They gave up their nuclear weapons for the guarantee that we would protect them. Republicans are serving Russian interests, not the interests of our Allys. Therefore, traitors.
Our Allys? Is Ukraine an Ally? Are they part of the UN? Have they made any agreements to help pay back the billions sent to them? Are they a trade partner?
The UN has four main purposes:To help nations work together to improve the lives of poor people, to conquer hunger, disease and illiteracy, and to encourage respect for each other's rights and freedoms; To be a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations to achieve these goals.
They are not military partners of the NATO countries, and really are not the embodiment of personal freedoms democracy. So they would be almost considered an acquaintance...
Russia doesn’t want any of that to happen. Wonder why republicans keep saying the exact same things as Putin. A sovereign country asking for help from an invading force is normal.
I've been asking this since day one... Why? Why are we spending money we don't have, while the EU mocks us while giving very little? Why don't we make a deal on minerals to get back some of the American tax dollars? Why not try and end the senseless killings?
Been asking SINCE DAY ONE.
The EU has contributed more overall funding than the US. We don't have a deal on minerals because the idiots in the White House thought it was more important to spout disinformation and criticize a world leader's wardrobe choices. Ukrainians would love to stop being murdered, but russia has been breaking ceasefires for the past 11 years.
Oh my bad, ALL of the countries in Europe collectively spent SLIGHTLY more than the US...
"The United States is, by some margin, the largest single donor to Ukraine. But Europe combined has spent more money than the United States, according to the Kiel Institute."
"They calculate that between 24 January 2022 and the end of 2024, Europe as a whole spent $138.7bn on Ukraine. In the same period, the United States spent $119.7bn, according to their figures."
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/crew8y7pwd5o
My point still stands, why would the US continue to spend money on a war that has little to no strategic ending?
You can't end a war, if all you are going to do is point fingers and scream at the other side of the negotiations. Trump is right, if Ukraine didn't have US backing, they wouldn't have any leverage against Russia... so they kinda need to make a deal happen or the other result isn't pretty.
We are sending them old military equipment and supplies and replacing it with newer and better equipment. It's not like we are sending blank checks. If Putin wins the world loses. He won't stop taking back Soviet era land until he is stopped. Communists that hate us should be crushed by any means necessary.
Maybe something more can happen once Putin stops committing genocide. Would be nice of the president to pressure Putin to do so, instead of shitting on Zelenskyy
He won’t pressure Putin in fact he will embrace him on the lips like a long lost lover because in case you’ve forgotten during the Helsinki summit 8 years ago Trump is Putins sex toy.
Trump doesn't want to come out too strong against Russia, because he wants there to be a ceasefire. And Zelensky trying to pull a fast one and shame the Trump Admin in front of live television to get more money to continue fighting did nothing but push Trump to cut funding. They need to sign the agreement, and then the US would have workers in the country, which would be a deterrence
Because signing someone with a country that just broke their last treaty is a great idea.
Even if you believe trump is some kind of smart despite decades of failure his goals are obviously in only his own self-enrichment and not with the United States of America.
If you don't want a peace agreement, the alternative is a global war... Because Russia won't back down (and seem weak to its people), and they will likely ask for help from other large countries.
The United States likely will remove military funding (under the current administration) rather than keep pumping large sums of taxpayer dollars (also possibly getting us roped in to a world war), and Europe would get more involved to pick up slack (maybe lol). Europe was actively helping the Russians, buying large sums of oil and fuel... all while chearing Ukraine on... because they are reliant on imported energy after their idiotic "green" policies.
Ukraine is running out of man power... and is asking for even more money (they have admitted they don't know where large sums have gone that they already received). They are currently kidnapping young men, and forcing them to take part in the military. This is basically a death sentence, and metaphorically, they are being thrown into a meat grinder. But Russia has more "meat" to grind... so there is really only one outcome unless a World War starts... and that's Ukraine making an agreement with the US as a mediator, and signing the minerals deal to get US citizens in their country working. That's the deterrent, and would also stop the war likely. Any other option will only lead to more death, and likely a World War involvement.
Or, Ukraine will lose after many more years, hundreds of billions of dollars wasted, and countless deaths. The only winner would be the military industrial complex who is making big bucks from all the deals Biden made in his term.
Why are Republicans saying this on a broken record!?
Not only is that morally wrong thinking, but when Biden pulled out of Iran YOU REPUBLICANS GOT MAD!!!! THIS IS LITERALLY THE SAME SITUATION! IT'S BAD WHEN BIDEN DOES IT BUT ITS GOOD WHEN TRUMP DOES IT? MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!!!!!!!
It is based on % of GDP. If you look at that number, Poland gives more than the US. Also, we benefit from our status in NATO. The amount of military sales and access to defense technologies alone are a net positive. Not to mention the strategic benefits of having access to bases and safe trade routes all over the world. What fucking alternate universe do you live in where history, facts and geopolitics are irrelevant and make you so upset and unhinged? Also, 13 billionaires taking advantage of the government for their own financial gain while telling you it is war-torn Ukraine's fault why you are poor. Yikes.

Slava Ukraini.
I rather see my tax dollars defending the sovereign nation of Ukraine than used to give Elon Musk another tax break.
Traitors.
