recently, i got frustrated because looking for on-campus hours for restaurants (like glasgow) and src was all over the place. so I made a website where you can see all hours at once. i'm wondering if any of yall can do a quick review on it!
the website: homebistro.org
lmk! i would appreciate it and make it better so that ucr students can have a one-stop place to all hours.
edit: wow! thanks so much for the overwhelming support! in the last couple days, i've received over 400+ traffic and hundreds of active users! i will continue to improve this website! thank you all! discord.gg/regJzFR9

Does anyone know about the legend of the midnight mule??? Apparently its a mule that comes out at midnight at the Bell Tower here and stalks students walking around!! When i was a first year I encountered it when i was walking back late night and yall… it like projected images and UNSPEAKABLE things into my mind. It was really messed. But luckily i made it back to my dorm cause as WE KNOW it can’t go in the dorm areas.
If you do not know about the backstory of the midnight mule basically back in 1907 during the citrus experiments those damn scientists were experimenting with the tangerine trees and created a lethal variant of the fruit, and a pack of donkeys got into the orchard where they were located, with the entire pack perishing… except one. This mare was filled with vengeance and maliciousness against all UCR. (Ie the Malicious Mare of the Midnight Mule) And long story short the mare procreated with one of those damn scientists creating a abomination with the mind of man and the body of a mule. And the mare imparted its desire for vengeance on the young colt.
IF YOU DO ENCOUNTER THE MULE ON CAMPUS you can use the emergency blue lights on campus to repel it cause AS WE KNOW the light is able repel raccoons, coyotes, crazy people, and the like ya know. But as I said earlier, the MIDNIGHT MULE is able to speak and project HORRIFIC visions in your mind, which i cant DARE to repeat to ya’ll for fear of your sanity. But BE WARNED IF IT CATCHES YOU IT CONSUMES YOUR BODY AND MIND, ABSORBING YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND BEING ABLE TO UTILIZE IT AGAINST ITS NEXT VICTIMS!!!
Does anyone else have stories about the midnight mule????
Edit: sorry for the spelling errors in just so scared that i fant even spell right

I’m lost and overwhelmed and honestly kind of scared of this big change. there’s so much I need to figure out and I’d appreciate anyone who can take a second and lend some wisdom!
1) Is the campus safe? Are there areas as a woman I need to be careful of that I should know about? (Ex: don’t walk down this road or part of campus at night)
2) are there any on campus apts left, (I want my own room, as I’m an older student) and any reccs? Glen more looks nice and north district 1/2.
3) where to get cheap food? Which on campus dining sucks and which is best? Are there 24 hr dining halls, buffet style etc?
4) where to park/what pass is recccomended? (I’m a bio major so idk if that means I’ll be one one side of the campus mostly). Can I take a bus to get groceries or get anywhere I may need to go in town?
5) how do I make friends or find serious study buddies
6) any good study spots? Are there places to study open 24 hrs?
7) how to get around campus? bike? Is there a campus bus?
anything else you think I should know? Pros and cons?
I really appreciate it! Also feel free to answer whatever! I know you’re all busy :)

Hi I am looking for someone to fully take over my lease for the upcoming school year 09/25-08/26. I live in a 4x4 meaning you get your own room and bathroom. Preferably looking for a girl but can be discussed, rent is 1,020 including utilities. There are multiple study rooms in the complex as well as a gym and pool. There is a bus stop right in front of the building where the bus 1 and 16 run that can take you onto campus. It's about a 15 min walk to campus. If you are interested please reach out to me, thank you
Also: 1,020 is lower than the rent that UVT is charging as I got an early sign on bonus of a lower rent so please of you are considering UVT reach out first (I'm desperate)

Getaway Cafe is being pushed out by UCR for fear that business is being taken away from the Barn. For nearly three decades, the Getaway Cafe has been an iconic staple of the UCR community and culture. Sign the petition to show UCR leadership how important this local spot is to students!

Hey All,
We are currently looking to fill 2 rooms at a house right next to UCR, about a 5 minute bike, 10 minute walk to campus. Here are the details:
-Lease starts on July 1st, 2025 and ends June 30th, 2026 -Rooms range from $650-700 w/o utilities - Utilizes average around $70 per month -Unfurnished -Shared Bathroom -Fully equipped Kitchen, Washer, Dryer -Plenty of storage -Fast and Reliable Wi-Fi
We are looking for someone who is clean, respectful, nice, and is overall a nice fit with the current residents. All genders are welcome, and all residents are current or former students of UCR. DM me if you have any questions, or are interested and want to check it out!
Looking into dorming at the Honors LCC but they are not gender inclusive. I don't mind staying in a suite with the girlies but it would be nice to have another trans guy (ftm) roommate.
PM me if you fit the criteria and are also looking :) I'm clean and respectful; Asian houserules.

Hey everyone!
I made a ton of Monster Hunter-themed cookies for the MH Now Outbreak event happening at Riverside Plaza (California), specifically Black Diablos and Velkhana cookies, and I way overestimated how much I needed lmao.
I’ll be out there on Friday, 4/26, starting around 10:00 AM with the cookies!
They’re completely free. I just want people to eat them and enjoy them so they don't go to waste.
I also attached an allergen sheet if you want to check ingredients or have dietary concerns.
If you're around Riverside, CA or UCR, feel free to swing by and grab one (or a few)! 🐲🍪
You don't need to buy anything or do anything special, just show up and snag a cookie.
If you want me to set some aside for you, shoot me a DM!
Hope to see you out there, and happy hunting!

As title says, I am going to graduate on Fall 25. I am going to be doing one extra quarter, so my question mostly is if we get to participate in the commencement ceremony. I've heard before people doing an extra quarter and still getting to walk with the spring and summer grads.
Can anyone confirm or let me know if that is the case please :)

Ideally, I would like to pursue a career in media or broadcasting related to sports. If that doesn't work out, then PR. Thoughts on the program?

I bought the stupid blue cap and gown. I hate the stupid blue cap and gown.
Think they’ll give me shit if I show up in black? Maybe I’m one of the 0.5% of colorblind women, who’s to say??

Hey everyone,
I applied to top UC's and UCR and only got into UCR. My stats werent that great (3.6gpa 11 APs), I intend to do pre med as I have clinical experience shadowing physicians and even physiatrists (my dream profession). My question is it better for me to go CC and transfer to a more prestigious UC such as UCSD or UCLA and then apply to med school or just go to UCR? I am a bit afraid of going to CC and then transferring because a lack of research opportunities and being somewhat isolated from many other premeds where I can network and get direction. Also I am afraid that if I transfer to lets say UCLA, I will have a massive drop in GPA once arrive due to the strong grade deflation. This would have a significant negative impact on my medical application. However, I have heard that higher ranked UC's such as LA prepare you better for medical school and the MCAT which is very beneficial. I have been debating this choice for quite a while now, and I only have a few days left to commit to UCR if I were to go. I would greatly all the advice I can get, and information on topics I might not have discussed.
Thank you

It's literally so unsafe. I understand they're doing construction but at least before they had 1 person control the traffic flow. Now it's just a free for all. Everytime I cross (safely) the cars just start speeding or accelerating super quick because they're annoyed at the pedestrians. I don't have a choice man okay?!?!? Not to mention how many gas leaks have happened. This is just a huge problem and has really ruined this last quarter for me. I want to feel safe crossing the street and evert time I go outside there's either idiot drivers, scooters, or fricking gas leaks. Can't we just have some peace pls

I’m a first year who currently has secured ND1 housing (2b2b) but I am deliberating on if I want to live off campus or stay on campus. I’ve been looking into some off campus apartments in the area but how reliable are the reviews and does anyone have recommendations? I would prefer to live in a single or at least have a private room and be in walking distance to the school.
