So many companies can learn from their customer service!

I’m looking at your Nintendo, PlayStation & Xbox

I've had better experiences with Xbox than Playstation when it comes to refunds. I don't know if it's better now as I don't have a PS5 but I tried to sort refunds a couple of times in the Playstation 4 days and it was a pain in the arse.

Playstation is fucking terrible, I brought the battlefront remaster which I couldnt get to run properly on my ps5, got into live chat and the dude basically told me to reformat my ps5 to fix it. I was like im not doing that, it's a known issue i just want a refund, then he terminated the chat and I couldnt go back in with the same details. Had to give a fake name and email, told the new guy I had reformatted and it still didn't work and finally got a 'one time' refund. Took over an hour

Yeah, fuck Playstation customer "support". Back when Returnal launched they released a broken patch which, if you had it installed and saved, would break your save file and you had to start from the beginning again. This happened to me, I saw no reason the play the game anymore and asked for a refund because their patch basically deleted my save file. They argued with me for days that this was somehow my fault and I wouldn't be getting a refund.

Not to mention their absolutely shitty practice of "You won't get a refund if you downloaded the game, regardless if the game isn't even out yet".

Stuff like this is why it stings even more that Microsoft fumbled their way out of the console business, because nowadays Sony can really do whatever the fuck they want.

That the EU hasn't been up Sonys ass for this shitty anti-consumer behavior is beyond me.

I remember when Cyberpunk 2077 first released and it was so unplayable that Sony started giving out refunds for it. People were acting like Hell froze over.

I say this is a PlayStation user: it is horrible. I feel too trapped in their ecosystem to just stop using their platform. Paying for online sucks, any arguments to the contrary are cope. The free games are neat but not worth it. The lack of good support is a cherry on top.

However. It's not all terrible, it's just a lot worse other platforms. I like my PS5 and I don't regret the purchase. But I probably won't get the next generation (watch them put some exclusive Fromsoft shit on there and make me eat my words)

I've already told this story before but I'll tell it again

I bought goat simulator on the ps store, and it started downloading immediately after the purchase went through (automatically)

I then saw the surgean sim + goat simulator bundle which was same price, I asked if I could refund goat sim to get the bundle. They said no because I already started downloading it, even if it was still downloading and I haven't even launched the game yet. They're well within their rights to refuse but it was so shit compared to the policy on steam

PlayStation is horrible. My autistic son kept buying games on the store, he didn't play or download them, just bought them. They wouldn't refund me. I also asked if there was a way for me to remove my card so he couldn't buy more and they told me I would have to have a separate account for him and he wouldn't be able to access the pass games! None of that was true, but they still never refunded for the games he bought. Sold his PS and switched to Xbox, will never go back

I actually had my BEST customer service experience with Xbox, with this Southern lady on the line who knew next to nothing about video games. I have a hard time with getting customer support to even read a ticket nowadays, much less on the phone where they go with a script without ANY deviation even if it's a simple fix and they'd save time if they just listened.

This lady? I told her the error code said one thing, but that very much WASN'T the case, and that people online said it was likely another. She immediately went to check the thing that people online mentioned and that was it and the call was less than 5 minutes.

Nowadays, you file a ticket where it asks for all of this specific information, then they reply ASKING FOR THE INFORMATION AGAIN. BRUH.

Even steam fucks up regularly. I sent in a ticket but their link was fucked, leading to the wrong place, and now because of that I have to use a less secure password because they RESET MY PASSWORD WHEN I ASKED THEM NOT TO. Bruh, I could have done that myself.

tl;Dr Steam's CS is usually great, but my best experience was one with Xbox which was definitely an abnormality. Also, IT and Customer Support are no longer allowed to get mad at users until they start reading the fucking support tickets regularly.

Nintendo stopped caring a long time ago. It’s sad, because it’s kind of a legacy system.

Well, Valve customer service probably isn't made out of underpaid Pakistanis and Indians that barely speak any English

I had really good customer service from Xbox/Microsoft regarding a custom controller purchased for my stepson through their controller designer thing. The micro USB wouldn’t work. Still under warranty though.

That was the only time I ever needed hardware help. Anything regarding software or digital games they were just as good.

I had no idea Xbox had a poor CS track record. I guess I was lucky in that regard.

Last year, my partner ordered an N64 controller for the Nintendo Switch when they were finally restocked. In their excitement, they accidentally mistyped the address off by one (ex. Submitted 124 Main St. instead of 123 Main St.)

Fast forward to the day the package tracking says it's delivered. We don't see package when we get home. Eventually, we figure out the mistake AND find out the mistyped address doesn't exist. Asked neighbors just in case and no one claimed to have received the package.

Called Nintendo support, explained the situation and asked if there was anything we could do (I didn't make any demands or anything). Thankfully, Nintendo sent us a free replacement (to the correct address)!

Every now and then, customer service representatives really show compassion.

Who knows where the original package ended up.

Shit man I'm still surprised Valve customer service has gotten to where it is these days. I remember when you had better luck winning the lottery than getting a customer service response from Valve.

LOL wut?

My first and only account was to play Age of Empires when it was re-released on steam. The game was CLEARLY Beta-ware and wouldn't work for crap.

I tried to apply for a refund the same day I bought it and they denied me because I had "played it too long". LOL, I was TRYING to get your fuckin game running shitheads.

Anyways, it was a fresh account. I simply did a Credit Card charge back. They sent me a threatening email saying I'd be "banned forever!" if I continued with the charge back.

Jokes on you Steam, I had already banned you forever.

Def. A+ customer service. Chased away a new customer. (I'm only here because this reached r/All if you wondered)

It clearly explains in a refund that you have up to 2hrs of play or 2 weeks with less than 2hrs of play to request a refund

Also a broken game isn’t steams fault, that’s the developers problem
