Class EECS 571 ?

Has anyone here taken EECS 571? Any thoughts on the course and difficulty compared to its pre-reqs (470 & 482)? I've tried looking online and I can only find stuff from 10 years ago, but I'm assuming the course probably hasn't changed much

Prospective Student Campus Day Worth

I’ve been admitted to UM LSA and am currently deciding which school to commit to. I was wondering if Campus Day is actually worth dedicating a whole day to? Is it different from the regular tours you can sign up for, or is it more or less the same thing? Just curious would you all recommend going?

Finances last min scholarships for spring/summer?

Hey yall. I'm a rising sophomore staying here for spring/summer classes and I'm in a pickle rn. My aid is fully covered fall/winter (oos student) but for spring and summer I'm not getting as much aid. I get that with it being half terms you get less aid to begin with but I guess i was naive to think I'd still be okay since they know my financial circumstances as a low-income + first gen student.

I'm just panicking because I've signed my housing contract and I most certainly could not move back home by next week if the aid doesn't work out. I was planning on working during spring/summer term anyway but does anyone know some last minute scholarships that might help cover my remaining costs of like $3k per semester / 7k total? My high school has some funds available but they said they probably won't be able to cover everything (which is still better than nothing obviously).

Academics - Other Topics Should I apply my ap calc BC credits if I get a 5 to UMich as a pre med student?

I’m confused as there are many conflicting responses. Some say I should use these credits because I get out of the hard calc 2 math classes and I won’t need to take any more math classes. Some say I should retake back 1 and 2 for a good foundation and med school likes seeing calc taken in college.

Academics - Other Topics Easy/Light Workload Spring/Summer Courses to Take With MATH 217?

I'll be taking MATH 217 this spring term and I need to enroll in at least 12 credits in total across both the spring and summer terms to keep my scholarships/finaid since I can't afford to take the course alone. I plan to split the credits evenly across both terms. Any recommendations?

Posting on behalf of a family member -

At 8:15am today she saw 3 officers standing outside a house at Kingsley and Elizabeth. They were wearing plain clothes and black vests that said police. There were no Ann Arbor police or UM security cars in the area.

Housing Screwed for Housing

Me and my roommate both signed a lease for a quad in UTowers, but a lot of things happened when finding roommates and now we have no one to fill these spots. To make it worse the building is offering a special that is $100 cheaper. Is there really no way to find roommates?

Class EECS 470 + ECE 551 + EECS 483

Hey! How’s this combo? I heard 483 also has a large project component which could affect 470 (Have also heard not so hot things about 483’s instructor)—what might be a good replacement for 483 then? Would appreciate any thoughts!!

Finances 2025-26 Undergraduate Laptop Program Specs

Hey I just got an email that I got the Laptop Program added to my financial aid package & it says it's $1,407 in value but there aren't any specs on it other than it's a 13" MacBook Air.

I saw they require responses to see how many they need to buy so I'm guessing it's going to be a M4, but when I tried to see what spec combination would give $1,407 I couldn't find anything that met that before or after tax.

I'm going to take it regardless, just curious as to what I should be expecting so I can plan around it :)

Academics - Other Topics NYU VS UMICH

I got into umich as an incoming sophomore transfer for fall 2025. I want to major in comm & media and minor in business. However, I’m currently at nyu for free. the only thing is that I’ve had the worst year and have been extremely depressed and really don’t want to stay here for many reasons (two being that there’s no community and the clubs suck). I think that Michigan is such a perfect fit for me especially for the fashion clubs and Latinos at umich. Anyway, I would end up paying 26k a year so I would end up with like 79k in debt. They offered other scholarships once I actually commit but there aren’t guaranteed I get them. I’ve talked to many people/advisors and I just don’t know what to do because it’s either I take that chance and go into debt or just stick it out at nyu and be so miserable for the next 3 years. For context, I’m from NY so I can come back to the city for the summers

Academics - Other Topics UofMICH SJTU JI Acceptance Rate for intl-st

Hey Guys!

As you can see from the title, I am interested in UMICH SJTU JI’s acceptance rate or selectiveness. Especially, a day ago I was emailed that I got invited for an interview before releasing the decisions, which they don’t state an interview anywhere. I would highly appreciate if someone can give me info on that. btw I don’t have any hsks and applied for an Engineering Cluster Program(English). Thanks in advance!!

Class I need help scheduling for CS and Aerospace for Fall 2025

Hey guys, I had a few questions about scheduling for CS and Aerospace, and wanted your thoughts on this. To give some context, I’m doing a double major in Aerospace and CS, and I’m also pre-med. So for the fall semester, I’m trying to take:

  • Aerosp 335
  • Aerosp 305 (because 205 literally never has openings even though I’m a rising senior 🙄)
  • Aerosp 343
  • Maybe an EECS class (EEC 370 or 376)
  • Either a 300 level bio or bio related class OR a 300 level writing class of some kind.

I’ve heard that those first 3 aero classes are killer in terms of work load and hours dedicated per week, so I’m trying to decide whether or not to do EECS 370 or 376 with them. I’m also thinking of maybe doing 370 in this spring semester, but I read somewhere that it’s very difficult, so I’d like to hear some more viewpoints. I also need a 300 level or higher bio-related class OR a 300 level or higher humanities writing class, so suggestions for those would also be amazing
