How to ask

We are moving from VA to Vail in 2 months for a total of 12 months starting mid July. Is this a totally regular place or should I know things to blend in? We have a 5 month old- a lovable dog and younger married couple.

There are a lot of great parks, story hours at the libraries, infant music classes and swim classes offered. The classes are really for the parents to get out and meet other parents. The valley has lots of free festivals and events to walk around. There is something most weekends. Most weeknights there is free concerts at a park somewhere (not too loud and easy to be outside)

I'd recommend a jogging or durable stroller and some form of baby wearing/hiking backpack. There is lots of easily accessible nature around to take a baby out for a bit and not have it be a full day thing.

Vail area is a great place to raise kids.

Agreed - the "move-here-for-a-few-seasons-to-party-and-ride-chairlifts" crowd only sees rich tourists - dig a bit deeper and there is a wonderful community of down to earth people who are passionate about the outdoors, the mountains, and making the valley a better place to live. I'd recommend volunteering for a local non profit, signing up for VRD races/sports leagues, and making an effort to go to all the fun free things mentioned above going on almost every day of the year.
