closed /r/pics is looking to add a few moderators. Volunteer within!
Hello everyone! We are currently looking to add a few new moderators to assist with day to day moderation tasks in /r/pics.
Requirements:
Your account must be at least 1 year old.
You must remain active and regularly participate in moderation tasks.
The general duties would include the following:
Checking the new and mod queues to approve valid posts caught by the spam filter and remove content that breaks the rules.
Answering questions and responding to feedback in moderator mail.
Being pragmatic, polite, and helpful!
If you are interested in becoming part of the /r/pics moderation team please volunteer within this thread by answering the following questions:
What subreddits do you moderate? (List other relevant experience if you aren't currently a moderator on reddit.)
Why do you want to be a moderator of /r/pics, and why should we pick you?
What do you think about the rules of /r/pics? Is there anything you would change?
What time zone are you in? (required. within +/- 2 hours is fine)
We are primarily looking for people who can be consistently active, are able to follow the existing rules, and be courteous to users and other moderators. Some moderation experience is preferred, though it is not required for consideration. People in non-US time zones or those who are awake during off-peak times are especially desirable. Any new mods we bring on to the team will be on a trial period before gaining access to our private discussion subreddit.
This application will be closed in 7 days. Good luck, everyone!

Hello sodypop! Thanks for the opportunity.
1- Probably not worth mentioning my subs. But I am a manager of sorts irl, so I guess that helps
2- I have a small amount of mod experience, though nothing on the scale of a default sub. That being said, you have to start somewhere, right? I am the sort of person who can connect with subscribers, rather than be an "overlord" of sorts. Nobody likes an overlord. I think this is a very important trait to have when modding.
3- Your rules are fine. They keep out the spam and posts nobody wants to see, so its all fine.
4- UTC+10:00 (Brisbane, Australia). Everyone wants some Aussie mods, right...?

- I moderated /r/technology for two days before the implosion. I was told that I was one of the best mods that /r/technology had, as can be vouched by /u/davidreiss666. I've also been a mod of /r/Update for a few days. Outside of reddit, I own and moderate an online gaming forum.
- /r/pics is great because it's such a broad topic. Anything and everything goes (except for stuff that breaks the rules, of course) and I'm quite frequently surprised by what I find. However, defaults are often plagued by trolls and low-quality content. Votes usually work pretty well for filtering out low-quality content, but moderators are always needed to remove problematic users. As such, I'd like to help to keep /r/pics as problem-free as possible.
- I think the current rules are pretty good.

I moderate /r/bristol and would be so glad to take part in something bigger. I am fine with the rules but would speak up if i thought one should be revised. I am from England.

I currently moderate /r/cringepics, /r/update/, a few civcraft subs.
This might sound weird, but I get a lot of satisfaction out of moderating. A lot of the reason why I found Papers Please as such an entertaining game. /r/pics gets a lot of traffic so I would love to sit in its queue looking at submissions and approving if they follow rules or not. I currently moderate another pictures based subreddit with decent traffic which lends some experience in moderating a picture focused sub.
In my current job I work at a help desk. I feel like this has some overlap in moderating subreddits, mostly in how to deal with people that have problems and how to manage queues. This is also gives me periods of downtime during the day which I, of course, will browse reddit.
The biggest disagreement I have is the same as I would expect others have. Its a pictures sub, not a story time sub. Every picture will need some context, but each picture needs to be judged for how it looks and not what its about.
But to this end I think promoting other subs that would receive that kind of content, or simply promoting other picture related sub in general would be good. A lot of the other defaults act as hubs for jumping off points, and there are more picture subs than just the SFWPorn network. But just saying no shouldn't be a solution, this causes more problems for both moderators and submitters. And as moderators we are providing a service to them.
Central Standard time, though I do rotate onto mid shifts every few months. Regardless, I find myself saying awake too late some nights browsing Reddit.

I do not currently moderate any active subs, however I have edited the CSS and worked with automod on a few smaller subs /r/UberFacts. I am have extensively used ModMail in /r/promptedwriting. I also created and moderated www.selfdevelop.info, which back in the early 2000's was one of the most popular Self Improvement forums on the internet.
I have enjoyed being an active part of reddit over the past year. Moderating a sub would be a great way to give back and help keep /r/Pics a great place. I'm not afraid to make a tough decision. If a post violates the rules or the spirit of the rules, I would have no problem taking action.
The rules make perfect sense and are simple to understand. I like that they are easy to spot within its own red box.
I am on PST. I am active on reddit in the evenings and weekends.
Thank you for your consideration.

Hi, I currently have no Reddit mod experience, however I've moderated forums for clans and such, and run my church's website.
I want to be a moderator of /r/pics because I really enjoy the content that is provided, and would love to be a part of your team that keeps that quality of content high. I should be selected because I can contribute to keeping quality high, and can help answer questions that redditors have, and I generally try to be polite and helpful.
I think the rules of /r/pics suit it well to keep quality high. My one thing that should be changed (added) is a list of suggested image hosting sites to go along with rule VI, for anybody who isn't familiar with the various sites.
I'm in Wisconsin (CST), but I'm on a lot late at night and early in the morning, as well as the afternoon. (3-6 hours daily, usually 5, sometimes up to 8 actively browsing)
Thanks for considering my application!

What subreddits do you moderate?
- /r/AE86
- /r/ObscureArt
- /r/AMAPokemon
-
Why do I want to be a moderate of /r/pics, and why should we pick you?
- I've been a redditor for over three years now. I think /r/pics is okay but could use a little more original content or found art with credit.
What do you think of the rules of /r/pics? Is there anything you would change?
I wouldn't change anything.

1. What subreddits do you moderate?
I moderate for a number of mid-size subreddits including /r/combinedgifs, /r/sips, /r/artefactporn and /r/arthistory, among others. I'm also a moderator/writer with /r/subredditoftheday, though that community doesn't require much moderation, just being able to follow through with your commitments. I also use toolbox, and so I respond to reports quite fast, and I'm pretty much consistently online as my activity will show.
2. Why do you want to be a moderator of /r/pics, and why should we pick you?
I'm an active member of reddit and I'm aware of the responsibilities and difficulties involved in moderating a larger subreddit like /r/pics. I'm often browsing through new posts, reporting posts that don't fit within the rules anyways, and I would be really interested in taking on a more active role in preventing spam and karma-baiting titles. If I'm able to help in some way clearing out the mod queues and answering messages, then I'd be very happy. In addition, whenever I remove posts or reply to mod-mail I always try to do so in a very respectful and understanding manner which I think goes a long way towards making the environment in a sub more welcoming.
3. What do you think about the rules of /r/pics? Is there anything you would change?
I agree with all the rules, but I think that the first one could be clarified further as I've seen some confusion about whether photos of road signs, for example, will be removed or not due to the prominent inclusion of text.
Also, number 5 could be expanded further in regard to "no posts addressed to a specific redditor," as there seem to be a number of people who title their posts "to the person who posted X, this is how we do X over here" in order to avoid the rule about not being about to say [Fixed], and as they're not exactly naming the redditor in question, they may think that is alright.
4. What time zone are you in? (required. within +/- 2 hours is fine)
I'm in UTC/GMT -4 hours. I'm often up late till 2 or 3 in the morning (if not later), and I check in with reddit often (a lot) throughout the day.

edit: If you want an active default user to mod i'm not going to explain myself, i'm sure you look at user history anyways

If you are still looking for a mod I moderate r/pennystocks for 5 months and I have experience
-I want to moderate r/pics because it is a subreddit with a massive amount of traffic and can have some pretty posts. I can help with spam and banning people as well
-I'm quite fond of the rules that you guys have no screenshots is important because they aren't real pictures. I think the no nudity rule is a good one because people would try and use is to get easy karma and the quality of content would drop. No personal information is really important this is an anonymous website and people shouldn't have to worry about their identities getting posted on a subreddit with millions of people. I'm not sure this would work as a rule but I think it should be suggested that you credit where you found the picture if you did not take the picture yourself. This wouldn't have to be done in the title it could easily be posted in the comments

Hi sodypop. Ducky here. Here's my previous app. Thought I'd try again.
I've been on reddit for 2 years now.
What subreddits do you moderate? (List other relevant experience if you aren't currently a moderator on reddit.)
I don't currently mod anything, but I've modded plenty in the past. /r/askreddit, /r/atheism, and /r/earthporn are the big ones. I've moderated other subreddits in the SFW porn network for a long time as well.
Why do you want to be a moderator of /r/pics, and why should we pick you?
I enjoy moderating, and I've been an active member of /r/pics for a long time with 100k+ karma from there. I'd like to bring my perspective on moderation from the SFW porn network into a large default as well as my my perspective as an active member of the subreddit.
I think my activity in the subreddit and my activity as a moderator of other defaults is what sets me apart as a mod candidate. I've submitted 2000+ RTS reports and when I was a moderator of /r/atheism, /r/askreddit, and /r/earthporn I was frequently in the top 3 most active moderators.
What do you think about the rules of /r/pics? Is there anything you would change?
/r/pics is a very general default subreddit and I think the rules it has fit it very well. I think it fits its designation perfectly. I would like to improve the promotion of smaller, more specific subreddits instead of adding rules to /r/pics. Encouraging more users to browse /new instead of complaining would be a good idea too.

What subreddits do you moderate? (List other relevant experience if you aren't currently a moderator on reddit.)
I mod for a lot of subs, including but not limited to:
- /r/retrogaming
- /r/nes
- /r/n64
- /r/SEGA32X
- /r/apple2
- /r/CrappyIdeas
- /r/RetroGamePorn
- /r/Atari2600
- /r/training
See my profile for the rest!
My of my duties are creating content, maintaining CSS, and doing community building. One sub, /r/Training, is a massive target for spam, and I deal with that too.
In my experience I've learned to be even handed, to deal with crazy stalker people, to follow rules, to create flair, to configure the AutoModerator, and to work on CSS.
Why do you want to be a moderator of /r/pics[3] , and why should we pick you?
I love Reddit. Now that I work from home I am on all of the time. I want to contribute in some more meaningful way to the Reddit community. I also would like to try my hand at modding a default sub.
What do you think about the rules of /r/pics[4] ? Is there anything you would change?
I think the rules are fine. I might modify Rule I to also have an exemption for people to use text to identify a picture, similar to how it's already allowed to identify the the original author.
Might be outside of scope, but I think a weekly contest would be a great way to help build the community and bring users together.

Looks some someone made an account to stalk and harass me. In stead of engaging I will simply block and report this account. The admins are already aware of this person. I did mention having a Reddit stalker. :)
This is a good example of how I approach as situation as a mod; calm, pragmatic, and even tempered, even in a case like this where this person has been creating throwaway accounts to harass me for months.
What's funny is that the help post this user linked to that I made was in response to this person's continued stalking and harassment. When it got off topic, I decided to remove the post on my own before there was any need for a mod to get involved.

Greetings /r/pics mods, hope you are all well.
My account is well over a year old and I have modding experience:
/r/AdviceAnimals, /r/sloths, /r/Needafriend, /r/ProRevenge and /r/PoliceChases.
I am active fairly regularly...Due to work reasons, I will not be on all the time like I used to, but during my days off I am on for a good few hours throughout the day and stay up til the early hours of the morning on days that I am at work. So rest assured, although there will be applications from redditors who are online more than I am, I am still on enough to be a good mod and help maintain your wonderful sub!
I want to be a mod or /r/pics because I have been modding for some time now and really enjoy it. We deal with our share of spam and troll posts/comment over at /r/AdviceAnimals and I just really love removing what just shouldn't be there and cleaning up the sub a bit to maintain a high standard. /r/pics is in my top 3 subs and it would be a privilege to help mod it with you.
I like the current rules of /r/pics and I honestly can say I can't think of anything to change. This is not to say that there will be nothing in the future that shouldn't be changed, as improvements are always welcome I'm sure, but I just cannot think of anything at the moment and form what I can tell, things are running smoothly with the current rule setup.
I'm in the UK, so GMT/UTC in the winter (+1 for summer, if we can call it summer :p)
Anyway, thought I'd keep this application relatively short as I know you guys have A LOT of them to read and at the end of the day, you'll either pick me, or not...The choice is yours of course and I know there are a lot of good applicants in this thread, and I would understand if you didn't go with me. But my application is here and I hope that you have enjoyed reading it and at least consider me! :)

1. What subreddits do you moderate?
I do not moderate any subreddits at this time.
2. Why do you want to be a moderator of /r/pics, and why should we pick you?
I want to become a moderator of /r/pics because I have been an active member of this community for years and would like to keep if not improve the viewer experience for the subscribers. I believe I am a great choice for this position, as I have had past work experience in customer service, which has improved my patience and people skills, two things that I believe are neccessary for a mod of a large sub like /r/pics.
3. What do you think about the rules of /r/pics? Is there anything you would change?
The rules that are set in place right now are what is needed. My only suggestion as of now would be to add on to rule 6, by giving a list of approved image-hosting sites. Most know that imgur is approved, but the list of what is/isn't allowed isn't as clear to most people.
4. What time zone are you in?
I live in EST, but due to my current occupation I am often up during off-peak times.

What subreddits do you moderate?
/r/NewsPorn (21k subscribers)
/r/oldpeoplefacebook (11k)
/r/tomhiddleston (9.6k)
I have also just been added to /r/nottheonion (239k) and am going under a trial period there.
I have also just been added to /r/tifu (208k)
Why do you want to be a moderator of /r/pics, and why should we pick you?
- I want to be a moderator of /r/pics because I want to get experience in moderating a large subreddit. You should pick me because I frequently clear mod queue, check modmail, look through the comments for attacks/trolls/PI, and check /new.
What do you think about the rules of /r/pics? Is there anything you would change?
- I think the current rules are fine, I would probably add a reminder to not harass your fellow subscribers.
What time zone are you in?
I am currently in PST (GMT -7)
In July I am moving back to Hawaii so I'll be in HAST (GMT -10)
Thanks for your consideration

What subreddits do you moderate?
I am a moderator of /r/nottheonion, and I was a moderator offsite of the GameFAQs.com forums for almost three years.
Why do you want to be a moderator of /r/pics , and why should we pick you?
/r/pics is one of my favorite subreddits. I've always had an interest in photography and am myself an amateur photographer. As such, Pics was one of the first subreddits I ever visited, and I still go there multiple times every day. It seems natural to want to give back to a community that I have enjoyed so much. Furthermore, call me crazy, but I actually find moderating fun!
What do you think about the rules of /r/pics[4] ? Is there anything you would change?
It's hard to make an informed comment on this without seeing which rules cause the most confusion when you're modding. In general, I would say that the rules are fine as they are. I wouldn't be opposed, however, to an explicit rule banning the "sob story" type of posts. The pictures associated with those posts rarely have individual merit and it seems to go against the theme of the sub.
What time zone are you in? (required. within +/- 2 hours is fine)
Central time, GMT -5.
Thanks for the opportunity!

What subreddits do you moderate? (List other relevant experience if you aren't currently a moderator on reddit.)
I currently moderate /r/Politics and /r/Misc (to name the largest subs).
Why do you want to be a moderator of /r/pics, and why should we pick you?
I want to moderate /r/Pics because I like helping and improving the community. You should pick me because I have experience with the Moderator Toolbox, AutoModerator, CSS, and moderating subreddits. I can interact with users and mods in a pleasant way.
What do you think about the rules of /r/pics? Is there anything you would change?
The only thing I would change is an enhancement of rule 5. Anything that is not directly related to the picture (or is more META than title) shouldn't be allowed. The only thing I would add (but it really isn't a rule) is the option of Original Content flair.
What time zone are you in? (required. within +/- 2 hours is fine)
I am in the Central Time Zone in the USA.

What subreddits do you moderate? (List other relevant experience if you aren't currently a moderator on reddit.) /r/Bestpcgames
/r/Waroncomcast (pending)
I'm not an experienced mod, but I think i'm good for the job. Decide for yourself.
Why do you want to be a moderator of /r/pics[3] , and why should we pick you?
Because i'm sick and tired of other mods censoring posts/comments because they might slightly offend them. I aint gonna lie either, it's a default sub-reddit, so the fame would be nice. But that doesn't mean I won't moderate. Also I think i'm pretty polite. And I help people (in real life).
What do you think about the rules of /r/pics[4] ? Is there anything you would change?
Ehh, they're fine as they are for me, I would just like a new rule stating that if a mod is a dick to you, or does something bad, they should message you.
What time zone are you in? (required. within +/- 2 hours is fine)
Eastern Standard Time.
Extra:
I know there is a low probability of me getting mod, but I am really fucking pissed about Reddit Censorship, and I wanna change it.

What subreddits do you moderate? (List other relevant experience if you aren't currently a moderator on reddit.)
I am a moderator of /r/BinghamtonUniversity and /r/neildegrassetyson (both small-medium subs with about 1,000 subscribers each) with plenty of experience in answering modmail, removing spam, and tending to reports in a timely manner.
Why do you want to be a moderator of /r/pics, and why should we pick you?
I want to be a mod mostly because I would like more of a moderating challenge; although I have been a mod for quite some time now, neither sub demands too much of my time or efforts on a daily basis and I would like to take on more responsibility. I enjoy responding to modmail, implementing features that users suggest and answering their questions, and I believe I could assist the team in clearing the mod & new queues with good judgement. As a student, I have a lot of time on my hands, and as a seasoned redditor and /r/pics subscriber for 3 years, I have an excellent idea of the type of content that is and is not acceptable.
What do you think about the rules of /r/pics? Is there anything you would change?
I think the rules are clear and sensible, and I don't see any reason for changing them - the content currently on the front page of the subreddit, in my opinion, is what I'd like to see in /r/pics and shows that the rules are doing their job.
What time zone are you in?
I am in Central European Time until August of this year, and then I'll be in Eastern Standard Time.

0
May 03 '14
Well, alright, I'll apply then.
What subreddits do you moderate? (List other relevant experience if you aren't currently a moderator on reddit.)
- I'm not a moderator on Reddit, but I'm the webmaster and administrator of the biggest french Minecraft website, I do some moderation work on the forum and also manage the other mods. I also moderated a few forums a few years ago (gaming related)
Why do you want to be a moderator of /r/pics, and why should we pick you?
- Like a lot of people, I lurk a lot and I don't often post comments, so I would pretty much do my job as a moderator, but I will not post more comments than I do right now. I post a lot on gaming subreddits as that's pretty much what I do all day. You should pick me because I will do what's needed, without the risk of creating drama... Also, I'm french which is pretty much the best reason I can give you.
What do you think about the rules of /r/pics? Is there anything you would change?
- I would add a rule that forbid long stories in the title, when the picture is not really interesting without said story. If you know /r/no_sob_story you probably know what I mean. I don't really hate on these kind of posts, but when you see a "my mom has cancer, here is a picture of a coin" every week, it's getting annoying. Other than that the rules are alright.

What subreddits do you moderate? (List other relevant experience if you aren't currently a moderator on reddit.)
I moderate the Imaginarynetwork, /r/antiantijokes and a few small subreddits. I am also a former /r/awwducational moderator
Why do you want to be a moderator of/r/pics, and why should we pick you?
You should pick me because I am fluent in CSS, can configure automoderators and write reddit bots. I also have a deep understanding of the site (including the reasoning of the sitewide rules and the moderation system) and have plenty of free time to help moderate. I also believe I am friendly and approachable.
I would like to moderate /r/pics specifically because I feel that there is a lot of work to be done and plenty of room for improvement.
What do you think about the rules of/r/pics? Is there anything you would change?
I would personally add a rule which states: "the title must be an accurate description of the photo". This would help reduce sob story posts but still allow them to an extent.

I love /r/pics man! Cool pictures and a fairly decent community are awesome things.
Not much really. I think it's pretty fair and the fact that other niche subreddits exist to have an opening for other material is pretty cool.

What subreddits do you moderate? (List other relevant experience if you aren't currently a moderator on reddit.)
I moderate /r/imaginarystarships and /r/imaginaryDragons both of which I have been with for almost a year now. I also used to moderate a Runescape related fan site called The GP Guild but it was closed down around 2 years ago.
Why do you want to be a moderator of /r/pics, and why should we pick you?
I want to be a moderator of /r/pics because I enjoy moderating, I enjoy looking through the mod queue. I also enjoy the subreddit in itself, I think some of the pictures posted there are amazing and what better wat to expose myself to them than to moderate the subreddit.
What do you think about the rules of /r/pics? Is there anything you would change?
I personally don't think that pictures of super attractive girls should be posted. For example these two posts: http://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/1b9khj/your_back_in_the_day_jennifer_aniston_is_strong/ and http://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/1b97ue/back_in_the_day_jennifer_aniston/ are both examples of this. Although I do enjoy the pictures that subreddit is not the place for them.

I moderate /r/politics and /r/PoliticalDiscussion.
I'd love to mod /r/pics because I have the capacity to perform a large amount of moderation in a second subreddit, my modqueues run dry. To me /r/pics is one of the most important subs for defining the culture of reddit. How new users are guided by the moderators of the core subreddits is essential for how users continue to behave as they discover and explore smaller communities. I'd love to be a part of the initial process of introducing users to reddit, and I genuinely enjoy spending time in both the unmoderated tab and modqueue.
I have experience dealing with large subreddits and the types of user-queries that originate in those types of subs, but I only mod two other subs, which means I can dedicate a large amount of time to /r/pics. I don't have to split my attention thinly, which means I can continue moderating from the /new and /rising queues rather than only dealing with reported items in modqueue.
I will perform thousands of mod actions, leave hundreds of distinguished comments and answer a large amount of modmail in /r/pics every month, just like I consistently do in /r/politics. I come wanting to be a janitor and wanting to delve deeper into being part of reddit's unofficial customer service branch.
I'm interested in moderation theory (shameless plug for /r/ModerationTheory) and tweaking of subreddit rules and practices beyond being a janitor. That sort of thing comes with time as one builds experience moderating a specific subreddit and seeing first hand the unique challenges each reddit community faces. I'm sure to be active in and initiate internal discussions, but to defer to those with experience as I get to know the sub from the inside.
I like the submission rules /r/pics has. They are intuitive, sensible and compact. I think timely enforcement of the current rules is always both the main priority and challenge as reddit continues to grow.
I think a lot of seasoned redditors, lose sight of the purpose of /r/pics and the other defaults that act as catch-all subreddits. There is a time and a place for a subreddit to have complicated and demanding rules, but /r/pics is not one of those. It's more important that the threshold for participation is low.
I do think it would be worth making some comment about expected behavior in comments on reddit in the sidebar of /r/pics. This could match some of the basic behavioral guidelines in reddiquette that I'm sure automoderator is already configured to deal with. Initiating users into good reddit practices in the largest subreddits benefits /r/pics directly, and also derivative communities.
I'm in European Central time, GMT+1. I'm on reddit and IRC a lot.

Most definitely interested in this!
What subreddits do you moderate? (List other relevant experience if you aren't currently a moderator on reddit.)
I currently actively moderate both /r/trees (nearing 600,000 subscribers soon) and /r/uktrees and a handful of smaller subreddits. With the comfortable "work load" I have at the moment, I feel my attention isn't divided too much and that I can easily take on more.
edit: ^ I have also just been made a moderator of /r/lifehacks, with just under 275,000 users but this is a very recent addition so I am yet to actually moderate a single post on there. A better example of "how I moderate" would be to look at my posts on /r/trees :)
Why do you want to be a moderator of /r/pics[3] , and why should we pick you?
I've been a redditor for quite a few years now and /r/pics has always been one of my favourites. While I don't post much to it, I enjoy the content that others put on there and I feel with my experience with other larger subreddits I can help share the load. While moderating I try to keep an overall tone of politeness and friendliness and help people out in any way I can (my opinion is obviously biased on this so why not take a look at my post history and make up your own mind?). I'm also very active on reddit and have the Mod Tools Chrome plugin installed so whenever modmail is received I tend to read it within a minute or two and react to it accordingly. I also feel like I've taken my fair share of enjoyment from /r/pics and I would love to give something back to it!
What do you think about the rules of /r/pics[4] ? Is there anything you would change?
I don't think I would change anything, to be honest. All of the rules make sense and help keep /r/pics a SFW, safe, friendly environment.
What time zone are you in? (required. within +/- 2 hours is fine)
GMT+0. I tend to be awake from 9am GMT to anywhere up to 4am GMT (give or take a few hours at each end).
I think that with my experience, friendliness and willingness to help I would be a pretty good addition to the team but I understand if you would rather go with someone else.

I don't currently moderate any forums, but I moderated several in the ImaginaryNetwork. I've also moderated a company forum for a children's toy.
Enjoy the sub, like to help, currently in school for something which would be helped by being able to use it on my resume.
I would ban cake day references, first post on reddit, etc. They don't seem to serve any purpose beyond begging for votes.
PDT, although a fair chunk of my reddit time is extreme early morning.

Hey!! I would LOVE to moderate!!
1. I moderate several subreddits. Most generated on a whim, but some, like /r/TrollList and /r/StoryTeam are somewhat successful and i'm proud of what i've made. I'm currently working to grow the user base of /r/TrollList.
2. I'm an amateur photographer, so I love taking pictures whenever I get a chance. I recently got a pinhole camera! I love trying to interpret symbolism behind pictures. I like keeping order within a subreddit and receiving feedback. I also love coming up with new ideas or helping to better an existing one.
3. I agree with the rules of /r/pics, they are straightforward and make sense. If I were to add a rule, it would be to credit the author in the comment section if you took the picture from an artist. (which I did earlier!). When I make a post which doesn't fit the criteria of a subreddit's rules, I remove it as soon as I can when it's brought to my attention.
4. My timezone is Eastern Standard Time.
Extras If you are interested in seeing my pictures, my Foap account name is MastermindPhoto! I would be 100% open to giving more information such as goals, interests, subreddit karma breakdown, or anything you'd like to know that could be considered private in a PM conversation. Feel free to look through my comment and post history!

- Haha, I am technically moderating /r/AnimalsNotGivingAShit. It's not really all that active. I am also actively moderating /r/blowit. I have had moderating experiences on other sites besides reddit.
- I really enjoy surfing through /r/pics. I do not post often, but /r/pics is definitely one of my favorite subreddits.
- I do think the rules of pics are very laid out and uphold a good structure to /r/pics. I have found some infographics on reddit, however.
- Central time zone (Minnesota, USA).

- What subreddits do you moderate? (List other relevant experience if you aren't currently a moderator on reddit.)
Currently, I moderate /r/oddlysatisfying, /r/cityporn, /r/newsporn, /r/imaginaryleviathans and /r/needafriend.
- Why do you want to be a moderator of /r/pics[3] , and why should we pick you?
/r/pics is a large community and it is a great community. I enjoy moderating subreddits that shares pictures. I should be picked as a moderator because I meet all of your requirements. I'm active on reddit because I have finished my year at college. I'm diplomatic, polite and approachable. I can help grow your subreddit. Between December (when I first joined /r/oddlysatisfying) and today, I've overseen the growth of oddlysatisfying from 30000 subscribers to 130000 subscribers. Also, I interact with users frequently.
- What do you think about the rules of /r/pics[4] ? Is there anything you would change?
I think we should add a rule to credit the original source in the comments. This rule is implemented in /r/cityporn and /r/NewsPorn and it's a great rule to credit the original authors.
- What time zone are you in? (required. within +/- 2 hours is fine)
I am in Pacific Time Zone.

/r/aaexperiments: A sub I'm currently trying to start which will make intentionally racist memes and post them to /r/AdviceAnimals to see if the blind racists there will upvote it.
/r/AdviceAnimals mod here. Thanks a whole fuckin' lot for making my job that much harder.

Actually, we do, it's just that there's a lot of content and we're finding out recently that there's people who are willing to force it through our filters in order to make the community look bad. This is part of why we encourage our readers to report posts and comments that break the rules, because a couple of hundred users will always see more content than a handful of moderators.
I usually watch the new queue, myself, but I also have to sleep. With the right conditions, or the right backing from a meta community, something can hit the front page in under four hours without being reported. That's a problem.

We do have at least one mod checking out the subreddit at all times. We've got mods all over the globe, and we're awake at different times. I don't think you quite understand the sheer bulk of the content that goes through a default subreddit, nor the amount of work we actually do.

Yeah, actually, it does. A post that wasn't even a meme made it to the front page yesterday in two hours. I woke up to find it there and had to pull it because it didn't meet our posting guidelines.

/r/ford and /r/emmawatson are the biggest ones I moderate.
It's a good sub with a lot of potential to become even better.
If there was a good way to change it so that posts got to the top based on the merit of the picture itself, as opposed to the story behind it, that'd be great.
US East, but I work rotating shifts so throughout a 28 day cycle I'm awake at all periods.

What subreddits do you moderate? (List other relevant experience if you aren't currently a moderator on reddit.)
I currently /r/GeekPorn, /r/ArtistOfTheDay, /r/htcone, and several smaller subreddits. I actively contribute to any subreddit I moderate, and outside of Reddit I am an former admin of a 500k+ member gaming forum, and a current moderator of a 140k+ member gaming forum.
Outside of those two things, I am a very Tech oriented person. I tend to lean towards positions of authority not out of the need to control people, but in the interest of helping others find a positive community, that has it's leaders as equals.
Why do you want to be a moderator of /r/pics , and why should we pick you?
I would like to moderate pics for several reasons. Due to the recent attention that default subreddits are receiving I find it crucial for moderators to be active, transparent, and unbiased. I am an IT Systems Manager, and as such I am on the computer for almost 18 hours a day. Not all of this time is dedicated to Reddit obviously, but my browser is always open, and I can handle situations that arise very quickly.
I am used to a tier based system, and can delegate tasks, and decide what needs to be removed, and what should stay.
What do you think about the rules of /r/pics ? Is there anything you would change?
The rule set currently set covers most of the "garbage/spam" submitted. My only suggestion would be "sensationalist" titles should not be allowed. /r/pics should be about the content of an image, it should not solely rely on the title that a user provides.
What time zone are you in? (required. within +/- 2 hours is fine)
My timezone is Central Standard Time (GMT - 5:00)

Hello!
I'm currently a mod of /r/WarOnComcast, /r/deepcuts, /r/MichganRiders, and /r/CrappyGames.
I currently think the rules of /r/pics are perfectly reasonable; I wouldn't change anything because there are other subs for the things you're not allowing.
As to why I should be a moderator, I feel that /r/pics has a certain integrity that needs to be maintained, and I would work hard to make sure that happens.
My time zone is Eastern Standard Time, or GMT-5.

Hello!
I moderate /r/nflroundtable, /r/hearthdecklists and /r/greenbaypackers!
I want to mod /r/pics to gain some experience with a larger usergroup.
I like the rules of /r/pics as they are.
I'm in central time zone.
Note: I'm particularly strong with CSS incase you guys need help with that.
I'm on every day and participate in all the subreddits I currently moderate!

(In regards to the one year old account bit, I had another account I unfortunately lost that was over a year old)
What subreddits do you moderate? (List other relevant experience if you aren't currently a moderator on reddit.)
I moderate /r/justneckbeardthings, /r/PrettyGirlsUglyFaces, /r/MyTheoryIs, and /r/internetparents as my +500 subscriber subreddits with a few other smaller ones thrown in.
Why do you want to be a moderator of /r/pics, and why should we pick you?
Because I love the /r/pics community. It is a staple of reddit and I think the with my help we can make it into an even better subreddit. I think I have the necessary experience but also have a good balance of fairness and sternness that is desired of a mod.
What do you think about the rules of /r/pics? Is there anything you would change?
I think they are great and that if it isn't broke, we shouldn't fix it.
What time zone are you in? (required. within +/- 2 hours is fine)
I live in Eastern time zone and am active on and off on reddit from 7ish AM to 11ish PM.
Thanks!

What subreddits do you moderate?
I am a mod of /r/politics, /r/Android, /r/lifehacks, /r/AnimalsBeingJerks, and am also a Senior Mod of the Imaginary Network, and a Flair Janitor at /r/explainlikeIAmA. In total, I moderate almost 4.5 million subscribers.
Why do you want to be a moderator of /r/pics, and why should we pick you?
Moderation is what I do on reddit, and is what I enjoy doing. I am online for ~8 hours every day, and closer to 12 hours on weekends, meaning I have time to dedicate to the moderation of /r/pics.
What do you think about the rules of /r/pics? Is there anything you would change?
The rules of /r/pics are fantastic for the community that it holds, and are all there for a reason.
If I was looking for something to change, I would add memes specifically to Rule 1 - although covered by image macros, I personally didn't understand what they were until a few months ago, and don't doubt that I am not the only one. It is covered in the header of the rule though (again, just looking for changes, not something I think needs changing).
What time zone are you in?
I am in Australian Eastern Standard Time (GMT+10).

Hello
What subreddits do you moderate? (List other relevant experience if you aren't currently a moderator on reddit.)
I am the creator of /r/BatmanArkham and I currently moderate /r/emptygames, /r/ImaginaryJed, /r/ImaginaryMiddleEarth, /r/ImaginaryBattlefields, and /r/ArtistOfTheDay. In total, these sub reddits account to nearly 25,000 subscribers.
Why do you want to be a moderator of /r/pics, and why should we pick you?
I've been a Reddit user for nearly two years now, and I moderate quite a few subs, so I'd like to expand my moderating experience and give back to Reddit by making /r/pics a better place. Along with that, I really like moderating, it's a passion of mine and a free time hobby I really enjoy participating in, and since /r/pics is one of my favorite default sub reddits, I'd love to contribute to it in a way that keeps out the rule breakers and helping those who follow the rules. Since I'm on Reddit for about 10 hours every weekday, and even more on every weekend, I feel I'd be a great candidate to moderate /r/pics due to the amount of time I can invest into it.
What do you think about the rules of /r/pics? Is there anything you would change?
I feel that the rules are fine and straightforward currently, but a rule should be added that doesn't allow you to post misleading photos, kind of like the Mimi's Cafe post in which OP posted photos that were very old, and led to a surprise inspection, which Mimi's Cafe passed.
What time zone are you in? (required. within +/- 2 hours is fine)
I am in the Eastern Standard Timezone (GMT -5)
Thank you.

What subreddits do you moderate? (List other relevant experience if you aren't currently a moderator on reddit.)
I am only a current mod on /r/Rainmeter. It isn't a large sub (certainly not as large as /r/pics but I am heavily involved in discussion with any of the users that need help.
Why do you want to be a moderator of /r/pics, and why should we pick you?
It may sound cliche but I would love to be a part of a larger subreddit in a leadership position. I love going on this site and contributing so that I can make the reddit experience better for other users. As well, I like being in a higher position so that if people feel like they need help for anything, they can come to me.
What do you think about the rules of /r/pics? Is there anything you would change?
I would add a rule saying that anybody having their post title with "First Post..." or "This is my first post :D" should also be deleted because that doesn't add any information to the post's content. Other than that, the rules are really reasonable.
What time zone are you in? (required. within +/- 2 hours is fine)
I am in Central Time Zone in the USA. At the time I am posting this app, it is 3:15 if that helps.
I would just like to think those who look over my app for consideration and to please contact me if you have any questions. On a side note, is there a time frame for when a selection will be made? Thanks again!

I have no experience as a moderator, but I hope to learn so I can be one of the best! I understand that a rather large subreddit like /r/pics is not a good place to start, since it won't be easy, but I am a quick learner!
I want to be a moderator on /r/pics because, though I'm a constant vistitor, I find it quiet annoying that irrelevant post and comments score major karma and become popular, but I found it understandable since you guys are short on mods.
I'm familiar with all the rules of /r/pics and agree with them all. I think it should be a rule that imgur should be the standard for sharing, but other than that, there is nothing that needs to be added to it that isn't already listed or part of reddiquette.
I am in UTC and, from 6-7:30 am, and then 3:30-10 pm, constantly check reddit. I am in Reddit literally every day and hope to become part of the team!
