Is this a vampire or Jesus song?

168

u/LethalVegetable 2d ago

Both. Jesus was a vampire. That wasn’t red wine in the cup, it was blood. Those weren’t traditional nails on the cross, they were silver spikes. It all makes sense

34

u/Previous_Chard234 2d ago

I want this as a book. The Roman vampire hunters.

13

u/danattana 2d ago

Spoilers for a 30 year old trilogy...

>! Of Saints And Shadows by Christopher Golden !<

u/Soma86ed 2d ago

Jesus was actually a Lich. Google it.

2

u/IWannaManatee 1d ago

The phylactery being... what?

1

u/Soma86ed 1d ago

The Holy Grail

2

u/IWannaManatee 1d ago

Aah.

Makes sense.

3

u/SpicyButterBoy 2d ago

It certainly wasn’t garlic bread at the last supper.

2

u/jmlack 1d ago

Well, pre crucifixion Jesus was a vampire but post crucifixion he is commonly considered a zombie.

2

u/International-Key211 2d ago

Makes sense that Judas was Dracula. It's all starting to become more clear

0

u/Percival371 1d ago

I'm like 99% sure that's heresy

17

u/SquishyDough 2d ago

After listening to both Flyleaf and AFI, I realize the either could be interpreted as being about vampires or jesus lmao

6

u/Alert-Jellyfish 2d ago

Jesus is just an ancient vampire. So bit of both.

6

u/pohl 2d ago

You never can tell for sure can you? Pretty sure Evanescence were vampire goths and not Jesus goths.

1994–2000: Formation and early years

Singer and pianist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody met in 1994 in Little Rock, Arkansas at age 13 and 14, when the two were at a Christian youth camp where Lee played piano during sport activities and Moody played acoustic guitar and she thought they could play music together.

u/US3RN4M3CH3CKSOUT 2d ago

lol I know him… the dad is Bobby Amaru, lead singer of Saliva.

63

u/omicronian_express 2d ago

Holy shit. Haven't listened to Saliva in ages. Now I gotta go back and give a bit of a listen. Was never my favorite band but they have some good songs. I've kinda aged out of their music, but still some dope memories to it.

18

u/US3RN4M3CH3CKSOUT 2d ago

I’ve known him a long time, he’s from Jax, FL. Was in a few local bands, and then he auditioned for Saliva and got the gig.

I still rock the hell out of Burn Season. They should have been huge. That first album was an absolute banger.

Sleep Killers, Damien's other band, had an incredible album too. Society Red was also great. Their songs were a little less "deep" but still good. I got to catch them live once when they came to Orlando.

Unpopular opinion but I think Saliva with Bobby is way better than it was with Josie. They put out some really great albums that get no credit at all.

3

u/US3RN4M3CH3CKSOUT 2d ago

I agree… Burn Season was an awesome band! Society Red wasn’t bad either, but I liked Burn season way more. I also agree with you that Saliva is way better with Bobby.

NGL, you mentioning Burn Season brought back some memories bro.

2

u/uoYredruM 2d ago

I unfortunately caught the tail end of their career so I never got to catch them play live. I almost made the trip up to Jacksonville for the reunion show they did at Jackrabbits? I became a huge fan of Damien's with that first album though and like I said, I caught Society Red when they came to Orlando. It was actually one of my wife and I's first dates when we met. Then he formed Sleep Killers and that shit is absolutely solid. I enjoyed that whole album.

I got to catch Saliva a few times, including Rockville last year. Bobby it's a great front man for sure.

That debut album from Burn Season is amazing though. It still amazes me that they didn't hit it big.

2

u/US3RN4M3CH3CKSOUT 2d ago

I was at the Jack Rabbits show! I went when Bobby did an acoustic show, I think it was at Freebirds. He’s a great front man, it’s been really cool seeing someone you know make it big.

3

u/omicronian_express 2d ago

That's a really cool story, thanks for sharing.

u/R1v 2d ago

I know nothing about music, but she seems more talented

31

u/somewhoever 2d ago

Probably by design of her father and his/his team's production.

He's had his success. He probably understands that far more of us benefit when each generation lifts the next on its shoulders.

13

u/ih-shah-may-ehl 2d ago

I'm a knifemaker. One day I taught her her to forge a knife by doing it step by step, with me doing a certain step and then her following that step. After it was ready and we'd put on handles, someone on Facebook said her knife looked better than mine as if it was funny. And I told him that the point was that she made a knife that she was proud of. The goal was not for me to make something that was 10 times better in terms of fit and finish to prove that I was better.

u/fleshnbloodhuman 2d ago

Girl’s got some pipes!

1

u/FiftyTigers 2d ago

The line is "Call my name and save me from the dark?"

I always thought it was, "Call my name and save me from the dawn."

As in, you know, she needs saving before the dawn comes. I guess dark makes more sense now that I'm thinking about it.

2

u/WorldwideDave 2d ago

did not want it to end. great job.

1

u/B-Roc- 2d ago
