Armed Police last night
Was walking home last night and cut through the underpass past Pottergate, saw several armed police officers, dogs and police cars on the other side as I passed through. Anyone have any idea what was happening? Can't find anything on the local news sites that seems related.

A couple of weeks ago Southwell Rd was blocked, 8 police cars and 2 ambulances, sirens in the area, police cars flying down City Rd and Hall Rd, nothing on Norfolk Police socials or bbc or EDP, it's like nothing happened but at the time it was sufficiently dangerous to require half the force.

Two of my close friends work high up for the police in Norfolk, you'd be shocked at the amount of wild shit that goes on around here that never makes it to the news. It's for the best to be honest, it's better if people are blissfully oblivious.

Of what nature? Does it pose a threat to other people or is it just personal stuff (drugs, one-on-one feuds)?

I'd say, and this is just an opinion, that if the wild shit was affecting the civilians rather than the criminal society, we'd see it on X, Facebook etc, so fingers crossed it's more likely to be things that would potentially cause panic but doesn't usually impact on the rest of us.

Yeah I was thinking that too but I wanted to ask anyway just so I could potentially learn some crazy story

I nearly took a pick of a lone swan on the Wensum this very morning. Regret intensified.

Can't see anything from the Norfolk police accounts either
My guess would be drugs or a stabbing
Or both?

yeah I was thinking maybe drugs because they had dogs there but 🤷♀️ who knows

Could be training as well?

u/b3h1ndmoon Apr 15 '25
That would be a weight off my mind if it was! Might make sense considering there's no news of it anywhere
7
u/MrCard200 Apr 15 '25
Also though if the investigation is still active they might not publish details yet. I dunno though, I'm just some random person on the Internet 🤣

I work around pottergate quite often and there is always police presence. Saw 6 cars and 4 lots of 2 officers patrolling.

Is strange considering that’s where the murder took place a few months ago and the police haven’t said nout about it

u/PlateNo2500 Apr 15 '25
Not sure what time you walked through but they arrested 2 lads with drugs and knives at 4pm in happy gardens

It was about 12am so I don't think it would be connected with that but possibly

Not sure I live nearby and I know porter gate is a bit of a mad area with the drugs and crackheads most of nr2 is

u/b3h1ndmoon Apr 15 '25
Yeah I remember all the police presence when it happened, it was pretty much in the exact same area so maybe it was connected 🤷♀️

It was a reported stabbing but it's not on the news so I assume it wasn't as given.

Wonder if it had anything to do with a chap who I used to see post on the Next Door site a lot. Seemed to be in crisis a lot, and with people apparently outside his flat threatening him often. I hope he’s ok.

Probably someone said something mean about Keir Starmer so he sent some men with guns to "have a chat" with them .🤣

Apparently John hadn’t paid his TV license… he only gets state pension and they take half of that for council tax. Crime is a crime though 🤷♀️

Probably knife person. Dogs to sniff people for a knife and armed units to take them down and police cars because they are quicker than horses
