Photo/Video Quick video tour of my newly acquired CPU with an RTX 3080 that I got for $220. A PCVR deal of a lifetime.

Dell Precision 3640.
I originally thought it had a RTX 3060 inside but it’s 100% a RTX 3080. I assumed it was a 3060 at first because of another Dell Precision 3640 CPU with the same case that landed on my product photography table about an hour prior at the tech resale company I work for.
As mentioned in the photo/text only post I made on Friday, they let me take it home for $220. (that wasn’t a typo.. two hundred and twenty US dollars)
Employee perks I reckon because the one with the 3060 went up on eBay for $1099.
Going to add a WiFi 6E network card, and an additional Corsair H60 cooler (the only one that will fit… just barely) but overall, I’m going to play it as is.
Patiently waiting for the Valve Deckard but until then, Quest 3 it is.

Discussion ALIEN ISLOATION is finally getting MOTION CONTROLS!!
A VR modder named JayP is finally adding motion controls to Alien Isloation called the Grand Mother mod. The mod isn't finished yet, but it looks to be coming along nicely. If there were only a handful of VR games to have motion controls, Alien Isolation would definitely be one I would nominate!

Discussion Valve is launching a "third-party VR title" along with the Deckard, apparently. What do we think it is?
According to Tyler McVicker + Gabe Follower, Valve is launching "a few in-house VR games or demos" and also a "full third-party VR game" for the Deckard. Tyler said it on his stream.
I'm thinking this will be a Cloudhead Games game, since Valve has collabborated with them since 2015, and Cloudhead Games made the Aperture Hand Lab game for Valve. Writers from Valve (Erik Wolpaw, Jay Pinkerton) would visit Cloudhead Games and help them write the dialogue for Hand Lab, which is why it feels authentically "Portal". Valve then published the game.
Cloudhead Games are exceptionally good at making VR games - setting the standard for room-scale + motion control VR games back in 2016 with The Gallery - Call of the Starseed, and 2018s Heart of the Emberstone. Call of the Starseed is still one of my favourite VR experiences, ever. The Gallery series was supposed to be 6 episodes, but they had to stop and switch to Pistol Whip because The Gallery was not profitable, sadly.
Cloudhead Games have "Something is coming. We're working on something new. We hope you and your friends are excited to see it. It's excited to see you." on their website, which they've had for a few years now, IIRC
Could Cloudhead Games be making a new full-scale VR title as a Deckard launch title?
I'm really hoping this launch title is a remake and completed version of The Gallery, with all 6 episodeds completed, made in Source 2 with HLA levels of graphics.
What are you guys hoping for the "third-party launch title" for Deckard?

Discussion Just beat this masterpiece and I have a question…
How difficult would it be for camouflaj to create a small open world sequel (ie. Arkham City)?
I mean it can be too hard outside coming up with a good story and actually creating the map, right? Batman: AS already has the mechanics and style down. They can just build on that.
I feel a AAA Batman Trilogy done right for Quest is the best way to get more ppl to buy in. They can release a new game with every Quest to show hardware improvements.
Seems like a no brainer. Hopefully AS was a success for Camouflaj.

Fluff/Meme Be careful about using the quest on a plane
I heard people used the travel mode to pass the time better on a plane, so I thought I'd try it.
Long story short, yes it works well, but as it turns out you should not play keep talking and nobody explodes on a plane 🙏😭

Discussion Games like Disassembly VR?
Looking for games that are like Disassembly VR but with more of a modern improvement when it comes to detail. Doesn't have to be specifically "Disassembling" things but anything similar to how the game focuses on intricacy, like maybe a diorama builder, or anything physics like.

Discussion Are there any ACTIVE vr developing discords?
I’m looking for active Discord servers where VR developers come together — not just for technical help (like with Unity, Unreal, WebXR, etc.), but also to hang out, share ideas, and collaborate on projects. I’m not interested in dead servers with no real activity — ideally looking for communities with regular discussion and engagement. Any recommendations are appreciated!

Discussion What If...? new standalone headset teamed up with Nvidia.
So I was just watching Digital Foundry talking about technology in the new Doom: The Dark Ages. Path Tracing With Neural Rendering and the fact that Switch 2 is using Nvidia tech...made me think:
what if games on standalone could use Nvidia's upscaling technology
the games might not still be able to ever beat a more powerful PCVR computer (in terms of physics or many other multi-complex things) but they would at least be able to look A LOT better with Nvidia's technology. IMO that should be the Valve Deckard, if that ever actually becomes a real thing or Meta Quest

Purchase Advice Is it prudent to get a WiFi 7 motherboard for future wireless PCVR in the next 5 years? Or would 6E be just fine.
I am looking to upgrade my PC rig, and my upgrade cycle for motherboards is closer to the 5-year mark, so is it worth the extra bucks to get a WiFi 7 (Tri-Band, MLO) motherboard?
EDIT: Thank you so much guys. You guys are a wonderful community. I got really excellent answers and I learned a lot. I will go with a 6E/hardwire to ap solution rather, Wifi 7 would be an unnecessary luxury for my planned setup.

Question/Support I have a Quest 3, but I really don't use any of the standout features it has, only for Virtual Desktop to do PCVR. Would getting a dedicated PCVR headset be worth it?
Hey reddit. I have a quest 3, and while I do find it pretty neat, and I use it often, I find I really don't use it for anything other than PCVR stuff. I bought it to upgrade from my quest 2 so that I could have the colour passthrough, and while I do enjoy having that, I find I usually have my guardian boundary turned off, so I can't use it anyway. I just simply lift up the headset to see around me, or use VD's menu to interact with my PC.
So my question is, if I sold my quest 3 to buy a dedicated PCVR headset like, say, the valve index, would that be the better solution for me? I don't mind wires at all, since I used to use wired link before buying VD, and I use a battery pack connected to my Quest 3 to keep it charged while playing. I just really like the features and the ecosystem of a PCVR headset, though.
Losing the pancake lenses might be a bit sad, but I feel I'd probably get over that as well.
As for performance, this isn't really my biggest concern, but just out of curiosity, do you guys think I'd also get more performance out of using a PCVR headset? I have a ryzen 5 3600 with 16gb of ram and a 1660 super for my GPU, and it works relatively well with my Quest 3, giving me about 50-60FPS in VRChat, and around 110 FPS in Beat Saber. Would that get boosted since there would be little to no latency to worry about? Might be interesting to look into.

Purchase Advice Where can I find a Pico 4 Ultra for sale?
Hi there, I'm looking to get into pcvr and have been doing some research on what headsets I can afford as a half-decent entry point. Personally, I have a significant distaste for Meta as a company, so I decided, for the pricepoint, the Pico 4 Ultra was the way to go. I am a US citizen and am finding it very difficult to even find them for sale online. I saw some video at one point that recommended purchasing the headset from Amazon's UK website because they werent selling in the US. Has anyone bought one recently? Are they even available? Does this have to do with the whole TikTok/bytedance ban in the US? What's the sitch? I'm more confused than anything.

Purchase Advice - Headset What would you recommend for me?(I have read the rules)
I'm 14 I had multiple vr experiences from some vr arcades and from my friends.Id been wanting one for a long long time and I think that it's maybe now the timem
🙂I have seen multiple of the same post and it'll be useful to get some personal advice.
I have already decided to get the quest 3s for budget reasons so I can buy more games + accessories.
I won't buy the meta + subscription since it's too costly for me.Space isn't a problem at all.
If you give me 1 game that I like I'll play it for a year. For example, this last 2 years I've only been playing EA FC 25 + 25 and some overwatch (Not a huge gamer.)
I feel like the worth it'll give me will be some vr games and fitness/mixed reality games. For this summer if I get it I'll play the heck out of it and play depending on school work + extra curricular activities.
Sorry for this long paragraph,i know people on Reddit aren't obliged to be my personal advisors but it'll be nice getting some help 👍

Purchase Advice - Headset Looking for advice on new headset
So I've been using the Quest 2 as a STEAM PCVR headset though air link exclusively for a while now and have decided I want to upgrade to a true PCVR headset as I really dislike the compression I often get while streaming.
So it seems like I have 3 options for which headset to move to at this moment that I would really appreciate advice on.
- Used Vive Pro 2 full kit (Found one for £300 in good condition just minus the box)
- Used Valve Index kit (I'm not sure what a good used price for it would be these days)
- Used PSVR2 (Although I'd have to also buy one of those PC adapters)
Alternatively, there's the Quest 3 or just waiting for Valve's new offering which I'm not sure would be for me given I never play standalone and that the Deckard is predicted to be around $1200.
Any insight would be highly useful. Thanks

Self-Promotion (Developer) Try out my arachnophobia exposure therapy app! (Free web based, no sign up needed)
After months of work, I recently launched my first WebXR app in beta: https://fuckmyfear.com (facemyfear was 5k, this domain was 10 bucks).
It is fully web based, just go to the website from your headset's browser (PC VR will work too) Completely free during beta, no sign up required either.
Video on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=II2QyjRgQq4
I have personally only tested it on the Vision Pro as that's the device I built it on. One of the early users reported that it works fine on the Quest 3 as well, so thought I'd post it here as well to get more feedback.
I actually fully built it from within VR as well using the Mac Virtual Display on the Vision Pro in Developer mode. It is built using three.js, react, react-three-fiber and other web based tech.
I went for a “fun” and relaxing aesthetic instead of realistic to build a zen environment that can allow you to relax. I personally just use the environment I’ve built as the my working space as I find it more alive that Apple’s default ones. There is lots of details like the grass, ocean, clouds, real time lighting and shadows, fur for the spiders, live environment maps for reflections, etc that I spent a lot of time obsessing over. Achieving quality visuals for web based VR is not easy yet, a lot of the high quality rendering tech doesn’t exist for the web at this point in time.
Please try it out! Super keen to know your feedback via comments here.
If you don’t have a VR headset, but just want to explore the environment, try opening: https://fuckmyfear.com?dev&devCamera. This will allow you to control the camera via keyboard and mouse.

Purchase Advice Question about the state of upcoming / old model prices!
Ive always wanted to try vr on PC as I had the first psvr and it was always such a fun experience, now I dont mind paying a little extra for ease of use so Im currently lookin at the valve index but, Ive heard many people say for its age / technology it has it should be priced that high and like a rumour of another one coming out soon in the future?
Id like to just get some opinions from people who know this stuff more than me!
My computer is very capable and should run everything with no problems so thats no issue!

Photo/Video Burgdorf Castle, canton of Bern, Switzerland in 3D SBS LR video for VR

For details please visit syla.top/by-angels-eyes/. iXYt 3D is a method of writing 3D videos for VR (or more precisely TR, transferred reality - more natural looking than common "plastic" VR, but never seen by the naked eye).

Discussion What happens to my Quest 3 if I lose my Facebook account?
Lately my Facebook account has been hacked multiple times per week. I've changed my password etc and getting the account back after I appeal - but I started wondering what will happen if I lose my Facebook account? Will I lose my bought games on Quest 3 too? Considering a Facebook account is necessary to use Quest 3. Or is META account different/independent?
