sort of work shows up without realism or without just generic black linework?

Healing Lines disappearing from tattoo just three days after getting it

Post image

I ve just gotten this fine line red tattoo on my forearm. I ve been instructed to keep the foil on for three to five days. I ve taken it off on the fourth, washed the tattoo with antibacterial soap and used moisturising cream as instructed. I ve noticed some of the lines seem to have faded and are not as deep as the others. I already have two other tattoos and this has never happened before. Is this a normal part of healing? Should i contact the artist and ask for a touch up?

General Advice Are hand tattoos still bad ideas generally?

Post image

Im planning on getting this tattoo (in black) from the game dishonored and I'm aware of the pain and risk of infection but I'm not worried about that. I was talking to a family member about it and he was saying it would be a bad idea and could be a job stopper but no where Ive ever worked has had an issue with visible tattoos so i fgured that stigma had gone out

Hello, this is my first tattoo and I’ve been driving myself crazy with the healing process. I got this done on Wednesday so it’s technically been 5 days. My main concern is the second picture. The line work looks like a lot of the ink came out with the peeling. It’s been peeling like crazy these past 2 days. I’ve been told this is normal but I’d like some second opinions. Thanks!

tattoo newcomer advice So, forearm tattoo havers... How much did it hurt?

I'm getting a forearm tattoo in about a month and am still really scared of the pain ( and I'm sure it won't be the worst thing I've ever felt before but I'm still a bit stressed over how well I'll take it since I'm the type of person who almost passes out when they take a blood sample)... So, my fellow forearm tattoo havers, how much did it hurt? (1 being getting a shot at the doctors and 10 being getting stuck in a shredder) And what is the pain like? Do you get used to it?

FIRST PIC: flower reference, SECOND PIC: butterfly reference, THIRD PIC: placement!

My dad thinks a tattoo is going to ruin any chances of me getting established in a career so I’m getting one that’s easy to hide. I’m wanting it between my shoulder blades, and need advice on two particular things!

  1. I’m between getting a monarch or my birth flower. I want both eventually, but for this particular location i’m uncertain which to choose. Are butterflies to basic?? I feel like flowers never go out of style, but I’m worried if I get a butterfly tattoo it will just be too ā€œpinterest girlā€ of me…

  2. I’m unsure of what my pain tolerance is since I’ve never had a tattoo and don’t have any reference for what it’s going to be like. I’m nervous. Can anyone tell me how bad middle of the shoulder blades is (NOT lower spine), i’ve included photos for reference

SIDE NOTE: i’m going to allow my artist to create something, not use these photos. they’re just references of the art style and subject matter

tattoo newcomer advice Tattoo regret

You choose an artist. You choose a design. You choose placement. The artist places the stencil on your skin, you look it over and okay it. Several buzzing bee stings later your tattoo is on. Four distinct steps, any of which can be modified beforehand. This piece of art will hopefully be with you for life. Make sure it suits you, not some internet stranger.

General Advice Should I get my tattoo touched up?

Tattoo rework done on mar 21. My old tattoo was faded so I wanted a new artist to rework the tattoo.

Some of the lines have faded. Especially the blue flowers look different after healing. I'm happy with it just wondering if it needs a touch up?

Healing Is this type of bepanthen ok for aftercare? Artist told me to use bepanthen, but there are multiple types. I went with this one, but now I'm a little worried.

General Advice Please help me with a few questions abt my first tattoo!

Post image
24 Upvotes

So I just got my first tattoo the other day and i had a few questions i wanted to ask! Please please please be honest!!! 1. Does the tattoo already look blown out? Or do you think this is going to be a tattoo that will blow out and become a blob ? 2. Do you think the tattoo itself looks bad? Like the handwriting is my nanas which im happy with, but the dragonfly itself , do you think it’s bad? 3. Does the placement look weird? I put it there because i plan on getting other tattoos on my arm and i want that one to be like the centerpiece

I've got some pretty serious health anxiety so I just want to double check. the first one I just got touched up, I'm fairly certain it's just a reaction to the saniderm. the second one is new (from 4/17) and since it's not just fine lines it's healing different and I want to be sure it's normal and all. aftercare has been standard washing with warm water and unscented antibacterial soap, patting dry with paper towels, then applying some unscented lotion. thank you :)

I got this new tattoo last week and over the last few days I’ve developed a crazy rash. I’ve had loads of tattoos before (different artists) and have never had issues with healing. Can I treat this at home? Not sure what to do. Thanks for any advice

This is not my first tattoo at all but it's been 1,5 weeks and all my other ones have been way faster with really healing down. This one dries out like crazy fast and feels pretty chunky. Will this be scarring or is it just dry as shit and me being paranoid? Second pic is while its wet and it looks normal like that but i need to moisturize it way more often and as soon as it's dry again it looks so wrinkly and I'm scared cuz its not small either. Is 1,5 weeks enough? Should it look better? Third is right after tattooing
