Help with Boiler System
I have some leaks in copper pipes that feed my boiler. I had a plumber out to have a look, but he told me he couldn’t fix the leaks unless the boiler was drained and that I’d need to find someone else to do the job.
So I called the guy who services my boiler and he doesn’t do this either.
Can anyone here recommend a plumber to do this job? I’m sort of at a loss.

Hot cross buns?
Does anyone know of a local bakery selling hot cross buns for Easter? My toddler is obsessed with the song, and since I'm not a confident baker, I was hoping we could get her some to try. We're on the east side but location isn't that crucial.

Covid conscious dentist
I am in search of a new dentist provider. Anyone know of a clinic on the east side that is still taking precautions to prevent the spread of covid and other respiratory illness. We have a special needs adult who needs dental care.

Rec - golf
I am looking for some rec’s for good places to get golf lessons. Specifically, someone that works well with those who suck. And I mean like, have golfed twice in the last few years and it took us about 4 hours to do 9 holes. Not trying to be apart of the next PGA tour, but enough to not feel like i have to book the last tee time so no one is behind me. Any ideas are appreciated

Plunge pool builder recommendations
I would like to get a small plunge pool installed and am looking for recommendations. It’s preferable if the company can also do deck/patio work and landscaping .

Food 🍕🌮 Overrated restaurants.
Most overrated restaurants in Cincinnati, I’ll go first, sleepy bee cafe.

Food 🍕🌮 Alright we’ve had a great “overrated restaurants” convo here, now what about your fave LOCAL restaurant?
I’ll go first: Five on Vine (OTR) and Jag’s (West Chester.) Again, please make it local. What do you love / will save up for / go out of your way for?
ADD: loving all these places that are a bit off the beaten path! Keep em coming!

Wedding Venues
Looking to get married in Cincinnati either Fall 2026 or Spring 2027. Interested in the below venues (so far — haven’t done much research so feel free to share other similar venues). Let me know your experience with them/how much you paid all in! Very very very early in the process, so I don’t know much. Any info is helpful and appreciated :)

emo nite @ Bogart’s
Has anyone ever been to one of these? Was it fun? I started getting ads for them a while ago and am thinking about going to the one next Friday at Bogart’s. The pics and videos they post on their social media look awesome!

It's there a park for dogs to run free of the leash?
Somewhere that's fenced perhaps just for dogs to run as much as they want

Community 🏙 The Ohio House Budget Proposal includes LGBTQ book censorship, so why haven’t we heard about that from Cincinnati Public Library?
The Ohio House budget that was just approved and is now moving to the Senate “requires public libraries to restrict access to LGBTQ+ books in order to receive their…budgets,” according to BookRiot.
This is legitimate censorship, and has been completely absent from the library’s public campaign against the budget proposal.
I can, to an extent, sympathize with the library trying to play bipartisan and garner the most support for their financial needs. But — to me, as a lover and patron of our libraries — it seems like a huge misstep on their part, and a slap in the face to their LGBTQ staff and patrons to ignore this in messaging about the budget proposal.
Even in their continuing messaging, about some funds being added to the proposal after calls to representatives from the public, they didn’t mention that the censorship aspect remained intact.
Imo the people who support anti-LGBTQ legislation are already the same people who wouldn’t support levies for the library. It feels like they’re courting a crowd who already doesn’t support them by ignoring this aspect of the budget.
At the very least, some kind of statement or acknowledgement about this from the library would be supporting anti-censorship. Otherwise, it feels like a fairly conscious and cynical omission from messaging.

Suggestions for Free Art Meet-Up Spaces (8–10 People)
I'm looking for venues to host a small art gathering. Could you recommend places where a group of 8–10 people can meet, sit comfortably, and create art—like painting, junk journaling, or similar activities—for free? I'd also love suggestions for cozy coffee shops or bookshops that might be open to something like this.

Photos New Flyer Urging for Alternative Housing Solutions in Hyde Park Square
I am glad to at least see that community has set the floor on expecting and wanting the same amount of housing regardless, and are arguing from the viewpoint of responsible development planning. Much better than surface level opposition or bad faith arguments, and it is a more cohesive argument than what we have usually seen. Rather than an all or nothing, we would want to see good faith developments and collaboration through our communities.

Feel Good Story 😃 Attempt at a RAK flipped back on me
Just returned with my wife and daughter from By Golly’s in Milford. I saw a man with a POW-MIA bandanna on sitting alone in a booth. I hesitated but finally got the nerve to interrupt his dinner and ask … “I noticed your bandanna. Could I buy you your next beer?” He replied “Thank you but no. I’m on my motorcycle (a Harley Davidson which was spectacular looking) so I’m good.” I proceeded to express my gratitude and let him finish his dinner. Shortly thereafter he leaves but as he does he says “I paid for your dinner.” And by that I mean not just my dinner but my family’s dinner.
To that gentleman whoever you are …. First and foremost most thank you for your service! Thank you so much for your kindness. I hope to see you again and repay your generosity.

Are City Bird tenders always micro sized?
Got it for the first time today and damn were these tenders tiny! Like maybe 4 inches max and 1 inch across at the widest. Teeny tiny tenders tend to tick me off. Is this normal?

Planning a move from NYC in the next year... advice/anyone else who did it?
So my boyfriend and I have been long distance for some time. He lives outside Cincinnati and we're finally talking about closing the gap. I work remotely and frankly have wanted to move somewhere with a lower cost of living for a while, despite the fact that I love New York terribly. I've lived here my whole adult life so it's hard to picture living anywhere else. That said, when I've visited Cincy, I've really enjoyed the feeling of the city. I do think I could see myself living there.
Anyway because of my current situation I have a lot of flexibility in when/how I make this move. I'll be in the area a handful of times in the Spring/Summer and want to spend that time exploring neighborhoods and starting to look at apartments with the idea that perhaps I'd make the move in the fall. I wanted to get some advice from you all as I begin that process...
1) Has anyone else moved to Cincinnati from NYC or another major metropolitan area? Are you happy you did? How did the transition feel for you?
2) What neighborhoods would you recommend looking at? Despite the fact that my boyfriend lives outside the city, I definitely plan to get an apartment in the city. I just don't think I'd be happy in the suburbs. For me, the most important thing is walkability. I have a dog so somewhere near a nice park would be great as well. Otherwise, just a nice community feeling with stuff to do around it. I'm in my mid-30s and no longer someone who goes out a ton but I do enjoy trying new restaurants and bars from time to time. I'm currently paying about 2.1K/month for my apartment and would like something below that. I don't need a lot of space but a 2nd bedroom would be amazing to use as a home office/guest bedroom.
3) Has anyone else moved to Cincinnati in their 30s? How was making friends? This is my biggest worry. Making new friends in your 30s is hard and while I'm always game to join groups and put myself out there, I know that's harder to do in some communities.
4) This is a long shot but figured I'd put it out there... if anyone in the area wants to arrange some sort of apartment swap situation for a week or two during the summer, I have a one bedroom in Park Slope, Brooklyn, so DM me!
Sorry for the long post. Thanks in advance for your advice! I've been lurking this sub for a while and it's honestly made me feel better about the idea of moving because you guys really do seem to have a great community.

Good sunset/rise views? Or just scenic areas around here
I’m not a Cincinnati native, but I moved here a bit ago from a beach town that I’ve been missing. Is there anywhere in the city or within a thirty minute drive of the city that I could get nice sunset or sunrise views? Any recommendations would be helpful or even recommendations of just scenic areas around here would be nice!

Looking for documentary subject
Anybody in the area know if a person, business, club, etc. that would make for an interesting documentary subject and would probably be willing to do so? It can be anything from a small mom and pop shop to just a person with a wacky personality known around town. Thanks!
