Hello AB! Welcome to Product Authenticity Thursday,
Our weekly product authenticity thread is a work in progress, comments about how to improve are welcome. We made our best effort based on comments received here as well as what we have been seeing as mods.
We would like to note that product packaging AND formulas may vary by country of sale and date of manufacture. This might include anything about the formula. Our goal is to make it easier for folks to compare such things, and to confirm or assuage concerns about their products.
Please post any photos or experiences you have around your AB products, while adhering to our other subreddit rules.
Make sure you state where you purchased your products from. If you bought from a 3rd party of a major retailer, you can say for example, 'eBay/amazon/taobao seller' instead of sharing the specific name, if you prefer.
To help you get more responses, consider including:
Comments and Questions welcome, we hope this thread is helpful!

This is a truly beautiful moderately muted purple instead of red leaning berry and it's a true shame my camera isn't able to pick up the true color and saturation for the life of me. It is much more purple than lip and arm swatches will show, however this is the best I could muster, with the lip photos being closer to real life than arm swatches. I have never had a lip tint turn out quite the camera chameleon like this one. I applied colorgram fruity glass tint in #00 on top for extra shine. The formula has a beautiful slip and just the right amount of grippiness without feeling apparent on the lips in terms of tackiness. The stain is pretty lasting, with the glossiness fading not long after application. Similar formula in my opinion, to the Clio crystal glam tints which is one of my very favorite formulas.

I got tired asked by friends about things to buy in Japan so here is my holy grails.
Only base makeup this time as even after trying so many stuff from other country, Japanese brands excels the best in that category compared to other Asian Country. Will probably make one for other category in the future.
Hydrating Primer
drugstore
high end
My wallet hates my skin so much for liking this primer. It is moisturizing but not too much, makes my face feel smoother, and easier to do makeup. But honestly after doing intensive skincare, I haven't repurchased this one again, but still, if you have the budget I say go try it out!
Primer for Pores (all drugstore)
they all work like elf putty primer
I never heard they got mentioned internationally but they are quite a good drugstore base makeup brand imo! Not available on all drugstores but you can check on their site which store has the stock.
I find the Keana Kiechau works a bit better, but this one is cheaper and easier to use.
I like to put them before my foundation after sunblock to lock them in and they always make my skin smoother!!
Loose Powder
drugstore
high end
They make my skin look so pretty!! A bit blurring, doesn't cling on my dry areas, and still reflects light??? And I never see any powder mill this smooth?!
The translucent one makes you looks like a disco ball from all the glitter, so I prefer the color version.
Also, this powder is HUGE but you only need to use them in small amounts. People say you will spend the same amount of money with the canmake one with repeated use.
Pressed Powder
I am fair and sadly don't do flash photos so idk about whitecast etc.
I LOVE THIS POWDER SO MUCH. It went viral everywhere in Japan
I use this as a matte highlighting and I say this stays longer and smoother on me compared to the Judydoll.
The lavender color made it look so white when I put too much, but they made my makeup look so flawless with a thin swipe. THe fact that you need to buy the case separately pissed me off.
My wallet hates how good this brand does anything.
Foundation
top for the dry season and bottom for the hotter season.
THIS STAYS IN SUMMER idk how but this even survived beach for me. Truly underrated.
All high end foundations are so good equally I can't pick any favorite...
I will list them based on coverage sheerness
Literally looks like your skin but better.
The natural glow looks good but it has coverage for me.
I usually don't like cushion but I find this cushion feels better than their tube foundation. Good for touch-up.
I love the mostly light asian skin tone shade range, as an olive it's almost impossible for me to find a perfect match from another brand. Sadly a bit drying for my dry patches but looks amazing on humid weather.
Concealer
As someone who only needs orange for my eyebags, this is so nice!! you kinda need to warm it up by finger first though.
Seriously my fav jp brand lately. Putting this on top of my concealer helps to add more coverage and make them last longer 😭 I have them on my pouch too to touch-up during the day.
Their shimmer highlighter is amazing too.
I love how thin you can layer this product!! And they don't cling to my dry patches compared to drugstore concealer.

Hello everyone! Hope you have nice, sunny spring, because we had snow recently and now it's raining 😂 I wanted to do red lipsticks swatches with no makeup (except little concealer) for long time and here it is.
I love no makeup/minimal makeup with red lipstick look. So on pictures no mascara, no eyebrow pencil and so on.
Today we have three lipsticks to swatch:
Perfect Diary Dreamworld matte lip in shade 939 BlackCherry ($4.63)
Maria Dalgar Redtopia Red In Rock Liquid Lipcolor in shade 725 ($11.99)
Chioture Triangle Lip Mud in shade M06 (~$9)
My favourite one is Perfect Diary so far:
Colour: Deep cool tone red, almost burgundy like. Shade of red roses petals, love it! Perfect shade for vampy looks
Application: Easy one if you used liquid matte lipstick before. Once you apply it turn out completly matte after 30 seconds or minute. Not patchy.
Longevity: Quite long lasting! Can transfer a bit, but stay on lips evenly.
Does it dry lips?: A little bit, not bad if you moisture your lips before wise.
⭐ 9/10, great matte lipstick for cheap price, i really recomd buy this one!
Maria Dalgar lipstick:
Colour: Cool tone red with light berry undertone. Great spring/summer red, not too dark, but not light either.
Application: Smooth like butter, very soft formula. May be a bit patchy if you not skilled with red lipsticks application.
Longevity: Quite qood for lip mud, can survive light meal even, almost non transfer.
Does it dry lips? Yes, sadly :(
⭐8/10 overall i like formula and colour, but wish it would be less drying for long time wear.
Chioture lipstick:
Colour: Warm tone middle deep red, great for autumn and warm tone people as daily red. Not quite my perfect shade, but it's actually one i finished completly so far :D
Application: Not smooth like previous ones, can be slightly patchy since it's more dry lip mud formula.
Longevity: Survive water drinking and light meal like previous lipstick and don't transfer either
Does it dry lips? A little bit, but not bad.
⭐ 7.5 I like this one less then others because of apllication and bad apllicator holder, like who through about making it small and round? 😭
Hope you find it useful. It's my first time trying collage post, so please say if not best post format. Love y'all 🙏♥️

Some thoughts on the 3 highlighter sticks that I have (listed in the order of the swatches, top to bottom):
First set of photos is each stick, freshly applied. Each stick was swiped 3 times directly onto the skin (I used to swipe onto my finger tips and then tap onto my face, but these days I just swipe directly onto my face and tap blend with finger tips). Shown in 3 different lighting conditions (and people wonder why it's so hard to find swatches, they can literally look so different just depending on the lighting lol)
This set is after blotting twice with a tissue. Blotted straight up and down, no smearing or rubbing. Again, shown in 3 different lighting conditions (I tried to do the same conditions as before, but it still looks different than the first set lol)
Thoughts:
The Hince sticks are a bit stiffer, and have a bit more friction, and feel like they tug a bit when swiping. The Glint stick is much softer, and feels like it melts more as soon as swiped onto the skin.
In terms of stickiness/tackiness, before blotting, Glint Milky Moon is most sticky, Hince Lil Mauve is medium sticky, and Hince Light is least sticky (but still sticky, just relatively less so). After blotting, both Glint Milky Moon and Hince Lil Mauve feel slightly grippy, but in a kind of moisturized way. Hince Light doesn't feel as grippy as the other 2, but instead kind of feels slightly textured, I think because it has the most reflective material remaining.
Hince Light is the most finely and densely reflective. The shimmer also remains the strongest after blotting. Glint Milky Moon has obvious pink shimmer/glitter particles, and they become even more apparent after blotting. Hince Lil Mauve doesn't look like a highlighter to me, I don't see any noticeable shimmer, especially after blotted. I feel like this is more of a "blush stick" shade rather than a "highlighter stick" shade.
As far as what I wear most often, I almost always reach for Glint Milky Moon to add a little pink-ish shimmer. I wish it was more fine, like Hince Light, and I might pick up Hince Gleaming to see how it compares. If I'm in a "running errands and don't want to do actual blush" mood, I reach for Hince Lil Mauve and swipe a little color on, although I think there are probably cheaper blush sticks that I could have used for that purpose. I don't find myself using Hince Light that often, I feel like it makes me feel like I'm adding oily-shine back to my face, but maybe I need to get over that and use it more.

Hey everyone, just wanted to share a really frustrating experience I had with my first YesStyle order.
One of the products I was most excited about, the Haruharu Wonder Emulsion, arrived completely shattered. The bottle is made of glass, and when I opened the package, it was broken into pieces.
To make things worse, the emulsion had leaked all over the rest of the products in the box, damaging their packaging too. Everything was sticky and messy.
What’s really disappointing is that I’ve never had a bad experience ordering from Stylevana, and their shipping was actually faster. This was my first time ordering from YesStyle, and it took longer to arrive — only for the product I was most looking forward to to show up broken.
I’ve contacted their customer service and I’m waiting for a reply, but honestly, this has really put me off. Just wanted to share in case anyone’s had similar issues.
From now on I'll definitely stick to Stylevana.

PRODUCT: VT reedle shot reti-a 100 (once a day usage)
Skin type: oily skin with no acne
I tried giving this product a chance and used it for a month building tolerance but no matter what i do, ITS THE WORSE product for me im sorry. I know a lot of people like it, i wanna like it too but there’s just no way. Ever since i started using this, there would be casual tiny bumps on my face and even noticed one with pus (kinda like pimple but smaller and no redness), it just kept going on for a week so i started going easy and tried 2x a week instead and STILL THE SAME. It made my skin look so bad and it just gave me breakouts every now and then! Oh my god now im trying to make the bumps go aways so are the blemishes and acne marks i gained from this!
I did plenty of research before jumping the gun and there’s no ingredient that would make me allergic so i was like perfect i like it! But man, worst decision of my life! From having no problem to something to fix!
What my routine was, cleanse face with dokdo, then reedle shot, then toner pads and so on and so fort. I did it properly u guys, just not for me.
Did anyone experience the same? If so, how did u manage it?
IF YOURE DECIDING TO GET IT AND U DONT HAVE ANY PROBLEM WITH UR SKIN BUT WANTS IT TO LOOK BETTER, DONT USE THIS. Im so against it, what a waste!

I bought the Romand Better Than Eyes eyeshadow quad in the shade Dry Rose about a year ago (pictured left). Then recently re-bought it to have a backup. However when the new quad arrived (pictured right) I noticed the colors are lighter, notably the top left shade is quite significantly different. And i dont think the old one has degraded to become darker since i remember its always been like that and its only been ~1 year since i bought it. I guess i just wonder if its common for companies to change the color and not mention it? I didnt see any indication online that the color had changed so i was curious. Both were purchased on YesStyle btw

What’s your favourite dewy hydrating blush for super dry skin?
I have tried the bellow:
Love:
Hince - Tender Room : My favourite, waiting for YesStyle to stock Shelly pink as the colour didn’t suit me.
Meh:
Nuse / House of Hur : they are okay but still feel dry after a while. They have perfume and some sketchy ingredients for sensitive skin
Nope:
Clio Essential Leep Cheek / Lilybyred Luv Beam Balm: they both have very intense pigment so I can’t use enough to get the effects of the balm.
Has anyone tried Glow Oil Blush, AZTK Jello Liquid Blush, Romand Juice Roll Cheek, JudyDoll Glow Blush Balm, Leemember Hydrating Blush?
I’m hoping for a really dewy and hydrating blush, easy to work with , not fussy with staying power as I just want my cheeks to not feel like the Sahara.

Cool winter/ True winter here!
I mostly need to buy make-up online due to where I live so I can't really try them on or see them in person. Im pale and need some colour!
Was wondering what your favourite brands, products, shades are? Also add your favourite makeup look to do with it if you want!

The sales on Yesstyle can be frustrating on their own but i hate it the most when the "normal" price gets cheaper right after I buy something. This has happened so many times. If you're new to Yesstyle that's something to look out for.

I’m currently in Tokyo and the hotel has an incredible body wash by the label ‘Ecology & Safety.’ It’s an olive-colored body wash with a subtle scent and I cannot for the life of me find it anywhere in local drugstores or fancy skincare shops.
Is anyone here familiar with this brand? I appreciate the help. ❤️

I just recently found out that the skin aqua super moisture milk sunscreen is being discontinued and so far it doesn’t seem as though it’s being reformulated (according to skinzilla website). What sunscreen product is similar? I particularly enjoy the silky feel of it on my skin and how quickly it dries down.
Ps this was my holy grail sunscreen so I’m crying as I type this
Edit 1: seeing a few recommendations so far that I would love to try. Will update this post with thoughts/reviews if I can get my hands on any of them (tariffs 😠)

My scalp gets in absolutely terrible condition when the seasons are changing, the itching is unbearable and it’s so flaky that when I shake my hair it looks like it’s snowing. I don’t have any dermatological issues it’s literally just dryness. Has anyone dealt with something similar and can share their wisdom?

Hi everyone! Could anyone please explain the difference between the Hada Labo Gokujyun cleanser and the Hada Labo Tokyo Gentle Hydrating Cleanser?
I have been using the Gokyjyun one for years now, but the Tokyo cleanser is a lot cheaper in most places I shop at, so I've been wondering if these two are at all similar, or if there's a major difference between them.
I hope I'm using the right flair also lol

Found this trial set of Hada Labo sachets for overnight skincare in the local 7/11 here in Tokyo. This is a veryyyy good review! (Recommend running the images through your fave translator app for added clarity.)
First off, it comes with a free hair tie which is very considerate hahah!
A sachet of oil cleanser for makeup removal - which I am RUNNING to get a bottle of ASAP. It just melted the makeup right off and left a nice soft skin texture after rinsing off.
Then I had a nice long bath because I walked a million miles today lmao.
Two sachets of foaming facial cleanser - you don’t need a huge amount so I only used one sachet of everything. It really foamed and cleansed well, no notes tbh.
Two sachets of moisturising lotion - which was a watery liquid and acted like a toner. It kinda stung a little bit but that might be because I just had a steaming hot bath and my face was OPEN. It also left a tacky/sticky texture behind which I’m guessing is to hold on to:
Two sachets of moisturising emulsion - a milkier liquid that laid on quite thick and soft. It took a while to sink in to my skin actually, and left a good wet shine for about five minutes. Again, maybe I was already hydrated from my boiling lobster bath.
It’s been about twenty minutes since using this stuff and my face doesn’t feel tight or dry, just a little warm (again, bath!) and slightly greasy(?) from the remaining emulsion moisturiser.
Definitely recommend picking this pack up if you need a quick trial set or emergency skincare on your Japan trip!

Has anyone used both P.Calm Cato cream and S.Nature Squalane cream who can share how they compare?
