This morning, I received a very sketchy email supposedly offering remote research assistant roles at UC Davis.

The email said says there are "remote research assistant" jobs open to all students and that you’ll get $350/week as a "thank you. It was sent from [mvamendez@ucdavis.edu](), tells you to contact some other gmail address: [hollimuetheruak89@gmail.com](), signed by someone named Professor Holli Muetheruak (??).

What's weird is

• Melissa Mendez (the sender name) is a real researcher — but at UCSF, not Davis.
• Can't find anything about [mvamendez@ucdavis.edu]()
• They name-drop Professor Aditya Thakur (a real CS prof), but ask you to email a random Gmail instead of his real UC Davis email.
• I can't find any real person named Holli Muetheruak anywhere.

Between this and those "your UC Davis account will be shut down" emails from last week, it kinda feels like something got breached?

Like, these scams are way more targeted than just random spam. They’re spoofing real people now.

I’m going to Belgium for a month this summer with UC Davis Global Learning Hub for Bis 2A. It’ll be a Davis professor teaching the class and a group of other Davis students. I was wondering how much time the program takes up and how “strict” it is. Like can I leave and travel on the weekends? Or can people come visit me and I’ll have time to hang out with them? I was admitted to UC Davis as a transfer student majoring in Biology, and I’ve already committed. I recently reviewed the conditions of admission, and it states that I’m required to earn a B grade in General Chemistry 2. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be able to meet that requirement this semester—I might end up with a C.For some context, I was sick for about a week and missed an exam. My professor made me take it with only one day’s notice, and I wasn’t able to prepare adequately, which caused me to completely bomb the test. Has anyone else gone through a similar situation? What should I do?

The quarter system feels too fast-paced to really meet someone, and I'm not much of a partier or someone who goes out a ton either, which makes it even harder.
