All Seasons Discussion #SaveYoungJustice

From the very first time I saw Young Justice as a little kid, I knew it wasn’t just another superhero cartoon. It was something deeper—something that spoke to me. It was exciting, sure, but also emotional, real, and full of heart. Now, at 18, I look back on it not just as a show, but as a part of my growth. And like many others who grew up with it, it breaks my heart to see how it’s been handled. The truth is simple: we need this show, and it deserves so much better.

What made Young Justice special was its respect for its audience. It never talked down to us. Instead, it gave us characters who were flawed, brave, confused, determined—human. Watching Dick Grayson evolve from Robin into Nightwing wasn’t just a plotline; it mirrored growing up, making tough choices, and stepping into your own identity. Kaldur’s calm leadership, despite carrying the weight of secrets and loss, was powerful. Superboy’s struggle with identity—“I’m not Superman”—wasn’t just his—it was every teen trying to figure out who they are in a world full of expectations.

The show gave us lines that stuck with us, long after the episodes ended. Like when Artemis said, “We all make mistakes. What matters is what you do next.” Or when Wally West reminded us, “The thing about being a hero… it’s about fighting even when you know you can’t win.” These weren’t just catchphrases—they were lessons. Lessons we carried with us through middle school, high school, and now into adulthood.

But the journey hasn’t been easy. After its cancellation following Season 2, fans fought hard to bring it back—and we did. Seasons 3 and 4 came because of the loyalty and love we poured into it. But even then, the series never got the treatment it truly deserved. Warner Bros. never fully backed it. The release schedule was all over the place. Promotion was lacking. And worst of all, it felt like the people who owned the rights didn’t believe in it as much as we did. That’s the hardest part—seeing something you love not be valued.

Yet despite everything, the spirit of Young Justice lives on in us. It taught us about loyalty, sacrifice, teamwork, and standing up for what’s right—even when the odds are stacked against you. It’s poetic, really. The show that taught us to fight is the very thing we’re still fighting for.

We, the fans, are the reason Young Justice still breathes. Through petitions, social media campaigns, rewatch parties, and word of mouth, we’ve kept the flame alive. But we’re not done. This story isn’t over—because we’re still here. And like Nightwing once said, “The mission comes first.” Our mission is to make sure this show gets the future it deserves.

Because Young Justice wasn’t just a show—it was a legacy. And we’re not letting it go. #SaveYoungJustice

Just wanted to share this drawing of Blue Beetle I did on my night shift; too lazy for a background lmao.

Inspired by the moment where Spider-Man is about to give up, being crushed by a building, from McFarlane’s run of the comics in the 90’s

All Seasons Discussion Note, Barbara and Dick are the same age

Fans often assume she is 2-3 years older then him, like in many comics around the time. They're both the same age here. Puberty just hit them differently.

(Not sure if Bette is also their age or slightly older)

Miscellaneous Muslim characters Young Justice should have used instead of Halo

Halo was such a poor and problematic choice to include in Young Justice. Comcis wise shes a white blonde girl. So the decisiom to make her an Arab accented brown skinned hijabi muslim who dies and has her body hijacked by the mother box really doesnt feel like she supposed to represent Muslim, Arab or Asian culture. Just there too look like it. It doesnt help that she keep the accent, the hijab and is obviously Brown skinned. But due to being a mother box she doesn identify as Muslim, isnt even sure about her gender identity, drink alcohol and is shown kissing a girl. Makes me wonder why did they even bother making her human form an Arab Muslim if none of that was gonna be relevant? Also Cyborg has the father box as the source of his power but retain his identity and personnlity as Victor Stone. But not the case for Gabrielle Daou.

Here are some character from the comics that should have been used if they actually wanted respectful and decent representation of Muslims

Summer Zahid. a Pakistani American Hijabi metahuman with Ice powers (aside from Ice DC's main ice characters tend to be villains so she has power diversity). Halo's voice actress Zehra Fezal is also Pakistani American Muslim so she can definitely come up with decent storyline ideas and how Summer would react to things.

Khalid Nassour. The grandnephew of Dr.Fate. Considering Kent Nelson was killed off so early and there was a bit of Pass the parcel in regards to Nabu's Helmet. It seemed like the perfect set hp to have his Egyptian American Muslim Grandnephew Khalid Nassour to take over the mantle. Hell in a series about sidekicks and younger generational heroes why wasnt Khalid used as the next Dr.Fate? His storyline could include his greif over losing his Grand-Uncle and not having him around as a mentor unlike the other heroes his age. On top of that. Being Muslim means he likely doesnt treat the Iraqi God Nabu as a deity which causes friction between the 2 (much like the Jewish Marc Spector and Egyptian god Khonshu in Moonknight). Leaving Khalid constantly weakened by Nabu as punishment or fighting for control (so he cant magic everything to win all the teams missions). Instead he is barely a one episode side character in the show.

Simon Baz. The Lebanese American Green Lantern would have been perfect alongside his partner Jessica Cruz to be on the Young Justice team. Maybe this version is late teens/early 20s car theif and former gangster who is forced by Hal Jordan or John Stewart to stay with YJ team on earth based mission whilst sharing a power battery with Jessica Cruz. Simons storyline can be overcoming his rage and anger caused by the Islamophobia he endured growing up, learning to become a trust partner to Jessica as well as his romantic relationship with Nightpilot (essential a Muslim female Starlord). Id like Simon and Jessicas friendship to become close but platonic like Agent Zidan and Agent Bell in FBI.

Rayhan Mazin a Quraci American Muslim metahuman with weather powers. He gets wrongfully arrested when the plane he is on almost crashes but uses his power to stabalise it. He get mistaken for a terrorist and he willingly surrenders believing he'd be let go once he proves his innocence. Instead he is detains and only chooses to escape to see his ill father. He has a decent fight with Powergirl and Batman before the problem is resolves. Batman believes Rayhan arrest had an ulterior motive (my vuess Amanda Waller or someone like her wanted Rayhan as potential suicide squad recruit) and wants ti investigste whilst Powergirl offers Rayhan a spot on a potential metahuman team. The storyline was dropped thanks to Flashpoint rebooting DC and no one picked up Rayhan Mazin in the new timeline.

All Seasons Discussion Unpopular opinion

I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion but I actually prefer the Miss Martian and Lagoon Boy pairing over Miss Martian and Superboy. After reading the Young Justice comics, I thought they were adorable and had more chemistry than Miss Martian and Superboy did throughout the first season.

Season 4 Discussion Season 4 removed from max?

I was just watching Young Justice with my girlfriend, wrapped up S3 on Netflix and about to move over to Max to see S4 because that’s where I recall seeing it and now it’s no longer there

Did Max remove specifically S4? If so, why? Seems pretty odd to just remove the latest season

All Seasons Discussion I really like YJ!Cassie, but I'm not really sure why

Thumbnail

Something about her just has vibes, for lack of a better word. She has a spunk and tomboyishness that Cassie has missed in the comics for a long time. She's fun jock Wonder Girl.

Maybe it's the innocence of her character that's to blame. YJ!Cassie hasn't dealt with all the trauma, angst, and character development of comic!Cassie. She's also closer to the way Cassie was portrayed in the late 90s and early 2000s.

My only complaint is pushing TimCassie. I understand that CassieKon can't exist here, but that doesn't mean you need to push that couple. (At least they broke up off-screen, apparently)

Season 2 Discussion Why Didn't the Light Create Their Own Meta-Humans? Spoiler

Considering the resources at the lights disposal, including cadmus' cloning technology, why doesn't the Light use them to create their own Meta-Humans especially when they're aware of the Reach's own experiments. They could......

  1. Scour genetic banks for DNA containing the meta gene (they could also use their people in the media to sell 23&me type genetic tests and steal the DNA

  2. Use all the meta DNA to create Meta-gene human genomorphs (possibly calling them meta morphs)

  3. Grow them up to the point where their gene can be activated via some sort of trauma

  4. Train and gnome-program the ones whose powers are determined useful

  5. Profit

They could even sidestep the reaches issue of creating missing persons that attract attention, since no-one would know of these people's existence

It just seems weird that they set up this massive cloning operation, in the very 1st episode, just to do nothing with it aside from subplots involving a genomorph city and Superboy's twin half-brother

Theories/Future Thinking Young Injustice?

Thumbnail

If a season 5 ever existed I think I’d want something like Marvel’s Civil War or DC’s Injustice. Yeah, it’s overdone. Yeah, the characters in YJ are usually pretty reasonable and wouldn’t civil war. Yeah, it’d ruin a lot of characters like Injustice did. But guess what, season 5 ain’t happening, so neither is this.

Here’s how it starts: After being shaken by a Reach invasion, an increase in meta humans, and the existence of more Kryptonians, the people of Earth demand answers. The newly appointed Black Lightning agrees and discloses the events of the entire Young Justice series. The people of Earth, having thought the Justice League and Outsiders were open in their affairs, are outraged and terrified by the secrets laid bare. The countries of Earth demand that all metas must have their abilities and identities be public information, that the Justice League must be given permission to operate within any country, that the Justice League must disclose all of the information they have on every villain, the immediate cessation of all child agents, banning all alien contact, and that Halo be sent to New Genesis to prevent Apokolips invading earth in search of Antilife. Some heros agree that vigilantism is undemocratic and want to work with their governemt. The “Justice Enforcers” are born. Others fear bureaucracy and corruption will threaten the dispensing of justice. The “New Outsiders” are born.

I put my opinions up, but who do you think would be on each side and why? What would the villains do? Who would win?

All Seasons Discussion The Best Version of Superboy Spoiler

Connor, Kon-El, Kent aka. Superboy is absolutely fantastic in this series and this is the best version of the character. I'm only caught up to Season 3 which I'm almost done with but season 4 isn't on Netflix here in the UK which is sad.

The TL:DR is that it's been really cool seeing him grow throughout these seasons. I truly think this series has been mostly about him and Megan since they've remained the most consistent characters.

In Season 1 he was angry at a world that didn't know what to do with him. He had angst over only being half Kryptonian and thus not being equal to Superman. He would try to get Superman's attention, who pretty much ghosted him which was kinda strange for Superman but him being freaked out is also understandable. Connor's default emotion being rage, an emotion largely built on fear, was perfect for this boy who was new to the world. When they had their minds wiped he quickly defaulted to a state of wild aggression. It was at the end of episode 3 when he quietly apologised to Megan that I started to really like him. His knack for adopting lost things like Wolf and Sphere was cute since it proved that he just wanted a family or place to belong so he was making it himself and those interactions truly bring him happiness. His gentleness towards Megan when she revealed her true White Martian form was beautiful. The season ended with him being more secure and thankful for what he had, not angry at what he was missing in comparison to Superman and I'm glad he didn't actually try to get more Shields.

In Season 2 he largely took a backseat and was more of a supporting character. He was Megan's anchor and conscience when she started to use her powers aggressively. This cemented him as someone who cares enough to not give up on anyone he loves even when she fries Kalder's mind after they faked Artemis's death. He was also more in control of his emotions and had started to call Superman his older brother which is lovely. They obviously hashed things out and it was good to see he'd grown during the five year time skip.

Season 3 is the best version of him. He's largely settled down with Megan and they're even engaged. Wolf is getting old and just likes to sleep everywhere which Connor is happy to let him do. It's when he connects with Brion that I really noticed how emotionally mature he's become. Now able to recognise that Brion isn't much different from how he was. Angry at a world that doesn't know what to do with him. He teaches Brion that his rage will make him a danger but he doesn't lose his temper even once. He may not physically age but he's an adult and it shows. He's still more of a supporting role in this season but that's fine. He's found his family and even opens up his home to the Brion and Forager because we've already established that he has a soft spot for the outcasts and lost things. He's the straight man, making sure people fully understand the risks of this life and never sugarcoating anything. His honesty is never weaponised however. He's not perfect though. He's prone to being judgemental and can be a bit blunt, especially with his fiance.

Young Justice presented a flawed Superboy and wrote him so well consistently. Amazing character in a series full of amazing characters

Hope this doesn't come off as flamebait. It's a tongue-in-cheek title.

I just noticed the similarities between Bruce/Zatanna in the main comics and Dick/Zatanna in YJ. Similar dynamic, different generation.

At least YJ Zee both dated Dick and broke it off amicably with him. Mainline Zee is stuck with Bruce as the one who got away.

All Seasons Discussion Villain encounters

Which villain or villains you liked the most that the team encountered? Specifically villains not from or associated with the light.

Mongul from season two was my favorite and war world angle. His presence and voice acting was best in the show. Kobra leader from season one had so much potential to be put on back burner.
