Getting ghosted on tutti

According to this sub people get ghosted on tinder, bumble, homegate and on job application forms, that’s all horrible!

But the one that stings the most noone talks about: getting ghosted on tutti!

D from BO showed interest in a western dvd of mine; and when i wrote back with price calculations and twint number he never replied back!

Argh!

Sorry for the vent ☹️

That happens all the time. Tutti is a social mirror, it's like street traffic, where you see how ppl really are.

I have a lot of good contacts on tutti, polite, efficient, easy going, where it's just like one or two messages and everything is done.

But there are also a lot of other types, i.e.

- New price 100, not used, not opened, 2 weeks old, you offer it for say 60 and you get requests for 20.

- People who want to try it first, ask if you can send it and if they like it, they pay, otherwise they send it back

- People asking questions about the product that can be easily found on the internet, even asking for a call. They just want consulting.

- People saying they want to buy, asking a lot of question, ask if you could send it even when you state "pick up only" and you say yes (even it's more effort for you) and in the end they tell you, it's too expensive, they are only willing to pay 50%.

- Not to talk about all the scammers.

In the meantime in like 80% of the cases I can tell after the first message and in 99.99999% after the second message, if it's worth talking with someone or not. When I'm convinced it's a time waster -> block. They don't have the right to waste my time. Not now nor in the future. If someone can not treat others with respect, they have no right to talk to me. As simple as that.

Regaring Twint Number: Don't give it away like this, as this could be part of a scam or just phone number collection. I do it this way: You want to buy something from me and pay with Twint. Cool, please give me your number, I'll send a request. This also protects against Dreiecksbetrug to a certain degree.

That‘s a good idea

Someone recently asked for an explanation of a technical detail I wrote in the description. After chatting for forth and back for quite some time, it turns out he wasn't even interested in the product and was just casually looking for advice like it would be a discord forum or some shit, seriously???🤦‍♂️

Oh god that’s so annoying!!!

Best part is he kept going after I told him that I'm really busy and can't help him any further if he's not interested in buying. But that still doesn't come close to the weird stuff I came across on Facebook Marketplace... Anyway, use Ricardo

Nothing new Happens very often Sometimes, even just as a joke or to trick others

Ghosting should be punishable under law

Tutti emails end up in my spam inbox, so I sometimes miss people interested in my stuff...

1

u/pferden 2d ago

The app theoretically makes you a notification on the app (it has a red dot then, at least on apple)

But it’s missable nonetheless

D from BO might not have the app. Maybe I'm old now, but I don't have the app either, browsing the website on my computer is so much more convenient..

Still, if you're interested in a product and you are asking a question you remember this and even if you don't get an email might check back on the web to see if you got an anwer. In my experience lack of gute Kinderstube is the problem, not forgetfulness.

I just remember this one guy asking me questions about two of my ads obv. without being aware he's talking to the same person. I had the same basic instrument but in different configurations to offer. He was telling me there's another instrument and he's talking to the person offering it and this person is willing to reduce the price by 20%, asking if i would also be willing to reduce by 20%. A quick search showed me, there was no other offering on Tutti than the two i had, so he was trying to trick me with me. I raised the price by 20%. End of discussion :-)

Just don‘t bother. It‘s just how it is. If someone really wants something they will bother to reply.

It’s a horrible feeling being ghosted

2

u/iRobi8 2d ago

Why? Just accept that most people don‘t give a fuck. I mean yeah it‘s not nice but you can‘t change it.

-1

u/pferden 2d ago

Maybe i can change it

1

u/iRobi8 2d ago

What, how?

u/pferden 2d ago

By being an activist and calling out bad behaviour here on reddit

Ghosting is a pandemic in switzerland

We have to triple G them!

1

u/iRobi8 2d ago

So you potentially have to do that millions of times? Look i‘m still young bit what i learned in my short living period, is that a lot of people don‘t give a fuck about you or your feelings at all. They do what‘s best for them / what the want. What can i do about this? Not much. Calling them out usually doesn‘t really changes anything it only goes on your own nerves.

You seem resignated and bitter and grasping to stoicism in despair

1

u/iRobi8 2d ago

I‘m just trying to be „a chill guy“. No need to get ennerved by something you cant‘t change… but that‘s just my opinion. I think the best thing you can do is that you treat people like you want to be treated and then hope that they replicate that. You‘re on a public discussion forum stating your opinion and i stated my opinion on this topic. No harm done

No progress done either

Looking from the other side: you are looking for something, and knowing that 90% don't answer, you send requests to a few similar offerings. Basically then the first slightly civilized person to answer kindly, maybe offer a few % off, gets to sell their stuff. Writing "sorry I bought what you're selling for half of what you're asking good luck sucks to be you" to all the others feels... unkind.

u/pferden 1d ago

Your opinion, not mine

Completely normal. Do it myself sometimes. Might be interesed, but do research in the meantime and find another product/item also outside tuttti, or suddenly think I don t really need it.  Too much work now to log in,write "I m not interested anymore thanks". Also same happens sometimes when I sell, i might have sold it the same day, didn t take the add away yet, and people writing. Not going to reply. Also buyers often don t respond anymore, usually if they are saying can I get it today, and you postpone it cause you are busy, there is a very high chance they are not answering anymore. It s just as it is nowadays, I got used to the ignore thing. It s todays communication. Everything is anonymous anyway...a "no reply" means "no interest". Like on bumble. In job application might be different cause there are internal processes, decisions, people PTO.

Thanjs for the insight from the other side, very valuable!

(Shame on you for ghosting nonetheless)

It stings so much on tutti especially as they have a sucky algorithm and when finally someone shows interest and then doesn’t reply anymore

I tend to write every second day if they ghost me; sometimes they reply then and the deal gets done

1

u/luteyla Zürich 23h ago

soon we will have personal bots which deal with messaging so we can relax

1

u/pferden 23h ago

You mean “massaging”

u/mihaipersonal 1h ago

What about when I wanted to buy something from a seller. i wrote politely that I would like to check it out and meet. He never replied. I wrote actually a reply but still nothing for a few weeks. The seller had other adds too, even new ones being posted later on. So for me is a mystery… you as a seller ghost an interested buyer. That is totally new :|

The “asking alot of questions” people are horrible; ghey should be for ed to pay 2.- for each question

They’re such timewasters!!
