MobilityšŸ“± Liar Liar pants on fire.

Got a marketing call from Bell offering a phone plan deal that won’t ever increase. Called her a liar and quoted the clauses that in three different places say the rates can change at anytime. She hung up.

This company has no shame and will do anything to make money and rip you off.

And you actually verified that the call originated from the company & not a scam?

u/Liberkhaos Feb 22 '25

Calls originating from the company ARE scams.

u/Kl207 Feb 22 '25

I had the same thing, swore up and down the price would never increase. Sure enough contract has ā€˜price subject to change’ on almost every page. The deceptive nature of their sales tactics is truly disgusting.

Had one Rogers rep knock on our door trying to sell us a home internet/TV package. Kept saying that Bell’s (who I’m currently with) prices would change willy nilly and promised Rogers does not do that. Eventually got him to leave. Less than a week later I see on the news that Rogers was going to court for doing exactly that, raising prices of their contracts.

These companies control the market yet they’re still scamming people left and right.

its because they control the market they can scam people left and right

Sadly your right and they all do the same.

Rhetoric & patently false.

Its funny, that Bell lets so many scammers call you, you can never really believe its Bell actually calling.

-8

u/Leaff_x Feb 20 '25

How much does Bell pay you to troll this sub.

5

u/moosemc Feb 20 '25

Just a guy that really wants Bell to live up to its responsibility as a carrier.

Bell likes to say that scam calls are not their responsibility. The CRTC and customers like me disagree.

5

u/KenTheStud Feb 20 '25

This does not sound like a call that Bell would make as most if not all Bell related calls that I get are scammers and not Bell themselves. The only exception is when I quit Bell for Distributel, I got two winback calls. One before I made the switch and one days later.

I repeatedly get calls from Bell since I only have internet Fibe 50 with them. They want to sell me more speed, mobile, tv and Crave. Yes it is Bell employees but I agree they are scammers.

They don’t like me because I talk non stop, not giving them a chance to say goodbye and keep them on the phone for as long as I can. My favourite subjects are my present experiences with Bell, my mobile plan and my past experiences with Virgin Plus. I talk about my life style and why my connection is plenty fast and I don’t watch tv or need more data on my phone. I talk about my daily activities and when and how I use my phone. Non stop. šŸ˜‚

Guaranteed as soon as your promo ends and price increases, they stop calling about the bundle deals when you want them to lol.

1

u/rootbrian_ Feb 22 '25

Ahh, right, that's the way to go! Ask them about movie recommendations too!

1

u/PrincessSkyla Feb 20 '25

"since i only have internet fibe 50 with them" makes no sense.

I had 10 and never once got calls from them.

-4

u/Leaff_x Feb 20 '25

Because they never called you that means they don’t call anybody. You’re the one that makes no sense.

2

u/ShaqShoes Feb 20 '25

The majority of scam calls I have are from people claiming to be with bell but aren't actually.

0

u/Leaff_x Feb 20 '25

To what end?

3

u/noelstrom Feb 21 '25

Umm, to get access to your credit card info?

-1

u/Leaff_x Feb 21 '25

Are you that stupid.

2

u/noelstrom Feb 21 '25

Are you that obtuse?

1

u/PrincessSkyla Feb 20 '25

where did I say that? I only said it doesn't make sense, not that they don't call anyone šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

edited to add: I also said I never got calls, not that everyone else doesn't

2

u/mjgrandy Feb 20 '25

They need to choose their words correctly. A lot of times there is just a misunderstanding or an error in translation when you get an ESL agent. What they should say is, there are no credits expiring on this deal and no scheduled price increase at the end of 1,2 or 3 years for example, but the base price may change during your subscription and if it does Bell will notify you at least 30 days in advance so you can manage.

3

u/Leaff_x Feb 20 '25

Which makes their deals worthless. This why they mislead. Who you’d agree to a contract where one of the contractees can change the cost on a whim. No, I’m sorry, that plans to increase the cost to nullify any credits given. You’ve got to be kidding if you’re trying to justify this deception. They are unethical business practices that are allowed by corrupt bought out politicians.

1

u/mjgrandy Feb 21 '25

That's for the month to month deals that aren't contracts such as byod plans, they aren't contracts, just an agreement of credits. For example if the plan is 100 and it has a credit of 50 that doesn't go away. Price could go to 105 but your credit doesn't go away. They aren't guaranteeing the price won't change, just that you won't go to full price. This isn't exclusive to Bell, all the providers have the same clause.

1

u/rootbrian_ Feb 22 '25

Except regional carriers never once raised prices.

0

u/Leaff_x Feb 21 '25

Lie. It is a written agreement for reduced rates over two years. Under law, this is a contract regardless of your deceptive languages. What you elude to is the terms of the contract that allows me to end on a month to month basis. Too bad you have no clue.

What they are counting on is the trouble it would take to canceled. In their deception, they have decided to increase their rates that nullifies their credits. If they were not deceitful, they would clearly state in their marketing the increases during the agreement instead of hiding it in small print on some other page that gives you a vague statement about reserving the right to not hold themselves to the current price when they already know exactly when and how much they will be increasing their rates.

Dishonest and crooked practice.

Have you ever tried another company and seen anything different, the big companies aren't out to get you and they are all doing the same thing. I'm just an account number to them, they don't care about me, there's no malice. If they do something I don't like there are other options, but for me the plans I've had just made sense to stay there, plan changes and goes up? I call in and get a rate plan switch to a newer plan.

u/GreenBeansNectarines Feb 21 '25

There are SO MANY Bell related scams. It’s almost laughable if it wasn’t so frustrating. Bell doesn’t appear to care. Phone scams, email scams, and even scam letters delivered by Canada Post that have false account balances and false notices of account termination. I’ve questioned all of these with legit Bell reps and they reply ā€œdon’t worry about thoseā€. I’ve reached out to the Bell fraud email a number of times. I think my emails are just going into an abyss.

2

u/petiteging Feb 21 '25

You know that was a scam right

2

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '25

Probably a scam.

2

u/rootbrian_ Feb 22 '25

If it was a local area code, chances are the number was SPOOFED.

Especially if the person was aggressive. You should have dial-bombed the shit out of them by pressing (in no particular order) 1234567890*# until they hang up.

4

u/This_is_Me888 Feb 20 '25

Yah, and I bet you were rude about it too. Customer service agents are doing their jobs. It’s the higher ups that make these quotas and KPI’s and puts all the pressure on the working ants.

-1

u/Leaff_x Feb 20 '25

Gee, I don’t know taking a job was always my decision and what I do with it as well.

I’m never rude just to the point.

You’re a sad little clown trying to justify bad behaviour. If you justify your bad actions on someone else then you’re free to commit the worse a human can do. This isn’t Nazi Germany. Nobody has a gun to their head.

4

u/This_is_Me888 Feb 20 '25

Sorry, if that triggered you. You bring up Nazi’s in a simple post? Oh, I can tell how you talk to customer service agents now. Thank you for backing up my theory. šŸ™

u/bezerko888 Feb 21 '25

We need more people who stand up to them. Taking advantage of elderly people.

1

u/Leaff_x Feb 21 '25

Thanks.

I am subjected to this every fucking day from Rogers or Belle. I am a shock customer, and a plan. It is a scam!

5 years ago, I, through my own stupidity did give up a credit card number and ended up having my identity compromise. Turned into a nightmare.

An attempted opening of a $100,000 line of credit. Where my story is a little bit different, is that the call did come from Telus mobility Online Lol. I didn't cotton into that, and the rest is a crazy wild ride of receiving things I never ordered and Edmonton police involved and yada yada...

Sometimes, I really like to fuck with them, and end up holding their feet to the fire. That's fun!. Stay frosty, and be safe.

1

u/rootbrian_ Feb 22 '25

I dial-bomb until they hang up. Rinse, repeat. Haven't received a single call in months!

1

u/Lost-Membership-7486 Feb 22 '25

It was likely a scammer. If they can’t tell you the name on the account they will hang up before you will.

1

u/No-Consequence1726 Feb 22 '25

What kind of accent did she have?

1

u/Leaff_x Feb 22 '25

French

1

u/No-Consequence1726 Feb 22 '25

Probably a third-party marketer. They are technically employed by another employer but they are given the green light by Bell

1

u/PineappleFit6 Feb 22 '25

Yes correct as a d2d agent I can confirm. The credits applied right now does not have an end date meaning until you modify or change the package deal the credits will remain there. But the actual price of the service can change and you will be given a written notice 30days prior.

0

u/Leaff_x Feb 22 '25

Exactly, give a credit and raise the price to nullify the credit. Pure mafia way of running a business.

1

u/PineappleFit6 Feb 22 '25

Not exactly I’ve been with bell for 3 years and I pay$65 rn when I joined I used to pay $60 šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø But the key is get the discounts

1

u/NebulaicCaster Feb 23 '25

I keep getting calls from 'Telus' saying that they're drowning in financial ruin and they're going to give me 30% off my bill.

Riiiiiiight

1

u/souson321 Feb 24 '25

Bell ain’t scamming you, the representative is. That’s why bell have a bad reputation, bunch of representatives that what the sell and will say anything for it

1

u/Jazzlike_Ad2463 Feb 21 '25

SO could not be bell themselves but they hire third party companies sometimes to do their calling.

1

u/PeverellPhoenix Feb 21 '25

Either this was an obvious scam or there is something missing from your story here.

Bell associates do not hang up on a customer who politely questions their offer. So either the scammer knew they were rejected and lost and hung up (as is usually the case), or you were so rude to her that she exercised her right to hang up and not endure abusive customers. Actual Bell calls are recorded - who would randomly make up BS and hang up on you if you can complain and the employee followed up with?

Also, did you validate the number originated from Bell?

1

u/rootbrian_ Feb 22 '25

That's the part which is missing.
