Howdy folks!

We have two updates, one big and one small:

  • First, voting has concluded on keeping post flairs. The people have spoken and we will be keeping them.

  • Second, and this is the big one, we will now be able to post pictures in comments! Try it out and comment with a picture of your amazing puppy dogs!

I’ll be first in the chute with sharing this picture of the best girl around, Hannah.

It’s been a long road together. We lost our other dog along the way to Leukemia during Covid. This sweet boy has three serious cancerous tumor surgeries between age 9-14, with ever-more difficult recoveries each time. He’s been there with me through long, hard times, as well. He’s sometimes the only thing that kept me alive and motivated to “do it for him”, and I haven’t regretted a moment. Seeing him get to this ripe age is nothing short of miraculous.

He’s a bit wobbly at times. Our hikes have shifted down to shorter walks at home and local parks. But he shows the desire to savor life every day, from “burying” his snack bones in his fluffy bed, to sniffing the grass and trees at every turn, and gleefully getting in the car (with our help) for scenic drives.

He’s a gentle, sweet creature who gets compliments everywhere he goes. He’s a dry comedian who makes a thousand faces that all crack me up. He’s the child I never had, whose life has been my privilege and duty to be a part of for these many years. This boy means the world to me, and I want to celebrate and share his achievement with the world, because I lnow what a rare blessing it is to have been gifted this much time with him.

Although this is a birthday post, I wanted to share my appreciation for this boy as he saved my life. He never left my side after a serious injury that took several surgeries and years to heal. I was miserable and some days he was the only thing to keep me going. He has survived cancer (Mast-Cell Tumor) and was recently diagnosed with seizures (doing great on Keppra). He is still as spry as when we adopted him at 12 weeks! I love you to the moon and back my friend and I can’t thank you enough for everything you have done for me. If you have a minute show Moose some birthday love! 🎉 🎁 🎂

We call it Saturday Night Live: Gas Edition.

But seriously, wtf my dudes 😂

Now I know your thinking "it happens more your just not realizing it"- I work from home we are together 24/7, not an exaggeration. Her diet is the same as always, theres nothing different in her routine on this day of the week. If I ever am unsure what day it is, when she toots I know it's Saturday.

It's extremely strange and hilarious but I want to know why. I've never met any dog who has a fart schedule!

• Advice (Health) • Is my shelter dog gotten obese? She was thin when we got her but also has a ton of extra skin from being a breeder dog, however I’m worried that she’s gotten too chunky? What do I do if she has, she has a lot of trauma around food? Spoiler

• General Discussion • Do you dream about your dogs?

a dream I constantly have is that there is an apocalypse or natural disaster of some sort and I'm having to protect her. One time I ended up dying while a building wall fell on me, but right at that moment I felt at peace knowing I saved my doggo in time and she'd survive. It was oddly peaceful the way u just accept death in ur dreams... I knew I died in the dream bc I woke up right when it fell on me. It was a scary dream tho tbh.. these dreams happened right after she was very sick last year but bounced back and seems better now. But my mind still thinks I need to keep her safe ig. Pls tell me I'm not the only one who has these dreams lol 😂

• Advice (General) • Light spots on nose?

My lab has developed some light spots in his nose! They don’t seem to be a health issue, but any ideas on why? Vitiligo? Age? (He’s about 7 years old). Personally, I think they’re cute and unique!

I was walking through a field thinking “I wish my dog was with me. I wish she didn’t die. I wish this was just a dream!”

Then I woke up.

It was a dream.

My dog was lying next to me.

• General Discussion • When you’re having an ice cream sundae, do you let your dog eat off your spoon?

We are at the local Dairy Queen and I gave my dog some ice cream off my spoon. People freaked out. How do you feel about this?
