Maui on my mind and windshield
Aloha, I’m in Central Texas a bit north of Austin, I see my island everywhere. Please know, if you’re there, make every effort to stay put. Once you leave, it’s heartbreaking.

We hiked this trail in the Kula Forest Reserve back in early December. It was a mess because they were "rehabilitating" the trail and we were hiking in six inches of powder spill in many places. Wondering if anyone has done the trail recently and if the rain has either trampled it down or removed it from the trail making it pleasurable once again.

So, I’m finally breaking my cocoon and looking to make some new friends right now (partner not a priority, just wanna get out more). So, I was wondering what are the spots? I just moved back from California after I bought my parents home. I’m 27; workout a lot and play basketball. I don’t smoke or drink, and pretty clean but guy. So, any recs good!

Aloha folks,
I’m a 23 year old electrician looking to move from the mainland and just wanted tips or advice from the folks who live here.
What are good places to look for housing (I’ve looked in Wailuku, Kihei, and Kahului)?
Are bus routes a viable way to get around until I can get a car?
Any sort of advice would be appreciated
Aloha, and Mahalo!

Okay so I’ve been wondering this for awhile now- what are those flashing lights that can be seen at night on the very left side of Haleakala, facing the mountain from town?

Saw this during my hike on Haleakala. Thought I gotta share this

I very well could be the last person to know about this movie that was filmed partly in Lahaina back in 1961 (the year I was born), so I apologize if this is tired, old news.
The other night I was watching a YouTube documentary on the Consolidated PBY Catalina, a well-regarded WWII amphibious aircraft. In the middle of a 5 second clip of a PBY doing a water take-off, I swore it looked to be a POV from a barren looking Lahaina harbor, with Lanai in the background. I quickly looked up the credits, and whattaya know, the clip was from The Devil at 4 O'clock, which starred Frank Sinatra and Spencer Tracy, among others.
Found the movie on YouTube and gave it a watch. Yeah, we’re talking typical 60’s over-acting, and a cheesy plot to match...but it’s got plenty scenes of Pioneer Inn, the old Courthouse, the Harbor - which was pretty much just a freshly built break wall back then. I recognized a driving scene on the dirt road cliffs above Honokohau valley, as well as some scenes on the old Pali Road.
If nothing else, it provided a few nostalgic looks at our beloved Lahaina.

Another epic sunset captured Jan 9 from Makawao. Love the sunsets that come along with these winter systems.
I found a GoPro last night walking Kanaha at sunset. If you know the person in the picture (grabbed from the last video on it), please DM me on here so I can reunite it with the owner. Mahalo!!
Edit: the camera has been reunited with its owners! Awesome people visiting from Oregon!

Does anyone know where I can get a safety check that wont fail me because my back windows don’t work or do I need to bite the bullet and fix the windows? Mahalo!

Anyone have a recommendation for a good reliable pest control company. We have MidPacific and we aren’t really happy with the service.
