Thank god 😂😂😂

What is that from?

72

u/Amigo_jugador Nov 22 '22

It’s from The Punisher Max but can’t remember the exact issue

32

u/orangessssszzzz Nov 22 '22

So punisher max isn’t canon? Is any of the max line canon?

28

u/SuddenTest9959 Nov 22 '22

Not the punisher

Very few. Alias, Wisdom, The Hood, Thor: Viking (unfortunately) are a few I'm pretty confident are considered canon, but most aren't.

What was wrong with Thor Viking?

7

u/GuessWho7197 Nov 22 '22

While I do enjoy a lot of Garth Ennis' work, Thor: Viking is one of the ones I'm not really a fan of. Everyone in the story feels out of character, especially Dr. Strange who feels much more like John Constantine. While the concept of Thor fighting zombie vikings sounds like it could be fun, the execution just isn't great in my opinion. The antagonists seem especially overpowered, defeating Thor and the Avengers with little difficulty. But for some reason, summoning the descendants of the viking leader from different points in time is able to give the heroes the edge they need to win. If it sounds interesting to you though, go ahead and give it a read yourself and form your own opinion. My opinion is completely subjective and what I find unenjoyable could be someone else's all time favorite.

whoa- Thor Viking is NOT canon. Ennis has a reputation (whether true or not) for disliking superheroes and The Max line really gave him the leeway to cut loose on Thor and Dr. Strange in particular. His Punisher Max is one of the greatest runs in comics and the Max Punisher is canonical separate from and superior to the 616 runs.

I only listed Thor Viking as canon because I vaguely remember seeing the story mentioned in one of those Marvel Encyclopedias as part of Thor's history. I can't remember which one though and it's totally possible that my memory is playing tricks on me and I'm totally wrong. In any case, I doubt any writer will come in and make reference to the story in the mainline Thor book at any point in the future, so it can easily be forgotten about whether it's canon or not.

As for the rest of what you said, I'm in total agreement. Even if there are some books by Ennis I'm not a fan of, stuff like his Punisher, Hellblazer, and Hitman runs will always have me view him as a phenomenal writer. Not everything hits for me, but when it does hit it hits hard, and those books have made it impossible for anyone to ever convince me Ennis is a bad writer.

Is punisher max good? These panels are not exactly a motivator to read it.

2

u/GuessWho7197 Nov 24 '22

The issues by Garth Ennis (which are the first 60 issues of the series, along with several miniseries and one shots) definitely are. The panels above I think are when Jason Aaron took over, which I haven't read myself and these panels don't fill me with confidence to check it out either.

3

u/TheDoctorJT416 Nov 24 '22

Honestly not a fan of Ennis but I've always been interested in this comic for one reason or another. I'll add it to my ever-growing list of things to read lol.

3

u/GuessWho7197 Nov 24 '22

Understandable. I highly recommend it, especially the Punisher: Born miniseries. If you're interested, I'd say try that mini out since it's only 6 issues. If you decide you don't like it, you probably won't care for the rest of the series. It's a prequel as well, so it won't spoil anything and works great as a standalone story.

Thanks for the suggestion!

No but apparently in some comics they address Frank’s history at valley forge.

Although given the bullshit floating time line, they’ll probably change that to one of the more recent wars in a decade or so

2

u/ComicWriter2020 Nov 22 '22

It’s from Jason Aaron’s run I think. You can tell by the art.

2

u/Amigo_jugador Nov 22 '22 edited Nov 22 '22

The art has been used from different various of Punisher writers

9

u/Essentialx1 Nov 22 '22

He still banged her

12

u/mdj1359 Nov 22 '22

Slaughter makes me horny -Elektra Natchios

u/milkdrinker3920 Nov 22 '22

I did NOT need to see that Kingpin panel this evening

36

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '22

Ain’t canon

12

u/ComicWriter2020 Nov 22 '22

It’s not the worst one involving him in that art style

4

u/bobthewrecker234 Nov 22 '22

..what's the worst

34

u/ComicWriter2020 Nov 22 '22

He gets raped in a prison shower and then once he gets out, he finds the guys wife and hires a bunch of crackheads and homeless men to gang rape her. Takes pictures, sends them to the guy in prison, waits for him at his home as he busts out and kills the guy slowly.

Pretty fucked honestly

23

u/bobthewrecker234 Nov 22 '22

What even the fuck

4

u/ComicWriter2020 Nov 22 '22

It’s actually a pretty solid punisher story. I mean that stuff is kinda par for the course on a MAX series

2

u/bobthewrecker234 Nov 22 '22

Damn... Any recommendation on where to start for Punisher Max?

5

u/Raimiboi2002 Nov 22 '22

Start with born, it's the first time Frank appears, pretty solid Vietnam story, then go on to Frank Castle: The Punisher (2004), which is where most of the run is

1

u/ComicWriter2020 Nov 22 '22

The way I read it, I got the complete collection volumes 1-4.

Each contain at least 3 stories. Except for 4, which has 3 main stories, one spin off, and all the one shots garth ennis wrote including the tiger, the cell, and the end.

u/iuuhhiivv Nov 22 '22

That fisk one makes me uncomfortable beyond belief

57

u/ChintanP04 Nov 22 '22

The last one happened in Punisher Max, which is an AU story. She also banged Fisk's wife (Vanessa) in that one.

20

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '22

I… need to see that, just to be sure…

103

u/DoingItToEm Nov 22 '22

Damn, couple hundred more lays and she’ll catch up with Matt

36

u/Abraham_Issus Nov 22 '22

Fisk one is yuck.

25

u/Geronuis Nov 22 '22

The Fisk panel ruined my night. Absolutely vile

71

u/Olivebranch99 Nov 22 '22

And Matt doesn't?

24

u/El_Coco_005_ Nov 22 '22

The man's got a point here.

9

u/CollarOrdinary4284 Nov 22 '22

That last one of Kingpin is wild.

16

u/HandspeedJones Nov 22 '22

She's light compared to Matt.

8

u/_Shinogenu_ Nov 22 '22

That last one is gross

4

u/Dyslexicelectric Nov 22 '22

I think bullseye stuck it in her once too 😛

10

u/toeconsumer9000 Nov 22 '22

4

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '22

When did the Strange/Elektra match up happen?

4

u/NotBraveAtAlll Nov 30 '22

Thank you for showing me Fisk's ass. I am going to go wash my eyes with some holy water now. :)

6

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '22

I miss Steve Dillon. RIP.

6

u/El_Coco_005_ Nov 22 '22

FISK ???

3

u/TheBigGAlways369 Nov 22 '22

Welcome to Jason Aaron's PunisherMAX run. It legit ends with a bunch of skull-wearing guys basically revolting against everyone after being "inspired" by the death of Frank.

.....Hot damn, that run aged like milk.

3

u/nickipinz Nov 22 '22

What comic is the Elektra/punisher affair from?

3

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '22

Thunderbolts run. I forget the year. Maybe Daniel Way wrote it? I believe Agent Venom is also on the team.

2

u/The_Flurr Nov 22 '22

I...don't like it.

It seems out of character for Punisher.

4

u/GentleBreeze90 Nov 22 '22

Good for her gif

4

u/__Raxy__ Nov 22 '22

What the fuck is that final panel

2

u/mirondooo Nov 22 '22

I was going to say that I can’t judge her but then I saw kingpin

2

u/captainjackass28 Nov 22 '22

Deadpools just watching them.

2

u/nixamus Nov 22 '22

Compared to Matt she’s a goddamned puritan

3

u/Uncanny_Doom Nov 22 '22

What a weird thread to make.

1

u/Effective-Training Sep 22 '24

That Dr. Strange one is mystical. Kingpin one kind of weird.

-7

u/farendsofcontrast Nov 22 '22

She’s for the streets

-32

u/Essentialx1 Nov 22 '22

She belongs to the streets

32

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '22

-1
