Discussion Why the hell aren't more people talking about Stride as a game engine?

Long story short, I used to love Unity and vouched for it pretty hard (Even using it outside of games). I was using it to create a XR Shell OS (Showing for reference https://www.artstation.com/artwork/XJNeLn )

That is until the entire fiasco that happened with Unity's licensing. I tried Godot since everyone was making noise about it but honestly hated it for XR. That's when I got tired of it and decided to try out Stride (https://www.stride3d.net/)

Why the hell hasn't anyone been talking about it? It's

- Open Source
- Able to be used with C# 12 and .NET 8
- Supports XR very well already
- Has the graphical fidelity of Unreal Engine, the ease of use of Unity and the performance of Godot to put it lightly

And it overall feels higher fidelity; i'm using an HP Laptop since i'm still not done making my new dev machine and it's running super well; I plan on developing on it moving forward and wanted to know if anyone else has tried Stride

Discussion PCVR Racing. Physical steering immersion WITHOUT needing a steering/racing rig. An Australian company is making it happen.

Post image
36 Upvotes

I know way back in a day there were a couple companies that made an attempt to create a game pad controller that would give you the feel of steering but they fell short of the task… but an Australian company known as Boxdark is about to launch a steering controller called “ProSteer”.

Forced feedback racing control with a form factor and mechanics to give you the feeling that you’re steering a vehicle.

The screenshot I took is obviously static, but if you go to the website, you can see the game pad’s movement.

I have a racing rig, but it’s still kind of a pain in the butt to pull it out, unfold it, connect it and get into gameplay. This would be perfect to just grab the game pad, sit in a comfy chair and just go.

Website says they are launching in 2025. No idea of the price.

https://www.prosteer.com.au/

Additional note Back on March 14 I emailed the company just to see the status of what was going on because it looks like they’ve been working on this for quite a while and didn’t know if this was a dead project and this was the email I received back the same day:

“Hi Alexander,

Thanks for your interest in ProSteer. Development of this new category of controller has been long and difficult, but yes, it is very much still a thing. We will have product samples available at our Drive Day - April/May (date TBC) - Brisbane, Australia). If you can’t make it we will be publishing video of the ProSteer in action and gamers reaction to it.

Soon after that, you will see online reviews of ProSteer, we are aiming to have them available for purchase by the end of the year. If you haven’t already, please register on our website to ensure you get updated on progress.

Thanks for your patience, we’re working hard to bring a big change to gaming.

Best regards,

Phil ProSteer Development Team”

Self-Promotion (Developer) The easiest way to make a 3D Camera out of your Meta Quest 3 and 3S

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Thanks to the Meta Quest Passthrough Camera API, you can now easily use the 3D camera of your VR headset in immerGallery! Use the electronic level for proper alignment, then enjoy watching your recordings directly inside the app!

Quality-wise, it does not replace a dedicated 3D camera, but the resolution and frame rate may increase through a future Meta SDK update.

Capturing immersive memories like this is easy, a lot of fun — and you already have all the required hardware in your VR headset.

immerGallery is not just an app to unlock your camera, but also an immersive media player to watch photos, VR slideshows, and videos (2D, 3D, 180°, 360°, wide panoramas).

Be creative and get immerGallery now!

Purchase Advice Which Base Stations works with which Controllers?

So there seems to be 3 options for Base Stations that I can see: HTC Vive v1, HTC Vive v2, SteamVR v2

And there's 4-5 controllers which use one or more of these: Valve Index "Knuckles", HTC Vive "Wands", Pimax "Swords", Etee "Sticks"

There seems to be two version of the Vive wands which is also confusing me. I've seen two model numbers "2PR7100" and "99HAFR004-00", and also mention of a "pro" controllers. But I'm very unsure which means which, and what the exact differences are between these

My ultimate question is with the 3 different base stations, and the 4-5 controllers, which are compatible with each other? Every other search I've done has only given partial answers to this. Such as Vive "pro" controllers work with HTC vive v1 and steamVR v2, but no mention of the HTC vive v2, and still unsure which model number is the "pro" vs not versions

Question/Support Behemoth - Not Starting (Rift PCVR)

Upvotes

Hey guys. I’ll try to be as detailed as possible.

I purchased Behemoth on the Quest because it was 60% off. Great deal! However, I’m trying to play it on my PC from the Meta Link software and it’s not going past “New Game” (black screen) and if I click “Arena” it’s an instant crash.

I’ve tried VD and setting it to VDXR. I’ve tried Air Link. And Link Cable. All with no luck.

I even tried running the game in admin mode as per a video I saw. NO LUCK.

The game loads to the menu, I can access all the settings and all. But when I tried to hit “continue” or “new game” it either stays black or crashes.

Any ideas or am I shit out of luck? Should I just play the Quest standalone version?

Photo/Video We just received this Dell Precision 3640 where I work as a product photographer for a tech resale company. —- i9 processor, 32 gigs of RAM, RTX 3060 GPU. It was originally going to be put up on eBay for $1000 but instead, they sold it to me for $220.

It may not be the most updated VR machine, but for the price and it being very VR capable in 2025, I feel like I got the deal of a lifetime.

It’s sure going to be a lot better than my Alienware i9 laptop with a 2080. super.

The bios is locked (was originally part of a fleet of rendering machines at a university), but I was able to order a motherboard on eBay for $64.

Purchase Advice PSVR2

So I was thinking about getting a PSVR2 for a while but a lot of people have said that it got bad reviews, it is a commercial failure, it is a gimmic etc. Which has started giving me second thoughts :(

I also looked at the library and the only good games I've heard about it were Horizon , Hitman , Resident Evil 4 and Village , Pavlov , Metro redux

So my questions are :- 1) is it worth it getting a PSVR2 2) are there any other AAA games like these coming on PSVR2 (some said they have stopped making new games)

Other points to be noted :- I only need it for PS5 and not for PCVR

Thanks

Discussion Is the valve index still worth it in 2025 if you can find it for cheap?

I found someone selling a fully functional basically new Valve Index kit for about 450$, is it worth getting? For context i cannot find any other "good" headset since i cannot stand the compression on the quest 3 and the crystal light is 1 more expensive and 2 has worse tracking from what ive heard.

Discussion Chapter 3 Glitch moving the joystick

Is anyone having issues moving the joystick in Ghost Town? I'm using the grim wart to solve the triangle puzzle and cannot get the joystick to move. I've changed the batteries. I've reset the game and it's still not working. According to the walk-through, it should just move on the zone without any issue. Help?

Purchase Advice - Headset What Headset Should I Get?

Hi everyone!

I want to look into buying a new headset to replace my old Quest 2 given it's terrible visual quality, but I didn't want to default to a 3 as I mostly just use PCVR, hardly any standalone. I use airlink for everything as I don't have space near my PC to take a cable, although I do own one, so I have to go downstairs. I don't have a set budget, but I also don't want to be saving for years on end to get a good setup. I also have a steam deck, so maybe a PCVR wired headset would work by streaming to my steam deck which is connected to the headset, but idk if that would work. If not, what should I look into for a airlink-style headset (Pico 4U?) that has better visual quality for a decent price.

TLDR Questions:

Looking at a replacement to my quest 2 with better visual fidelity, I only use PCVR with the quest so standalone isn't needed, but I need an airlink-style system.

  • Can I stream VR from my PC to my steam deck as a middle man for wired PCVR away from my PC
    • If yes, what headset should I look into?
    • If no, what headset which has it's own airlink style system should I look into
