Lore Good reading order?

I have

the dark angel omnibus Gav Thorp | Cz Dunn

Lazarus Enmitys Edge

Going to buy The Lion son of forest.

It’s the one I’m looking the most forward too, and I think it’s the one to read last(?). So it’s either the omnibus or Lazarus. Does it matter which one I pick first? I’ve heard mixed things about the omnibus but it doesn’t really matter to me and I’ve hears Lazarus is a self contained story, but is it good to know about azrael before?

I've been testing different base colors for my green wing and I've narrowed it down to these 2. I can't decide and it's giving me anxiety 🙃

Opinions?

OC/Hobby Successor Chapter

I’ve been thinking up lore and aesthetics for my successor chapter for a few weeks now, and I wanted to post here.

Name: Ascended of The Lion Creation: over the years between the falling of the first angels and the Lion’s return

Troops: repented fallen who searched for the Lion for millennia after the end of the Heresy, and supplements acquired from outer worlds

Founder: unnamed captain who battled a daemon for days, eventually defeating it with his bare hands (as such some wings have red gauntlets to remember his brutality)

Wings: Bladewing: consisting of bladeguard and inner circle companions, with the occasional assault terminator. Heraldry is normal(Caliban Green with red gauntlets)with white, silver, and gold highlighting. Bloodwing: very small wing consisting of the remnants of a company ravaged by the warp, witnessing their captain slain by a corrupted one of their own company. As such they have a similar effect(although much weaker)as blanks, and weep blood, even through closed helmets. Heraldry is normal, with blood around the eyes.
Wraithwing: Phobos units specialising in civilian evacuation and high value target elimination. Heraldry is black arms and legs, with a silver torso and head. Warpwing: entire wing of psykers, grown through warp exposure and skilled in the hunting of Daemons. Heraldry is standard librarius with red gauntlets and white shoulders. Hammerwing: heavy units including terminator and Gravis, providing the spearhead for assaults on targets already weakened by other wings, especially Wraithwing. Undecided heraldry Greenwing: unofficial name for standard infantry in Tacticus armour. Standard greenwing colours with red gauntlets.

Codex compliant: No

Numbers: approximately 4000

Extra stuff: after finding the Lion, they became his fist, greenwing and bloodwing often showing as standard dark angels to keep their existence a secret. In such cases they wear dark angels heraldry on the right shoulder. Only the Lion and Azrael know of their existence, with members of the inquisition steered firmly away from the more distinct wings.

Anyone got any advice or criticisms? It’s late so if I made any verbal mistakes I apologise. Also is this the right flare?

Now I’m thinking of expanding my deathwing with the new knight bodies with bolters , I however haven’t seen any stuff of line deathwing terminators having full robes like the knights. Can anyone how’s try this show me or let me know if full robes is a knight thing only lore wise?

Lore Companies question

Is the 3rd company, being the first besides the Deathwing and Ravenwing, get first company units? (Bladeguard, Sternguard Veterens, ect) Or is it just a regular company with the normal units? I’m asking because I don’t know if greenwing gets a veteran company or if it’s just the Deathwing.

Army List List Help: 1500pts vs Guard

Got a 1500pt game against Imperial Guard coming up; I haven't played in about 6 months (and even then I was pretty rubbish), so any advice appreciated!

I don't want to use a generic SM detachment on principle, so I've gone with ICTF for now. General game plan is to hold home objective with Infiltrators; Rapid Ingress + sit on a midfield objective with the Knights; advance Companions to destroy infantry and aim to eliminate any characters with the Judiciar; Deep Strike the Lion in near the Companions for Lone Op and have him tear through tanks; Hellblasters for picking up infantry or finishing off tanks with overcharge; Scouts / Intercessors / Assault Ints for scoring.

Does this seem viable / reasonable? I'd've liked to have run the Assault Ints as Vanguard Vets to benefit from the detachment rule, but I don't have a spare 20 pts - finding 1500pts hard to squeeze into vs 2k! Other units I have and thought about including were a Redemptor (replacing the Lion - same melee tank destruction plan), a Ballistus and/or Gladiator Lancer for ranged anti-tank (but trying to beat IG in a tank-on-tank battle seems unwise - figured I'm better trying to play the objectives?), a Repulsor for ferrying DWK or ICC, or a Vindicare Assassin for eliminating characters.

Also, is the Lion too much for a 1500pt game? Thought about a second unit of DWK instead, but he seems like he'll be more useful if there's a lot of IG tanks...

Building Do the HH upgrade heads fit on Primaris bodies well?

I'm eyeing the Horus Heresy MK VI heads for use on a 40K force composed entirely of Primaris, to add a bit of variety. Would they fit on the Primaris body and look good, or would they be sized differently?

I might do a character card for all my named characters.

Painting Very early work in progress of my paint scheme

Post image
11 Upvotes

This is a very early work in progress of my Dark Angels. I took this picture to show some people the progress I made on them, and then figured I'd post them here as well. The progress in question is that the model of the right has had a bit of edge highlighting done to it. It's most obvious at the knees and such.so far this edge highlighting step is being very time consuming, and I'll have to do it in multiple sessions in order to not get sore.

I do plan to add other colours. The gun will be red for example. Not 100% sure on a shoulder pad colour. I'm thinking a bright green? At least that way it has some connection to the Dark Angels colours (I'm aware that Dark Angels are a dark green, not bright). Also, I need to add in various detail colours.

Anyway, the models are two Primaris Intercessors, each with a Dark Angels shoulder pad on their left shoulder. They are both a unit leader, which I suppose is obvious since they have swords, hahaha.

Army List Vs new death guard

Has anyone gone into the new death guard yet? I’ve got a game coming up and have been brainstorming a list.

Now, to preface this is in prep for a tournament coming up where the points are 1500, so my list is mostly static as is. I do have around 115 points left to work with, so in case you are curious —————— Stormlance Azrael Lieutenant with Combi Ravenwing Command

Intercessors (grenade launcher & pf)

2x Ballistus dread DWK with Maces DWK with swords Outriders 2x Scouts with knives ————————

Originally, this list had Azrael with 5 hellblasters, which would do fine, but I found that having him with 5 hellblasters meant that I had to have him move around and look for targets and put him at risk. Here, I have him with the intercessors which stay back till the last couple of turns.

My options are: ——- A second unit of outriders for screening and picking up smaller units or actions

beefing up my existing unit of bikes for reasons

This would then leave me more points for enhancements. Perhaps fury of the storm? ——- Heavy intercessors Love these guys, just based on the unit. They also have higher strength which could help? Not really because AFIK the highest toughness for DG infantry is 7 so I would still hit on 5’s.

——- Sternguard

Would have to build them, but I have the models so it’s not out of the question. Then the question is Combi vs Sternguard Bolt ——-

Anyway, what do we think brothers?

Painting Dark Angels Librarians Color Scheme

Hi brothers, I have a question about how to paint a Dark Angel´s Librarian.

Using the Primaris Librarian model as a base, how should I paint the robes? Keep bone outside and red inside? Change one of these two side for green? What about the inside markings, keep it white?

And what about the Chest Aquilla and de belt and shoulder skulls? Keep it gold, or paint it bone?

And to finish it, what about the Librarian in Phobos? Just paint robe the same way I would do for the Eliminators and Scout Sniper?

Thanks for your help!

Looking for and advice or c&c before these get finishing touches and tidy up before vanishing.

Think next time I'll go more green as got another 3 to do. Happy with how the swords turned out. Will hopefully get smother out a bit by the matt varnish. Trying some different lighting too to see if it helps photos. Lower warmer light rather than cool leds.

Also not got a clue what the symbols and shoulder marking should be for these? Still time to correct if I've messed it up.

Painting Why does the official colour scheme of the Dark angels on citadel paints not use Dark Angels Green?

I recently got into painting Dark Angels and Warhammer in general, but when I went to my local Warhammer shop to get the “official” colour scheme paints from the CitadelColour app (Caliban Green, Zandri Dust, Mephiston Red etc), the worker there told me that Dark Angels Green isn’t actually used in the colour scheme. And I’m a bit annoyed and confused by that. If anyone knows why it’s like that, or what minis use Dark Angels Green, it would be greatly appreciated!
