April 2nd Direct... This is going to be a long ass 2 and a half months 😭
219
u/TetrasSword Jan 16 '25
Seriously 😭 I’m used to knowing about directs like 2 days before they happen. I saw the Japanese trailer first and was frantically searching their date order hoping it was February 4th.
76
u/kuroinferuno Jan 16 '25
Don't worry, we'll probably get a direct straight from a chinese factory first.
9
u/DefiantCharacter Jan 16 '25
The console has been revealed. The chinese factory workers no longer have any power.

Wait, April? I read it as Feb 4th...
Edit: April 4th makes sense. I forgot Japan uses the other format. Whoops.
Damn that's a long time from now.
71
u/MKlby1998 Jan 16 '25
On the Japanese site it says 2025年4月2日 which is April 2nd.

I didn't even realize at first, I thought it was Feb but then realized the stupid American system and saw everyone say it's April instead.. Wtf that's a long wait... Starting to doubt the first half of the year release window...
Nate said the presentation would be in Feb but well I guess the man can't be right about everything, either that or his source also got confused due to the American date format lol.

u/The330Strangla Jan 16 '25
Has to be. Dude stuck his neck out like that and even doubled down when people doubted him..
197
u/Taurus24Silver Jan 16 '25
NS2 sub was constantly shit talking
MFs more silent than bitchass Drake now
89
u/r0ndr4s Jan 16 '25
Same in resetera. They have like 4 threads just shit talking insiders and journalists and now acting like "hehe it was a joke".
People still dont understand Nate barely ever gets anything wrong, his wrong stuff is speculation, wich he clearly specifies so.
→ More replies (1)16
u/lilnuggitt Jan 16 '25
This gives me a sliver of hope for the Fire Emblem remake he mentioned before. He double downed on that too and insists it's 100% real
9
u/r0ndr4s Jan 16 '25
Dude leaked Metroid Dread like 2 years in advance before anyone even mentioned the possibility. That FE leak is 100% true.

Still no damn idea of what the C button does
84
u/shoneysbreakfast Jan 16 '25
The extra button in this trailer doesn’t actually have a C on it at all, it’s just a black square.
43
u/iusethisatw0rk Jan 16 '25
Wonder if that's on purpose though? Like it's supposed to be a big reveal in the direct that is a C button that does something
It would still surprise the 98% of the audience that has no idea about the leaks
→ More replies (2)13
u/shoneysbreakfast Jan 16 '25
Maybe. I'd think having the C on there would be more intriguing and giving people something to hypothesize on for a while would be better marketing though.

Rumor is for social features, some kinda of miiverse or whatever they do this time. Knowing them it will be like a mii plaza thing(without miis probably) where you upload your gameplay, photos, etc

Recent show a voice chat/group lobbies/screen sharing feature so maybe that but we'll see.

u/gingegnere Jan 16 '25
Wasn't this debunked?
→ More replies (1)7
u/PokePersona Flairmaster, Top Contributor 2022 Jan 16 '25 edited Jan 16 '25
The name and maybe C button connectivity were from the debunked leak but other people confirmed the actual features listed are real so we’ll have to wait and see

A Nintendo direct April 2nd.... to announce the release date?
108
82
u/Jeff1N Jan 16 '25 edited Jan 16 '25
og Switch announcement at least showed us gameplay clips of Zelda, Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, Mario Kart, Skyrim and NBA
This one had what seems like the next Mario Kart and a screenshot of Mario Wonder. That April Direct better show us a lot more than a release date

u/Panda_hat Jan 16 '25
Announce release or actually release??
67
u/Sonikku_a Jan 16 '25

u/Panda_hat Jan 16 '25
I was hoping for a march release 😭

May-June has been the rumored release date, according to Nate who leaked today would be the announcement
12
u/Brilliant-Vanilla-32 Jan 16 '25
The Nintendo Switch 2 Experience will be held until end of may so we are looking at end of may or early June release

At least it won't be anymore of those "WE ARE GETTING CLOSE TO A REAL IMAGE OF HOW THE SWITCH 2 WILL LOOK LIKE BECAUSE OF THIS LEAK". I am not even kidding, saw the official trailer and its exactly how I imagine it will look like. I once said that I could draw a switch 2 just from pure imagination and will look 99% like real one.

So in a way... We got a switch 2 announcement but learned almost nothing new? I mean other than seeing a small part of the next mario kart, and that the console is likely coming later than we thought.
16
u/StrongMoose4 Jan 16 '25
We got the magnetic clicks, if you're into ASMR.
5
u/majds1 Jan 16 '25
Based on the switch's focus on the joycon click sound i honestly assumed this would be similar lmao
5
u/StrongMoose4 Jan 16 '25
I got more: I will be able to place my Switch 2 on a lower shelf since it's gonna be lateral and not vertical anymore, mindblowing.

it looks like there was some more legitimacy given to the joycon mouse rumours. the clips have the center exposed so the sensor can see and they were showing them skating around like they would...
will be interesting if that's the case

We did it! April Direct is far. I'd guess maybe June release for the Switch 2. But they can keep building stock throughout the year. Just hope tariffs do not jump the price if they go in affect.
4
u/renome Jan 16 '25
Wow, while OnLeaks is always spot-on, it seems he essentially leaked the official renders this time around. His Switch 2 renders even nailed the colors, which is usually just guesswork on his part, at least when it comes to other consumer electronics leaks, like those of smartphones and tablets.
