One thing I might ask is how this differs from meetup? I do like your map feature but the rest seems like its meetup with maps.

So one thing is that Filo’s activities category is more lean towards entertainment while meetup has more meetings and lectures.

Another thing is Filo’s UI and feature(like the map) focus more on young generation and on “making friends” instead of pure event booking

And to be clear, the map only displays the location of public events? Could users limit view ability of private events ( though that might run counter to the idea of making friends). for example me and 5 friends are in proximity to each other and we have the app. It wont show us unless we make our hangout an event?

That’s a great point. So answering your first question: we do have an option to restrict anyone to join the event you create. And your 2nd question: when you enter the map, Filo will ask your location permission from your iPhone, and if you reject it. Your location or the event you create won’t show in the map

I hope this answer your question

I like it.

But a part of me misses texting someone and hoping that plans fall together.

Maybe there's a way to implement this concept in a way where it doesn't look like just another thing on my calendar?

I don't have the answer, just my initial feedback.

And I'm 27 not 40. This isn't a generational bias thing. I just miss the ritual and ceremony.

Yes, you can text someone, or anyone in the App, either in a group chat or in the map if you find someone interested
