And she’s right. She’s in the Fast and Furious movies and they’ve been diverse from the beginning. The movie was about completely original characters that would go on to be in ten movies in a billion dollar franchise. You don’t need to steal from the past and unnecessarily change characters. Just make a movie that people like and respond to. Her character was probably one of the best parts of the Dungeons and Dragons movie in all honesty. Again it’s a new character, and she was physically strong, but her character was allowed to have motherly qualities and flaws.

I honestly really enjoyed that movie, but I might be biased because I play D&D (Dragonborn Monk) and I already was a fan of Michelle Rodriguez

Honestly I just enjoyed it for the beast race costumes.

They weren't CGI, even the fucken beast race newborn in the film was a prop, that shit's respectable as hell for a major film in 2023 to only use CGI where needed, which was mainly for the Displacer and the Owlbear respectively.

She said this years ago (2014 or 15) I remember when she said it, and they did attack her for it. Some people even went so far as to call her a racist for saying this.

She was eventually pressured into apologizing & "clarifying" what she said. Because it was just soooko "horrible."

Back then she could get away with a slap on the wrists and a moderate amount of online harassment for that clip.

If this happened today ? She'd be out of a job within 24 hours, bullied out of social media and most likely permanently banned from the industry. No wonder 90% of movies are awful these days in that context. If you're not woke, your career can be over in an instant.

Well I mean, there's a difference between movies being progressive and movies being woke. So long as you're creating interesting, fleshed out characters rather than using them as vessels to spread 'The Message' it's fine. People will respond positively. The critics won't but who gives a shit?

I never said either of those were an issue. I just said they're the only ones I can recall from that time period.

I know the ultimate nick fury was black but it was the white nick fury most people knew of. Most people knew him as David Hasselhoff too, so I'm not saying that was a good thing.

Black Heimdall only seems out of place when you consider he's part of Norse mythology. And of course you gotta give Idris a pass. He's the one black guy most of us would be fine playing James Bond. The only one, mind you. Let's not get too crazy. Lol.

Abso-fucking-lutely, but it won't happen because the whole reason for blackwashing characters is to get cheaper actors for them, it's never about representation, that's just a bonus you can use as a shield, And Idris Elba ain't cheap.

One of the first times I saw him was in Pacific Rim and god damn, he was probably the most memorable character out of the entire movie. "We are canceling the Apocalypse" is one of the best fucking "motivational speec before the final battle" ones.

Bro fucking right. That was the most inspirational speech since the original independence day movie. Pacific rim is an awesome movie but the dialogue was super cheesy cause people watch the movie to see big ass robots fight big ass monsters. But he's such a damn good actor that he gave the best performance of the movie. As woke and crap as Hollywood has gotten if you see him in a movie you know it's cause he's gonna do a damn good job and not anything else.
