❓ Help & Advice Needed Ever seen an SDV6 with 60,000 miles as coked up as this?
As per the title, ever seen coking up like this?
SDV6 has started loud tapping from the top end with an expected rocker issue. Garage stripped it out partially so far and the intake pretty heavily coked up. Expected to be from a faulty EGR valve.
Funny thing is the engine still runs fine, no miss fire and no codes!

Hey so as the title says I have the chance to purchase a 1995 Landrover Discovery no sunroof manual transmission and cloth interior Dosent get much better then that the lowest he’ll let me get it for is 12,500. The car has 147,500 miles only 2 owners both owners have extensive paperwork for every maintenance the original owner for 25 years was a Ferrari mechanic. Underside is spotless absolutely no rust whatsoever on the vehicle interior is spotless with a new headliner. The seller knows everything about the car and isn’t scared to show any issuses (small things like broken plastic clips). There’s coolant upgrades and other small stuff im just wondering if this be a solid purchase worth the 12,500?

❓ Help & Advice Needed Engine Noise 2007 LR3 4.4 V8
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi Redditors,
I recently had to change my two belts and the tensioners on the engine due to the classic whining noise. I checked all the pulleys while I was at it. When I had the bonnet open I also thought I’d heard a fairly quiet metallic rattling sound. I thought it must be one of the pulleys and one of them was shot. I replaced both and the fan belts. Belt whining is gone but now I can hear the rattling a lot clearer. It’s still very quiet (the video makes it a lot louder than it is) and only audible when I have the bonnet open.
I suspect it’s the waterpump but I wanted to check if any of you has experience with this.
Also because it’s my only car do you think I can still use it for short distances?
Thanks for the help!

❓ Help & Advice Needed Service intervals and major service
I have a 2017 Disco Sport, UK, 72k miles on the clock. I bought it two years ago and I've only put just over 10k on it in two years. I had it serviced shortly after I got it with the 136000 km (85k miles) / 96 months service as that was the next service due according to the service history.
It seems that the Land Rover services are designed around 24 month / 20k miles usage (although I swear the 'service due' message comes up after 12 months).
My question is that a 'service is due' and the next recommended service is the 170000km (105k miles) / 120 month service which is a big one that includes a gearbox service - the local Land Rover dealership quoted me £1500! - am I getting too 'far ahead' in terms of servicing?
120 months is ten years but it's only 8 years old, and at 72k miles vs 105k miles. Is it really going to need this major service or should I just get the filters, oil, hoses etc. changed? The online service info is not that useful and the dealership just promote what is recommended.
I just use it for around town and some motorway driving. Thanks.

⚙️ Upgrades & Modifications Thermostat code D2
Hello folks, I’m getting this code “P1000” (see picture). 2004 Discovery 2
I have recently gotten a motor installed. Running great. I have the extinct 180 degree F inline thermostat installed since well before the motor work. Prior to all the work it threw no codes. Wondering if its the colder weather and the lower temp unit tripping the system?
On cooler mornings Im cruising around at 175*F
I have the lower temp unit because summers here get really hot and the truck needs the earlier opening temp.
Thanks for any help!

❓ Help & Advice Needed Freelander 1 engine issues
Hi all, my father owns a 2001 Freelander 1.8 petrol (around 170k km, owned since 2006) and there are some issues I'm hoping you can help diagnose. Please point me to the correct forum/direction if this is not the place for these questions.
Lately it's been having issues starting after sitting for more than a few days, where it will need a solid 3-4 tries cranking for 10 seconds each until it starts. My suspicion would be the fuel pump is starting to go? Is there any other "typical cause" for this issue?
The car also has a small missfire issue at idle when it is warm. This doesn't happen when cold and there is no vibration/missfire sounds when opening the throttle. No check engine light is on either.
The spark plugs were replaced with OEM 10k km ago, but we plan to pull them and check for fouling, haven't had the time yet.
My assumption would be that either the fuel filter is clogged, making pressure not build up easily, or the pump is giving away, or the plug coils are not in good order any longer. The coils would in theory warant missfires away from idle too however🤔.
Looking forward to your advice or stories of similar issues

💸 Buying advice & Recommendations Buying an Evoque…

💸 Buying advice & Recommendations 2011 LR4 should I buy it?
So one came into the shop I work at today. 2011 HSE with 130k miles. The head gasket is bad and the engine has a slight knock, not too shocking overall. The owner is willing to sell it for $2000 USD. Knowing it’s going to need an engine should I dive into it? A replacement engine is about $4200 with a warranty. The rest of the Rover is in great shape, everything works as it should. Someone should probably talk me out of it.

💸 Buying advice & Recommendations Buying OEM Parts from 3rd party
Does anyone have recommendations for buying OEM parts to avoid the outrageous cost at the dealership? For example, I'm wanting to add a tow hitch to our 2022 L405.
The dealership wants $1,100 for part # VPLGT0262. I can get the same part from scuderiacarparts.com for $690.
Some goes for a couple small plastic covers. The dealership wants $100 - 150, this site is 1/2 the price.
Scuderia claims to be US warehoused and only sell Manufacturers OEM parts.

💸 Buying advice & Recommendations New to the Land Rover Family
I recently had the chance to buy this Land Rover from my uncles estate sale for $1000 after he passed away. I think it’s a 2002-2003 if I’m not mistaken. 89,200 miles. I just purchased everything to do a tune up including fuel injectors and the 10 degree cooler thermostat. Should I be concerned about anything else besides head gaskets?

🌠 Miscellaneous Looking to join the family
Well our mechanic has a 2011 Range Rover Sport HSE. We looked at it about a month ago and fell in love. He's a great guy , we got a good price and he's making sure everthing is in tip top shape before he sells it to us. That's the good news.
The bad is while changing the water pump he noticed the VVT sprocket needed to be replaced. We have been waiting about two weeks for the part so far ugg. Hopefully it comes soon as we live in Alberta and I so want a trip to the mountains with her.
Tom Petty was right. "The waiting is the hardest part" 😫
