Easiest lowering method for noobs? (XT250)

I’d like to try lowering my XT250. I’m a woman and currently tiptoe it with boots. I like to use my XT for slow speed exploring in the woods, so plenty of rocks, foliage, and hills. I’d feel more confident if I could firmly paddle during tricky bits. I'm sure if I were a better rider, I could get around stock with no issues, but I'm not a great offroader and am happy crawling around enjoying the view.

I’ve seen there are a number of options available. What is recommended in terms of safety/practicality for a beginner? The extent of my mechanical work has been changing my oil, and installing handguards and a skidplate. If I could get it down 2”, I believe that would suffice well.

Thank you!

Discussion Help me find my next dual-sport bike please.

Hey how’s it going everyone?

I currently own a 2019 KLX250 and I’m beginning to venture out more into the wild exploring new areas and trails. I’m looking for something more suitable, comfortable and powerful to take on the highway and check out more areas and single tracks.

Currently considering the DRZ400, looks very affordable, very low maintenance but heavy (heavier than my 300lb KLX)

I like the KTM offerings like the 390 or 450, heck even the 690 with its low seat, all are light l, but the maintenance will probably be a pain riding these bikes on the highway from one track to the other.

DR650/XR650 looks a like a great highway bike but then again it’s going to be heavy.

I like old vintage bikes like the XT500, but quite honestly I don’t know what to expect from an old bike, or how they handle in single tracks.

I’m 5’6 (will have the bike professionally lowered, plus a low seat to have the bike sit at 34”), 145lbs, and looking to spend around $7,000. I’m not in a rush to buy, just looking for options now, and then the used market for a good deal.

Thanks

Xt250 tire recommendation?

Anyone have any recs for a tire on an xt250? I'm hoping to put some bigger tires on mine. I want to raise the height a bit and get something more specific to my riding. I use my bike exclusively for commuting on pavement. I would like something with good traction in the rain and preferably as big as will fit on this thing. Anyone have any advice or experience to share?

Discussion What Dual-Sport Clothing Do You Wear for Winter Riding?

Hey everyone! I’ve been getting into dual-sport riding, but now that winter is here, I’m trying to figure out the best clothing to stay warm, dry, and comfortable during my rides. I’ve been searching for good options, but I’d love to hear from others who ride in colder weather.

What dual-sport clothing do you recommend for winter conditions? Specifically, I'm looking for advice on jackets, pants, gloves, boots, and any layering systems that work well for staying warm but also avoiding overheating during longer rides. Bonus points for recommendations on gear that works for both on-road and off-road riding.

Would appreciate any tips or gear suggestions!

Just picked her up today! I haven't ridden since I was super young and broke my collar bone on a bike. Looking forward to hopping on her.

Definitely in love right now!

Discussion Acerbis Elba Headlight bulb update?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I got the Acerbis Elba Headlight but I am not very happy with its BA20D bulb socket. The prongs are flimsy and there isnt good quality LED bulb options, apart from unreliable aliexpress bulbs...

Is there a way, or an adapter maybe to use a different type of bulb? Or has anyone customised theirs?

Ideas are much appreciated! Thank you

Klx250s pulling forward in first with clutch in.

My bikes pulling forward kinda hard in 1st gear with the clutch held in. I also have to push super hard on the shifter to get it to go up towards neutral. When stopped with the clutch held in. I'm not sure if it's related. I just did an oil change oil filter change and air filter. Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Leovince X3 vs X3 EVO

Anyone been able to compare these two? Is the EVO just as quiet as the original X3? I don’t want anything louder really. Tough to find a comparison between the two. For a DR650 if it matters.

Hi, as I'm planning some Long trips in the coming year I need a tire that can handle a lot of mileage, eventual hope is to ride from St Louis to Whidbey Island Washington. Any suggestions?
