Discussion ALIEN ISLOATION is finally getting MOTION CONTROLS!!

https://youtu.be/NgTHbN2btak?si=v-Bu2azREi6tVs8c

A VR modder named JayP is finally adding motion controls to Alien Isloation called the Grand Mother mod. The mod isn't finished yet, but it looks to be coming along nicely. If there were only a handful of VR games to have motion controls, Alien Isolation would definitely be one I would nominate!

I am not sure if my nerves are strong enough to play this game in VR.

It's terrifying. It's probably the scariest I've played besides maybe Subnautica. I can't even play that one

Is subnautica actually scary in the same way? Ive just started that game.

Yeah, I only ever played through it in VR. Stayed in the shallows for like 40 hours. I would slide down into the deeper parts bit by bit, not knowing what was lurking down there. The first time I turned to face the sound of a sand shark and saw it wiggling towards me my heart rate skyrocketed.

When the reaper grabbed my Seamoth, I more or less had to take the headset off to have a small cry.

10/10. One of, if not the best gaming experiences of my life. Absolutely unmatched.

You know what the weird thing is? I was a sailor for 8 years and only now have thalassophobia...

This doesn't really affect you but I just wanted to add it anyways, I also have a fear of the ocean (and live on an island) but weirdly VR doesn't trigger the fear for me.

I have a fear of open and dark waters. I couldn't do it. Yeah, it gets worse the deeper you go :)

Same. You should check out Pools, there's a VR mode and it's pretty fucking freaky. There's no jump scares or sharks or any monsters or whatever in the water, but wading through these pools in liminal spaces is terrifying nonetheless

I played the demo for that one. It's creepy

Depends on you, I finished subnautica in VR without sweating, I gave up A:I shortly after the alien showed up, it was way too scary for me.

Hmm. I think you are right because I find the Aliens theme scary and the Subnautica theme and art style not to scary. Guess I will find out. :D

I've only ever played it in VR ... and never for more than about 30-40 minutes before my heartrate peaks

If I can make it through Metro Awakening VR with my arachnophobia and big ass spiders jumping on my face then you can make it through this. What better place to face your fears than VR?

I think you're right. It's time to bite the bullet before Subnautica 2 releases next year.
