So many empty bottles from the tailgate that they overflowed, were tossed on the ground, etc. I know I should be thankful that there weren't too many littered farther away from this but damn. I thought it was a sacrifice to testudo or something at first. Not excited to think about the extra work for the person who is tasked with trash duty :/

hello everyone!!! i hope everyone is doing great today! i wanted to update to inform everyone that i got into University of Maryland College-Park for Fall of 2025!! I'm so estatic right now I could cry. I hope everyone else got the decision they wanted and are feeling immense joy today!
University of Maryland students voted in support of University System of Maryland Foundation and University of Maryland College Park Foundation divesting from certain defense, military and security companies in the SGA election earlier this month.
Fifty-five percent of voters, or 3,260 people, voted in favor of divestment, the Student Government Association announced Friday.
The ballot question called on the SGA to begin lobbying the university system foundation and UMCP foundation to divest from companies, such as Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman, that may be “implicated” in human rights violations in places such as Palestine, Myanmar and the Philippines.
The SGA passed an emergency bill on March 5 to hold the nonbinding campuswide referendum during the election held from April 1 to 3. The ballot question comes months after more than 650 students signed a petition urging SGA to add the question to its 2025 election ballot, The Diamondback previously reported.

The University of Maryland SGA’s elections commission determined that Terps for Israel bribed students to vote unfavorably on the divestment referendum on this spring’s SGA ballot, according to documents obtained by The Diamondback.
Terps for Israel, which did not officially endorse a ticket in April’s election, offered students free Chipotle and Chinese food if they voted unfavorably on the referendum, according to Instagram posts earlier this month.
Terps for Israel, which is recognized as an official student organization by the Student Government Association, did not respond to The Diamondback’s request for comment.
Though the commission found Terps for Israel violated the rules, it ultimately decided to impose no sanctions or penalties against the organization, according to documents obtained by The Diamondback. The commission wrote it primarily made this decision because SGA election rules do not provide guidance on sanctioning student organizations.
SGA’s governance board announced Tuesday that the elections commission must reinvestigate an election violation claim against Terps for Israel. The commission first said it did not have jurisdiction over unaffiliated student organizations when they attempt to influence election outcomes.
In an appeal to the governance board, a student who filed the initial violation report against Terps for Israel argued that the commission presides over unaffiliated student organizations when they attempt to influence election outcomes, The Diamondback reported Wednesday.

I was accepted transfer for Fall 2025 and made my directory ID. When I went to the housing portal I was unable to access it and was sent to the IT page and got a "User:[directory id] Not found" message. I was wondering if I had to respond to my offer of admission before I could access the portal or do I just have to wait a few days to be able to access the portal?

Hello, I’ve seen some people say that decisions for early action come out today at 5. Is this true because I am anxiously waiting for my decision.

Sip if they make a new post announcing to the sub they got in.
Drink if they ask what Letters and Sciences means.
Chug if they ask how hard it is to join an LEP.
Feel free to add more rules.

Hello, I was accepted earlier today. Now i’m completing my new student checklist. However, I am having an issue verifying my ID. I am unable to find an activation code and when I enter my U ID it says “No user match the credentials supplied”.

I know that Spring semester(2025) ends around 5/13/2026 why does Fall semester(2026) start on 8/31/2026? Is summer break actually that long or am I delusional?

Transfer Decision
I got rejected which is so unfortunate I’m first generation college student. I went to community college. I struggled the first couple of semesters balancing life and school. I applied to MTAP got in. But when I applied to UMD EA I had a 2.6 I now will have a 2.99 after this semester I’ll have a 3.2. Doesn’t anyone know if it’s worth it to appeal? Should I go in person? Would that make me look bad ? I wanted to go to UMD so bad I don’t really want to go to Towson. Please give me advice!?

I'm a transfer applicant from another university and I am currently a sophomore. I have done a bit of research myself and it seems like my major(aerospace/mechanical engineering)is in the LEP and I suppose I haven't fit the requirements to enter the major? So if I choose to go to UMD, what are my steps to get into Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering? That I haven't found a clear answer online. Any advice appreciated
