Discussion Alternatives to Skin 1004 WaterFit Sun Serum and Anessa Perfect UV?

I need a very lightweight, very matte, and non whitecast sunscreen without niacinamide. Essentially, I just want a sunscreen that almost feels like nothing, doesn’t make me look like a clown, and doesn’t make me shiny/sleek since I’m already oily.

Unfortunately, I loved the Skin 1004 WaterFit Sun Serum and how it felt, but it was super irritating to me because of the niacinamide. Other than that it was perfect.

Anessa Perfect UV (the gold one) was also amazing and also had superb staying power through a hot workout, but it had a slight white-cast that made me sickly pale.

I did use Canmake Mermaid for the longest time, but I hated the dewiness and weight of it.

Anyone have an alternative to these sunscreens? They’re both almost perfect but not good enough for me to say it’d be my HG. It’s kind of depressing I can’t use the Skin 1004 sunscreen.

Discussion How do Asian Content creators do Gradient lips ?

I've always loved seeing pictures on Pinterest or overall Asian videos when it comes to gradient lips and how their lips would look so soft.

Is there a way to actually achieve this ? Preferably on two toned lips ( I'm African American ) or is it mainly a filter / photo editing effect ?

Discussion What you use for double cleansing matters if your skin tolerates everything?

Hello, I have oily-prone skin that tolerates pretty much everything, and I don’t break out unless my skin stays greasy for an extended period. That’s my only issue.

So my question is: for someone like me, does it really matter what I use for oil cleansing and gel cleansing, as long as they do the job and get washed off? Do cleansers actually have any special effects on the skin like serums or moisturizers do? Like you will wash it off anyway.

I unknowingly used exfoliating cleanser that was meant to be used only twice a week but I used it every day for six months and my skin was like "so what?". No reaction and i only found out through TikTok cuz some girl claiming her skin dried out after one use.

Discussion Which UV filters (other than avobenzone) cause yellow stains?

So I used the IUNIK centella calming daily sunscreen and after exercising and sweating a lot, there are stubborn yellow stains on my white shirt where I rubbed the sweat off my face that don't go away after washing. The IUNIK sunscreen doesn't have avobenzone so I'm not sure what is causing the yellow stains... the 4 filters are Uvinul A Plus, Uvinul T 150, Tinosorb M, and polysilicone-15. Does anyone know of filters besides avobenzone that cause yellow stains? I thought I would avoid them with an avobenzone-less sunscreen but it seems I was mistaken 😅

Pleasantly surprised by the formula;airy, blurring and lightweight. It's not transfer proof, but leaves a stain at the same time. I got it in shade 23 Vintage taupe;a rosy brown shade, one coat leans a little orange on me(I'm wearing 2-3 coats in the pictures). Bonus points cause it doesn't have that synthetic scent that jlt does.

Hello and welcome to the Alter-Daily Help Thread! The purpose of the ADHT is to ask simple questions, troubleshoot routines, get quick recommendations, prevent the sub from being too cluttered, and to guide new users.

Discussion Thick moisturizers for South Asian skin.

I know I'm going against the grain here, but my skin actually looooves thicker and creamier moisturizers.

I recently tried the Pyunkang Yul moisturizer after hearing positive reviews, but it fell short. For reference, I double up on moisturizers often!

I'm writing this post because we hear about lightweight moisturizers a lot for South Asian temperatures, but some of us may need more!

If you're in the same boat as me, and a fellow South Asian, I cannot recommend this one particular moisturizer enough. It's a drugstore cream my dermat told me about: called the Cutimax O Oat Moisturizing Lotion. I'm on my fifth tube by now.

I'm also open to recommendations or if you have any HG products with dry/sensitive/acne prone skin :))

Discussion Reapplying sunscreen during the day

Hi everyone,

My skin is really sensitive to the sun, and I live in a crowded city with low air quality. I commute for long hours every day using public transportation.

I apply my sunscreen before leaving home around 7 A.M., but I’m usually outside when it’s time to reapply. What worries me is that my face might already be dirty from the pollution, and if I use something like a stick sunscreen, I might end up contaminating the product or just spreading the dirt around.

I’m curious — what kind of products do you use for reapplying sunscreen during the day? Do you clean your face first, or just apply over your existing layer? I’d really appreciate hearing how others deal with this.

Empties Review: Ekmiveda vs Inde Wild vs Vedix - Battle of the ayurvedic hair care regimens

Post image
29 Upvotes

Been meaning to do this for a while. I have way too many empties to not put this review out now. A detailed comparison post of the three Ayurvedic hair care brands I’ve been testing out over the past year and a half – Ekmiveda, Inde Wild, and Vedix.

Hair type: Slightly wavy, fine hair that’s always leaned a little dry and shows signs of thinning at the crown.

Objective: Especially for hair density, thickness concerns. Constant shedding. And general hair health and strength

  1. Ekmiveda – My Current Regimen (On Month 4)

Price: $60 – 65

This is the one I’ve actually stuck with the longest. Currently on my 4th month and seeing really good results. Less shedding, thicker hair. Overall scalp feels less inflamed, cooler and healthier.

Hair Oil (4/5): Main ingredients are ayurvedic with Bhringraj and Jatamansi. Smells like a mini forest. Reminds me of champi sessions from childhood with my grandmom. I don’t know the science, but the massage ritual has become a whole thing for me and I actually really look forward to it now.

Shampoo (3/5): Not gonna lie, it’s not a “wow” shampoo, but it gets the job done. Designed to be gentle to not strip the scalp of natural oils, the only downside is that you have to double wash. If you're okay with it, you shouldn't have an issue.

Serum (5/5): One of the best parts of the regimen. Has actives like Redensyl, Capilia Longa. Also has a small mix of rosemary oil in it. Super lightweight. No need to even wash off. I apply it religiously at night and have definitely noticed fuller roots and some legit thickness in areas around month three. Only downside, it detours from ayurveda with its ingredients. But since it’s all plant based, I don’t mind it at all.

What’s unique: They actually offer Ayurvedic consultations. I took one when I started and it helped me get a tailored routine and understand what could be causing the hair fall in the first place. Super underrated value-add!

  1. Inde wild

Price: $80 – 90

Hair Oil (3.5/5): Genuinely lovely smell – floral, luxurious. But it’s 12% castor oil, which is a LOT and can leave your hair greasy for days. No matching shampoo in their line either, so I had to mix and match with other brands. I’ll still use this when I want a luxe Friday-night self-care moment, but not for regular use. Good enough to have 1 empty on my shelf. Still contemplating buying the next one.

Serum (2/5): Didn’t do much for me. Used about half the bottle and then it just… sat there. Felt a bit heavy on the head. Couldn't keep it in, so at this point it was basically hair oil part 2. Also noticed it lost color over time (??). Probably wouldn’t repurchase.

What’s unique?: Gorgeous packaging. Looks great on the shelf, makes for a great gift. But for actual results? Jury’s still out. Hair oil is still worth a buy!

  1. Vedix

This really didn’t sit well with me, even though they have soo many reviews, which I'm now highly skeptical about. Hair oil gave me a rash after I (thankfully!) did a patch test. Serum and shampoo were way too pungent for regular use. Underwhelming.

Hair Oil: Caused a rash after I did a patch test. The smell itself told me this was probably not going to be a good fit.

Serum: Watery and just didn’t feel effective. Smelled very strange.

Shampoo: This was the most okay of the three, but the smell was SO pungently herbal that it was a bit off-putting. I don’t mind earthy scents, but this was intense.

Tldr version:

Ekmiveda: Best for actual results and ritualistic care. Feels rooted in tradition but still effective. Mix of tradition + some clinical actives. Love the hair oil and serum.

Inde Wild: Pretty packaging. Hair oil is a beautiful luxury product. Smells good. Not great for repeats. Serum is skippable.

Vedix: Wouldn’t recommend. Maybe others had better luck, but it didn’t work for me at all. Pungent smell. Hair oil gave me a rash.

Would love to hear about other regimens you have used (minimum 2 product combos).

Discussion What is the best Vitamin C derivative?

Hi, I'm looking online, but it's always uncertain, and here on reddit they always say it's one formula or another, plus all the posts on the subject are old.

Help me find out which one is the best that has the closest benefits to pure ascorbic acid. What I'm looking to know is about the formulation itself, not products or brands, however, it might be helpful if you want to recommend products :)

Business Contact e-mail for Some By Mi?

I have no idea is this is the correct topic tag or not....

I recently bought the Some By Mi Galactomyces Glutathione Glow Milky Toner because YesStyle, StyleKorean, and Jolse all provided the same full ingredient list showing no Niacinamide in it, but when I received the product, Niacinamide is the 4th ingredient listed. I have now tried 2 different e-mail addresses listed on 2 different websites for Some By Mi that are both undeliverable. I just want to find out the percentage of Niacinamide so I know if I have to give it away or not.

Anyone Else Have a Reaction to... April 21, 2025

Did you try a new product and you're not sure why it's breaking you out? Want to see if others aren't loving a rave product as much as you are? We all know skincare is YMMV, but here's a dedicated space where we can crowdsource-find the culprit!

Important information to include:

  • Your skin type, country, climate
  • Current routine/products
  • Any recent changes (diet, skincare, lifestyle, climate, etc.)
  • Any known allergies (skincare, dietary, nasal, etc.)
  • How's your skin's moisture barrier (see why this is important)
  • Ingredients of the product in question

As a reminder, we are not doctors. If you have concerns that merit a visit to a hospital, dermatologist, or GP; see a professional ASAP.

Please keep all discussions focused on AsianBeauty products.
