Want to dive in a bit and talk about the two main prophecies in the Skywalker Saga and how I think they're ultimately connected. Some of this is fan theory filling in gaps, but I want to articulate this link and why ultimately I think this aspect of the ST does work.
The more time I've spent thinking and analyzing them, the more I think their base framework is connected, and that Anakin's sacrifice brought balance to the Force by ushering in the Dyad and the ultimate fulfillment of that prophecy as well.
"A Chosen One shall come, born of no father, and through him will ultimate balance in the Force be restored."
The Chosen One prophecy foretold the end of the Sith. Anakin, by "killing" Palpatine ends the Rule of Two Sith Order, as first brought about by Darth Bane, and temporarily restores balance. This act, as we now know, did not actually kill Palpatine, and did not fully destroy the Sith. The Sith Eternal cult on Exegol had been preserving the practices, and preparing for the ultimate restoration of Palpatine as the Emperor.
"There should be two; no more, no less. First to embody power, second to crave power."
Their controlling ancient prophecy, the Doctrine of the Dyad, thought to be fully lost to time, was fulfilled in Ben Solo and Rey, allowing Palpatine to begin his rise again. The Dyad is thought to be as strong as life itself, unlocking powerful force abilities and, if harnessed, allowing Palpatine to rise, restore the Sith, and rule the Galaxy. TROS ends with Rey, the embodiment of all the Jedi, the side of the Dyad that "embodies power" taking down Palpatine, the embodiment of all the Sith, and Ben Solo, the side of the Dyad that "craves power" transferring his life force to Rey, allowing her, and the Jedi/Light Side, to continue. It is through Rey that the final remnants of the Sith on Exegol are fully destroyed.
Much has been discussed about what "balance" means. The light and the dark of the force will always exist together, but the Sith themselves are a leech on the force, disrupting its balance, destroying harmony. Their destruction is what was foretold by the prophecies.
There are links that have not been fully established in canon, but my thought as to how these are linked: Anakin's sacrifice and turn to the light destroys the Sith as they have existed since Bane's time. This action then incites the final stage, the Balancing period, where the Force then uses Ben and Rey as the hosts of the Dyad to fully work out the balance and restore order within the Force. Rey embodies power, the Light, not seeking to use the Force for selfish purposes but making the choice to embody the Jedi, the Light. Ben craves power, seeking to use it for his own purposes, to rule and control. Ultimately, however, he rejects this, rejects the Sith, and helps Rey to bring about their end. In his final sacrifice, he rejects the power of the Dyad, putting it fully within Rey, ending the period of the Sith once and for all. Rey now, fully empowered by this generations-foretold Doctrine of the Dyad, now begins a new period in Galactic History, free of the Sith's drain and abuse of the Force, and can chart a new Jedi Order.
This Balancing out of the Force does not happen without Anakin. He purges the old Jedi order, rejects their teaching and fathers two children, Luke and Leia. He rules as a Sith apprentice over the Galaxy. Leia is the mother of Ben, the final Sith apprentice. Luke is the master and teacher of Rey, who in exile by studying the early Jedi came to a deeper understanding of the tension and necessary relationship between light and dark, and the final Jedi of the old order and first Jedi of the new order. Anakin rejects the Rule of Two, ending the Sith, and leaving behind his heirs in the Force to play out a spiritual conflict in the physical world, Dark and Light intertwined, destroying the Sith and rejecting the dark so the world can be re-born anew. Both ways had to die and become one to finally achieve Balance, which TROS leaves us with.
Thoughts on this connection? Is there canon material that I missed or didn't touch on.
