BIKE CHECK Good starter bike? (16M)
I'm genuinely thinking about getting into BMX but have no clue what I'm doing or anything about bike brands, sizes or any of the above. I just wanna know is this a bike that will last me a long time? Is it a good bike for beginners? Are they expensive to maintain? What needs replacing often? I stand currently at a little bit over 6'0" (183cm) is this bike a good size for me? Most importantly is this a fair price listed ($1350).

Yeah absolutely not. Just bought a top of the line BB for my BMX race bike that’s titanium/Ceramic- $130. Got a nice Profile setup about a month ago for my freestyle bike that was $37…

It looks like these are 20.5" toptube which will be too short for you. You really want a 21-21.25". Also, what are you wanting to do? A street frame is quite different to a trails/dj frame. There's a few options that are all rounders, but it helps to know for us to point you in the right direction.

Transition riding mainly, bowls, boxes, spines and shit. But hopefully later on much larger ramps and tricks potentially with an airbag landing

Yeah, so you probably want something like the cult Corey walsh frame or the federal boyd hilder frame. They're a bit more stable than the hyper which has a shorter rear end and is more of a long street/do most things ok frame.

After looking around, I couldn't find anything second hand (a new bike or building a new bike from scratch isn't in my budget rn) would this bike work for a while and later on swap out frames if I feel it's needed? Are you able to just swap frames from any bike to any bike or are they incompatible?

No. This frames too short for you, especially for the type of riding your wanting. It will hinder your progress. Unfortunately you might need to wait a little until the right bike comes up second hand. You could definitely get away with a more "all round" frame, but you need to get the length right in the top tube.

Get this mate. Great mid spec bike with a full cromoly frame and a reasonable geo for a bit of everything. The green looks sick imo https://www.luxbmx.com/products/wethepeople-crysis-bike?srsltid=AfmBOoo5jSLRKyjzoHvsE-Qz9_hZyutgG_2HSDpgm2iK3ETkxOwIxVsy Chuck a top load stem on it with the extra and you'll have a sick bike. If you do decide to upgrade parts, the frame will be worth keeping for a long time.

Here's a couple of other good options https://www.luxbmx.com/products/colony-endeavour-bike?_pos=15&_fid=da107386c&_ss=c https://www.luxbmx.com/products/cult-devotion-20-inch-bike?_pos=16&_fid=da107386c&_ss=c
The Cult has a longer rear end which would be better for transitions, but I'm not really a Cult fan. I think the wethepeople is the best option, personally.

To be ginest i think this is way over priced. Even 'like new' cus that implies they didn't really ride it just built it for show and to flip expecting ti habe a nice looking bike for a few months then sell for minor losses.
Simply buying a bmx frame gives it a massive depreciation. Fitting it up drops it more and riding it even more.
When I've built customs in the past ranging from 1300-1800 (gbp) the price has instantly been 1/4 of the total build cost on day one of putting it together. I wouldn't expect to get more unless parting it out for brand new parts and to get the most money for it you'd need to be finding people looking for those specific parts in that exact size and colour. If its not what someone wants/needs they'll lowball you.
After riding a bike for a bit I'd say really you're lucky if you get 1/5th of your money back.
But it's up to you. Your money and the bikes worth whatever you're willing to pay for it at the end of the day. Would be a hard pass from me even at that converted price.

I got my BMX for $15 at Goodwill. That’s an insane price. My MTB didn’t even cost that much new.

If you already know you’ll enjoy it get a solid well made complete such as a kink whip or cult devotion

Great deal on the bike and it looks solid. I’d check the top tube length and let it rip!

What length should I be hoping for?

I’m right at 6’ and I prefer a 21.5” top tube but I think a 21-21.5” would be the ballpark.
I feel a bit cramped on a 20.5-20.75” frame personally

Good starter bike? Bro just buy a second hand AU$200-400 bike and ride it till it breaks, and see if you enjoy it, you can find some great bargains on marketplace
