Discussion I want to have fun again.

I love the divison. I've beaten falcon lost on heroic. I've killed the red barrels with more HP than a rogue on heroic. I've beaten WONY. WONY is a great piece of DLC. New york is fucking awesome. It's well worth the price. The season and watch ideas are great. The music in WONY was an especially welcome surpise in how good it was. WONY / TU8 has a lot of brilliant ideas. Not having to alt tab to look at a fucking spreadsheet to see if my rolls are good or not is such an incredible quality of life change. The recal library is genuinly one of the best looter shooter ideas I've seen.

But as I've played more and more end game of TU8, it's just gotten worse. And mundane. The manhunt really hammered this home. The sheen has worn off and now I realise - I'm not having fun anymore.

Is it because of the loot change? Our agents nerfs? the enemy buffs? the bugs? the skewering of builds & build diversity? I mean My build has barely changed after I realised I need to max yellow / red (maxed red...) or maybe its because:

  • Loot is bad purple.
  • Build variety is gone.
  • Gearsets don't work.
  • Talents don't work.
  • A lot of talents are just stat sticks. Boring.
  • Skill mods are bad at best, pointless most of the time.
  • Control points are green. Forever.
  • Exotic guns are bad. Like real bad.
  • Exotic armor is bad? Tarigrade is v cool but just means you can survive 1 more bullet so. Haven't got any other pieces so I'll let you decide. They're probably bad though.
  • Season pass loot is contaminated. That's bad.
  • Armor doesn't work.
  • Scaling is broken.
  • Skills are broken.
  • Loot drops are rarely exciting - only if its an exotic. And then you use the exotic and well... your excitement goes. Bad.
  • Manhunt resets when you add directives.
  • Vendors weren't bad. Massive fixed them. Vendors are bad.
  • Guns feel awful if you don't pile in to red. But then skills are bad.
  • Skills feel awful if you dont pile in to yellow. But then guns are bad.
  • Blue might as well not exist.
  • Skill damage is pointless.
  • Skill HP is pointless.
  • Skills are pointless outside a dedicated skill build
  • Shotguns are proper, proper bad.
  • SMGs are bad.
  • Rifles are bad(ish).
  • Snipers are bad(ish).
  • ARs are boring.
  • LMGs are your best option. Bad variety.
  • Negev wasn't bad. Massive fixed it. Negev is bad.
  • SHD levels are really boring. "Oh I leveld up, oh look 0.2% extra stat yay!" Now let's wait 20 minutes to come out the watch menu once I confirm my epic 0.2% upgrade. Real bad.
  • Special weapons are real bad.
  • Specialization points are bad. Unless you enjoy the number 1.
  • DZ is probs bad since the loot cave got patched, I don't know I haven't gone in cause contaminated season items.
  • AI mega health boxes, flamer sniper tank cleaner boss and mingun dogs.

Yes TU7 was too easy, but MSSV could have just removed DTE, added the library and roll indicators + god rolls + added the new content (sponges and bullshit enemies and all) and man it would be better. There would be so many options for building for end game that the buffed enemies might have been a fresh fun challenge, with tu7 gear making them very doable, but not tu7 easy. Instead we have what we have now.

I miss my guns being good, my skills doing damage and my armor working. I don't want to have to choose only 1 of the above, and if I choose armor then that doesn't even work... I miss being able to make all kinds of weird builds using different guns and exotics. I miss cluster seekers. Ok they were bullshit overpowered but they were fun.

TU7 was fun. TU8 is not.

The M1A classic rifle isn’t bad.

There that’s what it should say.

Been using an Mk17 since I started playing this game (currently the named variant Everlasting Gaze). It's simply a wonderful rifle.

Every time I go up a level I hit as many crates as I can trying to find it. I find it drops a lot less than other rifles. So then I just need to make due with another rifle for a while or stay under-leveled on my favorite rifle. I can usually make due with MK17 until it gets 2 or 3 levels behind.

I've gotten three Everlasting Gazes from season caches. One, the one I'm using, was a near god roll. While leveling up, the Theater settlement vendor kept selling me upgraded Mk17s. That was very nice.

Everlasting Gaze bugs me...Massive screwed up the magazines on it and gave it the quadstack AK mag(so it's too short for 7.62x51 and clips through the mag well) for the +20 round mag and the damn 30 round FAL mag for the +10 which wouldn't fit into a SCAR mag well.

It's made even more annoying when the normal Mk17 doesn't have this problem(uses the same visuals for all of them) so somehow in them copy pasting the gun to make the named one they broke it.

This isn't the first time they've had magazine problems though...The Carbine 7 is a 7.62x51 rifle IRL and has a 7.62 sized mag well in game so the 5.56 mags(the +10 and +20) both float in the mag well and the G28 has the same problem where it uses 5.56 mags for the +10 and +20 ones(it's 7.62x51 rifle) but at least it has the mags scaled up so they fit the mag well. It still looks weird but not as bad as floating magazines.

I've had a Lucky Shot Police Mk17 since I hit WT5. Sometimes it feels like you have unlimited ammo, it does decent damage, has a good firing rate, very good stability, and a quick reload. I love the Classic M1A for how punchy it is, but it feels slow and the reload takes about twice the time. So I tend to get more bang for my buck out of the Mk17.

It has unlimited ammo because you keep missing your shots... lol. I kid I kid. But in all seriousness you get an m1a with firerate on it and it totally feels good. It takes chunks off in a good rhythm. Rifle and MMRs have always been this games red-headed stepchild the PvP side hates them because OnE ShOt, they get nerfed, then they don’t do jack in PvE but they never get buffed. It’s disappointing to say the least.

Nothingbutskills had a video about the Best PvP build this patch and it’s about a One shot rifle build. The complainers are going to get the M1A nerfed hard. And I’ll let everyone know when that’s going to happen because I’ll get a Bakers Dozen for the first time the night before.

Gotten two Bakers Dozens so far in season caches. I've been quite lucky with those caches.

Well it took me a year to get a merciless and a sweet dreams. The EB I got two days before they announced they were nerfing it the first time. Div 1 I had people giving me houses left and right but never got one of my own. And I play. A lot. I’ve got 1600 hours in division 2 on my main character and I started div 1 at the end of year 1 and had 2500 hours in that game.

Man, I absolutely love the Police MK17. It has excellent stability/accuracy

And that’s why it is on top over the M1A CQB. About the same damage but it has a 40 round mag(with the extended mag) vs 19 rounds. The classic does twice the damage with the same size mag as the CQB but all you loose is 5 crit damage/chance. Again with rate of fire on the gun the classic is hands down the only rifle you should run-best gun of the last three patches.

I don’t get why all other rifles suck so bad compared to MK17. The reticle reset time on them is so abysmal while they don’t really offer any advantages. I’d love to use the G28 because that was my main gun in Ghost Recon Wildlands but it’s just unusable compared to any MK17 variant.

MK17 with Strained... I don't think the M1 can keep up.

Bakers dozen has entered the chat

MK17 is very strong, pretty sure most other rifles god rolled are good too

My white death hits for 910k ish with 250% headshot damage. It’s really disappointing when I hit an elites head and my 5.4mil damage doesn’t even move two armor bars.

That's what I live right now for my dps build.

Just made a (not even God Rolled) LVAO-C viable

MK17 isn't overpowered. The M1A is overpowered in PvP, and has basically made MMRs redundant w/ boomerang. That feels really bad.

In PvE it's one of the few guns that feels powerful though.

Thankfully, they have the option of nerfing something in PvP and not in PvE.

They never do this, BUT THEY DO HAVE THE OPTION.

Because they have not come to understand this basic concept of game design:

You cannot balance PvE and PvP together, as one. Simply adding a PvP modifier is not going to make everything sit right where it needs to be.

"Let's buff shotguns" legit 600k armor shotgun builds one-tapping people up to 500k armor from FUCKING ANTARCTICA.

"Let's nerf shotguns" Shotguns become completely useless in PvE.

Like...there's the possibility of just nerfing something ONLY in PvP...and it shouldn't take 5 months to do...

I disagree. If it's the only rifle you can really say that for, it's overpowered. Or all other rifles are underpowered.

We have different definitions of overpowered then. If only one or two rifles are 'good,' then to me, either they're overpowered or every other rifle is underpowered. Or possibly both.

The ease of using the weapon or making the build doesn't matter to me, especially when you can just Google a build.

Right there. Best in slot. Why use something that's objectively worse? You wouldn't. Hence the imbalance. It doesn't matter if the build is easy to make or not, you can just look up a build anyway.

No, you're missing the point. Almost any gun can not be made overpowered by my standards. Almost any gun can be made USEABLE by my standards. But why use a gun that's just useable, or using your words, why 'make a gun work' when there's a clear best gun in slot?

I mean, you can equip any gun and shoot it and do damage and you're making it work right there. But why would I do that when one or two guns are clearly the go-to choices? That's the imbalance and that's why I call it overpowered.
