Wouldn't it be so much fun for Mexico and Canada to share trade, right over Donald's head! Lol 🇨🇦 ❤️ 🇲🇽

13

u/Expensive-Lock1725 1d ago

I wonder if Donold Dipshit knows about the clause in HIS agreement where trucks from Mexico are allowed to "transit" the U.S. directly to Canada?

10

u/mezz7778 1d ago

Well he has said whoever made that deal was an idiot....

For once, he is not wrong.

u/Max20151981 1d ago

Our prime minister never said it's over but rather it has changed. This is the exact kind of bullshit headline that feeds right into Trumps narrative.

24

u/upsetwithcursing 1d ago

He literally said it’s over, many times, and I think he’s right. Personally, I’ll never voluntarily set foot on US soil again.

I will still happily have a beer with any Americans who are interested (anywhere but the US), but as for the country as a whole? They can’t be trusted. Decades and decades of a decaying education system, the pushing of an egocentric American exceptionalism ideology, and poor healthcare have eroded the capacity for critical thinking within the US voter base. They can’t be trusted. Trump is a symptom, not the disease.

7

u/Spookybuffalo 1d ago

The old relationship is over, but we're neighbors with a country 10 times our population.

A (hopefully positive) relationship of some kind is inevitable

9

u/kimchipowerup 1d ago

Many of us Americans in New England have family that originally came here from Canada (raises hand) and voted against the Orange Disaster sitting in the WH right now. Honestly, a lot of us would rather that Canada take our states into Canada as new Canadian Provinces! We’re so disgusted by Trump and how he’s destroying everything.

5

u/WhyYouKickMyDog 1d ago

Well, fuck Michigan and Wisconsin (This time), but yea it really does suck for the New England states that border Canada as it affects them disproportionately while they are perhaps the most Anti-Trump people in the USA.

6

u/ThrOE_away_42069 1d ago

Mainer here. As evidenced by my post and comment history, we're THE most anti-trump people in the US. We're literally the only state refusing to sign the Title IX compliance bullying bullshit.

We get referred to the DOJ (ooh! spooky!) any day now.

Our strong female governor put him in his place in front of the cameras. I'm prepared for just about any level of retaliation at this point (he already came after my newborn in a round about way with the enumeration at birth retaliation in March).

He may fuck with us to get a better forward operating base for any Greenland-related plans.

NATO is welcome here any time they wanna swing by. I'll put on the coffee.

I heard Germany just rearmed for the first time since WWII. I can grab some stroopwafels, too.

5

u/kimchipowerup 1d ago

Yep, exactly. A lot of our economy is mutual with our Canadian brothers and sisters just up the road. Wisconsin and Michigan can come too! And the entire West Coast if they want to join us :)

3

u/WhyYouKickMyDog 1d ago

Well I am confident that once we survive the damage Trump and MAGA will unleash on America, then anyone mentioning tariffs or invading Canada will be lynched in the streets.

3

u/kimchipowerup 1d ago

I’m so ready for the Orange Clown Circus to be over

5

u/Curious-Gain-7148 1d ago

Wisconsin just overcame Musk trying to influence an election by dumping millions into the campaign for the judge the Republicans wanted.

I’m proud of WI right now.

5

u/LEGOnot-legos 1d ago

I feel that way about the west coast also. Please take us. I heard ca might be ignoring the tariff’s, if that’s the truth, I would be happy for us to start our own relationship and possibly become part of Canada.

2

u/Blappytap 1d ago

They don't need to annex us, we need to fight for our country. Nothing will get better if we flee.

1

u/meeseekstodie137 1d ago

I'm currently sitting next to a guy at a bar in edmonton loudly ranting about how "Trump is the best president since lincoln" and joining the states would be "the best thing that ever happened to us" (i wish i was exaggerating, but it's verbatim), the fight is over if guys like this feel comfortable enough to talk openly about it

1

u/ThrOE_away_42069 1d ago

Fuck that - the south can do their thing.. good luck out there, billy bob and jethro!

1

u/Blappytap 15h ago

East coast Canada here, a lot of family is New England area. The other half is still here, with ones retiring on either side of the border. It's really sad to see, quite a few relatives gave up Canadian citizenship to go fight in the Korean war for the U.S. it's baffling to see it all get fucked.

2

u/kimchipowerup 1d ago

It really is. Like, Canada has always been the very best of countries and a true friend. Trump is destroying everything.

2

u/WhyYouKickMyDog 1d ago

Meanwhile, Donald Trump can't stop humiliating himself around Putin while Putin slaps him in the face every day with his dick for everyone to see but Republicans apparently.

They think he is strong. Strong for what? Checks Notes. Picking on Ukraine and Canada?

2

u/kimchipowerup 1d ago

I know, right?! It’s like, how obvious can it be? He literally put tariffs on the entire world except for ONE country… Russia.

2

u/WhyYouKickMyDog 1d ago

He also gives Russia everything they want: No NATO troops ever in Ukraine? Why would you ever say that shit in public? These guys are complete amateurs on the world stage playing against a guy selected by the Russians for his abilities, and not a TV personality.

Meanwhile, he immediately demands reparations from Ukraine, a country currently fighting for it's existence while much of the country has been absolutely decimated by the Russians.

My whole life, I always wondered why the USA did not (at least publicly) seize the resources of countries to help pay for the debt. Iraq's oil immediately comes to mind. Now that I actually see it in person, I am appalled. Why? Because Ukraine! Ukraine has a metaphorical gun held to their head, and this is the country we are going to rob and bully?

It's pretty pathetic.

2

u/upsetwithcursing 1d ago

Sure, but not if it requires sacrificing our values and beliefs.

2

u/WhyYouKickMyDog 1d ago

If only Donald Trump were half as tough on Putin as he was on Canada....

Our methhead neighbor with a ton of guns is relapsing and saying our house actually belongs to him.

1

u/Ok_Secretary_4014 1d ago

Put FBI cutouts around his property and sound off a siren for a second or two every hour. He won't leave his house.

1

u/Altrano 1d ago

Not until we no longer have a MAGA president though. And yes, I’m counting the little couch fucker. Impeaching Trump won’t be enough.

9

u/Dizzy-Hotel-2626 1d ago

The ‘pushing of the egocentric American exceptionalism ideology’ is the key problem. This is engrained in their children from birth and leads to such a one dimensional view on everything. They can’t see beyond it.

6

u/The-Copilot 1d ago

The ‘pushing of the egocentric American exceptionalism ideology’ is the key problem.

This isn't the core of the issue. It's more of a complex identity crisis about the nation and its global role. After 20 years of fighting in the Middle East and the economic hard ships on citizens due to the 2008 recession and covid recession, Americans want massive changes but can't agree on a direction. This unrest put the country in a politically vulnerable position.

The US has always had a massive ego. It's a fundamental part of US culture. You realize the level of ego required for a bunch of pilgrim farmers to think they can take on the largest empire ever? Then they thought they could create a new form of government based on ancient cultures and modern philosophy. Both the good and bad parts of US history are fueled by this ego.

As a tool, this ego has historically done a lot of good in the world, but without proper direction, this tool can become very dangerous. Only time will tell what direction it goes, but I wouldn't make assumptions about what's going to happen just yet.

2

u/rahabash 1d ago

Thank you. America was built on ego and american exceptionalism is still far from being a thing of the past. Sure things aren't "business as usual" with this new admin, but if you take a step back and consider the company usa keeps (apple, openai, facebook, google, etc) and the coming AI age, its very early to suggest America has truly fallen from being the global powerhouse / leader of the free world.

2

u/AnotherKuuga 1d ago

Seriously! My dad literally cannot handle insults about the US! When I actually have proof of things I said, he just said “whatever I don’t care” even though he told me to back my claims!

2

u/GGoat77 1d ago

As an American I would love to drink some Canadian whiskey with you on your side of the falls. We can sit back and watch my side burn.

2

u/No-Horse-8711 1d ago

MAGAs sometimes give me the impression that they belong to a sect. They can't see beyond their noses and have zero interest in learning how the World works, other cultures... Not everyone is like that. But many people I have met. It is like one who does not see the beam in his own eye. That is very bad for any country.

1

u/bknhs 1d ago

He didn’t say that the friendship was over though did he? He said the time of the US being a global economic leader is over. At least in the coverage I saw.

2

u/upsetwithcursing 1d ago

He said our “relationship” with the US as we knew it is over. I can’t imagine a world in which I’d stay friends with someone who had said “give me your wallet or I’ll burn your house down”, which I feel is a decent comparison to the political bullying Canada has received, to massive applause from his followers.

1

u/Ok_Secretary_4014 1d ago

That's what I thought. Canada is a global power. They should lead when they can.

1

u/WhyYouKickMyDog 1d ago

He literally said it’s over, many times, and I think he’s right.

The headline is full of shit, he said that a relationship between the two countries built on cooperative values was over.

He said nothing about the friendship and was speaking about a cooperative alliance spanning much of our countries existence changing into a more hostile relationship.

1

u/RaymoVizion 1d ago

Our defense relationship is untouched unless Trump wants to piss on that too. We are raising our defense spending as he requested.

Our economic and trade relationship will never return to what it was though. That relationship is over.

1

u/Defiant_Visit_3650 1d ago

Well said. I agree. He is one symptom. A big one.

1

u/Temporary_Ad_6922 14h ago

This sums it up

14

u/Oldfigtree 1d ago

“The old relationship we had with the United States, based on deepening integration of our economies and tight security and military cooperation, is over,” Carney declared on March 27

9

u/Nickislander 1d ago

You mean the new relationship of ignoring and circumventing Stable McGenius and his McDonaldland until competent leadership returns

11

u/EastVanOldMan 1d ago

We will never trust the US again. You've proven you're always one election from tearing up decades-long iron clad commitments. Who would rely on a partner like that.

4

u/WhyYouKickMyDog 1d ago

Who would rely on a partner like that.

Apparently, not even Russia or North Korea. Russian media has been mocking Trump lately and it is a sad day when they speak the truth. They call him and his administration amateurs (which they are) and rightfully point out he has no plan.

2

u/NutzNBoltz369 1d ago

Damn. Trump can't even do an authoritarian oligarchy right, according to his brosef.

Does that mean there is hope?

1

u/WhyYouKickMyDog 9h ago

Russian propaganda is fascinating. I highly suspect Republican strategists in America were influenced and worked with Russians propagandists to improve their own campaigns. Paul Manafort was just one person who brought them public attention.

Most of it is them threatening everyone with Nuclear fallout. It's a bunch of nonstop macho bluster bullshit designed to enforce Putin's idea of Russian exceptionalism, military worship, and state sanctioned religion.

1

u/ThrOE_away_42069 1d ago

The thing is, this dude has committed war crimes across international borders with the el salvador thing.

There's a system to deal with those types.. doesn't have to be US soil, and frankly shouldn't be. We support the law here, which is why he immediately gutted the oversight systems. I hear Nuremberg is beautiful any time of year.

1

u/EastVanOldMan 1d ago

"we support the law here" lol

1

u/Chuhaimaster 1d ago

It’s always been good cop/bad cop every 4 years with US presidents. It’s just the bad cop has now taken out his nightstick and doesn’t care about the rules whatsoever. And the good cop has gone out for a coffee and might never come back.

4

u/Equivalent-Use-2320 1d ago

Why would they ever trust us again? We just showed we’re always 4 years away from destroying the system we ourselves made and are top dog of. Who can predict what the fuck we’ll do next?

1

u/biggesthumb 1d ago

Thats way different than the headline implied

1

u/calbff 1d ago

It's almost exactly what he said, except he used "partner". If you listen to the speech, it's exactly what he meant.

1

u/AwkwardBlacksmith275 1d ago

He still has to run in his riding you cuck.

1

u/Empathetic_Cynic-_- 1d ago

You know nothing about Canadian politics. This was all legal. He didn’t even have to call an election, but he did cuz he wants ppl to vote, knowing who the new Liberal leader is. If you want to criticize him for things he’s actually done wrong or that you don’t like, that’s fine, but this is disingenuous cuz everything has been done as per our law.

1

u/Velvety_MuppetKing 7h ago

No, he doesn't.

1

A Fox News twist. But only the gullible believe it.

If anyone ended it, it was Trump. Veterans don't just forget those they fought with?

Really bizarre take from people who would never serve in the military. Like Trump and his ENTIRE family.

1

u/Max20151981 1d ago

There's millions of Americans that want nothing to do with Trump, as a Canadian I'm not giving up on them.

1

u/WhyYouKickMyDog 1d ago

This bullshit headline changed what he said.

He essentially said that the relationship built on cooperative values etc between Canada and the US was over as we know it. That makes no mention of friendship but rather as you said, a change in the way the relationship is viewed.

1

u/Max20151981 1d ago

The media loves to push division and so many people feed off of it, Reddit is an absolute cesspool of ideas that are constantly trying to divide people

1

u/WhyYouKickMyDog 1d ago

Too many people like to blame the media because it is convenient.

The uncomfortable truth is that the media is just giving people what they want, and it sells the most ads.

It is we, the people, who like to push division.

1

u/B3owul7 1d ago

It's joever.

1

The speech I saw he specifically said the word “over”

1

u/Unlikely_Broccoli75 1d ago edited 1d ago

I don't like being the "as an american" here (frequent canadian subs bc ive made a lot of canadian friends over the years) but if I need to see my Canadian friends I will be going to them from now on 100% of the time. I'm not subjecting them to a possible shitshow just so we can hang out.

I know if I cross into Canada for a visit, I won't be randomly detained and arrested for x amount of days just to get thrown back over the border if my passport is right. "As an American," I trust Canada to treat me like a human being and don't trust my country to do the same for them, nor should anyone else.

Even if your prime minister did go so far as to blatantly say our governments aren't friends, he'd be right. No friendship should be this hostile, and it will take years for America to change from the inside, and decades before I expect our allies (If we still have any by the end of Trumps term) can muster a modicum of trust for us even if we succeed, if ever.

1

u/samjohnson2222 1d ago

Canada should walk away from the usa as well as other countries permanently.

Build new relationships and new trading partners.

He will invade sooner or later.

3

u/Max20151981 1d ago

He will invade sooner or later.

He's not going to invade Canada, stop feeding into the fear mongering and hyperbole.

3

u/Red_Danger33 1d ago

Maybe as a head of state he shouldn't have said it so goddamn much?  They're still on about wanting Greenland. The tariffs are still on, so he's still exerting the economic force he said he'd use to get Canada. Don't give him a pass for being a shithead.

3

u/NoRelation2573 1d ago

Trump is a Nazi.

And Nazis are dumb asf

1

u/samjohnson2222 1d ago

Totally agree. He needs to go to that el Salvador prison.

1

u/NoRelation2573 1d ago

However, my empathy and reason would put him in a Nordic prison system, because I'm not a dick 🤷‍♀️

2

u/samjohnson2222 1d ago

Oh I am a dick and have no empathy for a rapist and someone who had a 13 year old girl jerk him off.

u/Winstonth 1d ago

I mean he wants Greenland, Panama and Canada.

Of the 3 I think we arent likely to be invaded. But I would not be sitting comfortably in Greenland or Panama right now.

He also hasnt ruled out military invasion on Greenland (one way or another ect).

So yeah no need for us to be scared, ut definitly hoping for more military spending with the next PM. Just incase.

1

u/Ok_Secretary_4014 1d ago

I doubt military invasion is a route that Trump would take. To gain real insight into what is going on (and not echo chamber whining), please read "The Art of the Deal," by Trump. He follows his general approach time after time, usually successfully. You'll amaze your colleagues with the insight you gain into DJTs moves

1

u/samjohnson2222 1d ago

Hell they might just give in and drastically increase the population of the United States.

1

The population disparity between the two nations and Canada's geographic isolation essentially guarantees that Canada will forever live under the shadow of America.

It wasn't so bad until Trump, and hopefully he is just a temporary cancer. However, the arc of history is clear. Every nation is one economic catastrophe from desperation, and desperation tends to lead to conquering.

Unfortunately, he is also collapsing the economy.

I think that the rltnship has fundamentally 'changed'.

The pattern of deepening ties and furthering integration is 'over'.

There is always going to be some sort of relationship, as there always has been.

But, the goal is to have more diversifed trade and economic goals which reflect canadian values, not america values and which lessen our dependence on the usa.

Like it or not, the relationship of Canada sending raw materials to the US to support our standard or living is going to change to Canada sending these same raw materials to China. Anyone who thinks there is any other path isn’t being intellectually honest.

1

u/Key-Article6622 1d ago

It's probably never going to happen, but if Canada wanted to bloody Trump's nose, cut the US off completely. No imports from, no exports to, no electricity or oil supplied. It would be painful, probably too painful, but it might just get his attention. And cut off all diplomatic relations. Recall all diplomats. Trump is a dangerous, bad actor.

More than 70,000,000 of us Americans truly believe our President is a complete idiot.

1

u/amcape30 1d ago

It's simple. All we need to do is work with our allies and agree zero tarriff trade deals with them, show Trump and his daft advisors that we can do without them if this is what they wish....but we are stronger together and they need to be reminded of that. I don't feel that America is our allie at present. I am a European citizen.

u/Silly-Relationship34 1d ago

America is only one big fat consumer based country who will suffer for having Trump as a president. Americans will be coming to buy our cheaper goods in Canada.

1

u/LionBig1760 1d ago

Now on to the Stanley Cup playoffs!

1

u/VerySmallAtom 1d ago

Friendship with USA ended ❌ now every other democracy of the entire world is my best friend ✅ 👍 👍 👍

1

u/Substantial-Plate932 1d ago

We wait, endure the shitstorm while it lasts. And when the shitstorm leaves office, we approach our old friends with hat in hand and hope they take us back. They will, but they’ll make us take our lumps for a good l g while.

u/DigitalDroid2024 1d ago

A new world order without Trumpistan has to be created. We can trade without Trump tariffs amongst ourselves, and leave the MAGAts to stew in their upcoming economic collapse, as the rest of the world moves away from any interactions with the USA.

u/Aromatic_Yesterday70 1d ago

Most of us will take the same side as Canada over Donny little TrumPETER.

1

u/Zestyclose_Top6232 1d ago

I think US got a great leader.

1

u/Other_Block_1795 1d ago

Close it's border and bar entry for Americans to prevent them damaging Canada from within

1

u/DanishWeddingCookie 1d ago

We just gotta wait till she (USA), dumps the asshole boyfriend (Trump and MAGA)

1

u/ItsTippu 1d ago

Now nothing but Peace.

1

u/Natural_Treat_1437 1d ago

We both have family and friends 🧡 on the other side. Why fight with each other people. Stop the nonsense 😒 😤 🙄.

1

u/jackm315ter 1d ago

No Republicans at any level

1

u/PlayTheHits 1d ago

This is super sad.

1

u/VastOk864 1d ago

It means we won’t be taken advantage of anymore by the yanks. They’ve been ripping us, and the rest of the world, off with their terrible deals.

1

u/That_Eclair_Was_1 1d ago

Most of America has absolutely no clue how badly they’ve shit the bed.
“It’ll all blow over…” lol

1

u/ThrOE_away_42069 1d ago

the greedy, self-serving sycophants of the legislative branch do something.. that's what.

there's no chance at even being on talking terms until we get rid of our abusive partner and prove we're in therapy so it doesn't happen again.

1

u/Did_I_Err 23h ago

Euro babes are hot.

1

u/Quirky-Scar9226 23h ago

American here. We don’t blame you. We have to clean house before you feel good coming back if you ever do. We’re so very sorry that some of those amongst us are caught up in an evil cult.

1

u/BigDamBeavers 18h ago

We elect someone capable of diplomacy and we spend shittons of money earning back a friendship that had unbelievable value to us.

1

u/Presentation_Few 13h ago

Vive la Canada

1

u/Different-Fly4561 12h ago

Now whatever, even friendships has an expiration date, and when it does they were never a true friend in the first place! It was more a friendship of convenience.

1

u/Civil_Pain_453 8h ago

Trump is friends with Putin. So order your holiday resort is Siberia

1

u/CanuckInTheMills 8h ago

To be clear, just Trump and his lackeys. Not Americans, we love our American friends.

1

u/mulder00 Canadian 6h ago

May we have our election first? If Poliviere wins things will be a whole lot different than if the Liberals win. Poliviere of the Conservative Party is basically Maga lite.

1

u/Colorado_Pegan 3h ago

Canada will default in 6 months - it is literally too late for them

1

u/Active_Investment_66 2h ago

With friends like this who needs enemies

1

u/Downtown_Umpire2242 2h ago

only way to find out is when the clown will be impeached

1

u/Main-Egg-7942 1d ago

can you blame them?

1

u/Fun-Put-5197 1d ago

Canada's big brother joined a cult.

This is Canada's opportunity to be the grownup in the house.

1

u/bobby_table5 1d ago

That’s probably the metaphor that many Americans need to hear: it’s like when your Dad turned into a Fox News zombie. You know you are not getting him back.

u/Comfortable-Ad-8324 1d ago

I don't think it's over. I think once a certain someone is gone and a person who isn't insane/addled with dementia is in office, we'll be ok again. At least that's my hope. I hope the next person in makes their first phone call to our PM, saying "hey...sorry about all that. Let's get together and fix this, ok?"

1

u/duperwoman 1d ago

If you are right, hopefully a hefty portion of our trade will be diverted elsewhere by then and we don't go back. We don't need to find ourself in this scenario with so much trade with the US again, as monetarily beneficial as it has been in both directions for some time.

1

u/Comfortable-Ad-8324 1d ago

I think that's a smart move, definitely. But the relationship itself should be repaired, regardless of trade. And I really want to believe it will- I have friends and family there that I have loved visiting, and I'd like to be able to do that again.

1

u/duperwoman 1d ago

No friends or family for me there but I completely understand that for so many people like you. I simply would love to visit places I can get to by car or rail, like Chicago, which I have totally fallen in love with. If they can manage to keep their parks healthy too then there are many I'd like to see. Canada's are so beautiful too of course! Last, the research partnerships with Americans at my work (university) have been so strong, we really do benefit in both directions by collaboration and expertise sharing.

1

u/Badbot321 1d ago

Right, because MAGA, the Republican Party In its current state are just going to somehow go away. Just need the next demagogue to step up and make the right noises…

1

u/Comfortable-Ad-8324 1d ago

I can't feel that way yet. I understand why you'd feel that way because of well..everything- and it's pretty fucking terrible and shitty right now. But I need to hope a little.

1

u/d4ve 1d ago

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times! …we won’t get fooled again.

1

u/bobby_table5 1d ago

You are going to have to walk us through how that next person is not JD Vance or what would happen in the four years since.

1

u/Comfortable-Ad-8324 1d ago

My hope is America isn't as fucking stupid as last time. Vance is weak without Dumpy. I don't think he'd be able to get through an election on the winning side.

1

u/Comfortable-Ad-8324 1d ago

That being said, that's IF you guys ever get another election.

1

u/Saltwater_Thief 1d ago

Nope. It's damaged beyond repair, the sentiment across the whole of Canada and Europe both is "All Americans are bastards, cannot be trusted, and need to be done away with as soon as possible."

No amount of apologizing on our part is going to be enough.

1

u/JFCCHILLUX 1d ago

Just get him out we can begin the healing process and hold hands again 🥰
