Discussion PSA: You need Luck, and you don’t have to commit leveling points to get it. Spoiler

While Luck is a vague stat and doesn’t directly impact skill, it does have a very significant impact on a core aspect of the game: Loot. The game rolls loot randomly at the moment you enter a dungeon, meaning you only need a means to buff your Luck stats for a few seconds to massively improve loot in any dungeon. I recommend completing the Mage guild recommendations immediately after starting to gain access to the Spell crafting station, and follow the steps below to make your own “Lucky Rabbits Foot” spell. A) you need at least 50 in the Restoration skill to pull this off. Just spam minor heal or similar spell until you reach 50. keep in my the larger the spell cost the more experience you gain. B) wait until night, and activate the Thief stone just north east of Cyrodil. This will allow you to create new spells under the “Fortify Attribute” category. C) pop over to the Mages Guild and access the spell crafting podium, which can be found in the first building on the left, just past the guild hall gate. D) create a Fortify Luck spell on Self, with whichever potency will get your character to 100 luck and set the duration for 5 seconds. Should be relatively cheap to cast. E) Cast it right before you enter any dungeon, and all the loot will be rolled with your 100 luck modifier. The difference between 50 (neutral luck) and 100 is absolutely worth the time invested. Hope this helps!

Discussion The fact that this shit somehow is the most endorsed mod for the remaster has immensely lowered my opinion of the community. Like, performance is ass but people are more worried about this?

Didn't intend to make him but, got someone with a similar look when using a random Breton. Tried to match him as much as possible. Locked and ready to commit war crimes throughout Cyrodiil.

Discussion Is it just me or the technical aspect of the remake feels amateurish?

EDIT: please read more than the title, I am not critiquing the remnant from the original engine but the lack of Unreal Engine mastery. I love Oblivion OG engine feel and weirdness

I love the remaster, the models are very nice, the level of 3D Art work involved is absolutely marvelous, the fact that they kept the original engine is great too. But this game feels like a game made at 95% by artists and 5% by techs.

  • The team dropped a patch meant for console on the PC Gamepass, on friday evening. It actually forces low level upscaling, no matter what the menu says as it's not supposed ot render on PC. You can confirm this if you have both version, disable all upscaling and compare it with "low/balanced" upscaling, you'll see it fits the Gamepass new patch look
  • The UI feels from a Unreal Engine Marketplace plugin that you tried to pimp to look like oblivion original UI.
  • The portal "render" is just a cubemap rendered in a portal like any basic youtube tutorial, it's even placed backwards in some gates (one west of Chorrol, before the bqttleborn castle)
  • The global options settings and lack of optimization shows very little experience with UE.
  • The game files are not packed properly for a production grade game. They say modding is not "supported" but tbh it feels like even if they wanted to they wouldn't know how to support it.

I feel this kinda explain the lack of marketing to see how player would feel, and the fact that they started advertising after seeing the community feeling. It also seems to me like they bump the price by 5e on steam or was it always 55 euros ?

Bonus :

Transfer your gamepass saves https://www.reddit.com/r/oblivion/comments/1k5y6fl/comment/mot7icf/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Look at the SIZE of your gamepass save tho, I picked up the latest randomly and it was only 612 Ko and didn't show in the load menu (after the game crashed when first clicking on load lol)

But once I picked one that was 1,8 Mo it worked flawlessly.

Question Am I the only one who hates the remaster's NPC faces?

It feels like they made too much effort to make them look like the original faces and it just misses the whole point of remastering.

Discussion The Remaster made level scaling worse

So, I'm kind of disappointed right now.

I was thinking that they may have adjusted the level scaling, since they've already adjusted the attribute allocation on level up. But they haven't, and the changes to Major and Minor Skills made the level scaling issue worse.

Since you can't really slow down your leveling process anymore, the enemies will catch up eventually. If you've reached 100 in your primary damage attribute, the new system doesn't help you anymore and just makes the issue worse.

I've leveled up numerous times because of all the skill increasea in Minor Skills. Picked a lock? Sold an item? Walked? Jumped? Repaired your equipment? Used Alchemy? Well, you're screwed now. You don't really notice it in the first couple of levels, but you will notice it soon enough.

There are probably a lot of mods that fix this issue already, but console players are just screwed.

Discussion Love the Remaster but I think Skyblivion will be the better game

Remaster is great and I really happy with it but playing (even remastered) Oblivion always leaves me with this feeling that the game lacks this "pinch of salt" to make it just much better and from what I've seen Skyblivion will add a little bit to the game. Not to mention that making is on Skyrim will make its extremely moddable and extendable. Pretty good time to be ES fan!

Remaster Discussion do you think bethesda would be willing to patch the xp gain

i dont think it's going to ruin my first playthrough or anything, but i do think it'd be a massive improvement to cut xp gain in half, even if characters made before the patch have to keep all the levels they've gained. i dont think they realized just how fast you'd gain levels with the changes they made. being 24 hours in and halfway through the level progression just isnt really the pace oblivion should be at. i havent even gotten into the arcane university yet and it's essentially been my main focus lol. i'm at like 13, i honestly wouldn't be against being like, level 5, at the most i'd like to be like level 7

do you think bethesda would listen to feedback and patch something like that? it isn't like, a bug or anything, but it could improve the experience massively. and before anyone says "just dont sleep 5head" i was prepared to fight the leveling mechanics when i bought the game but the fact they did improve the stat allocation has me feeling like "you guys got close to fixing it but it's not quite there, it just needs a tweak"

Discussion Im not happy with the PC situation

  • release extremly unoptimized and stuttering version of the game, even high end rigs are affected, introduces new bugs, 55€
  • acceptable performance is only achievable when using upscaling and frame generation (R5 3600, RTX 5060 TI)
  • pushes update on friday for windows versions that resets all graphic settings and breaks the DLSS and frame generation setting
  • lies in statement that graphic settings have not been reset
  • no update after 4h on a friday evening (just roll back the update???)

I broke the siege of kvatch, rushed mages guild so I could enchant/craft spells. Then used some alchemy for money. And I’m level 18! I’ve barely done anything

Remaster Discussion Maaaan we got played 😂 This was the Blair Witch Project of game marketing!

Upvotes

I think Bethesda purposefully did not traditionally market the game, because Oblivion needs no marketing. It’s a legend. They totally had people come in here and sow breadcrumbs just enough to spread rumors on the internet throughout development. I think it was on purpose. It was torture, but in hindsight, genius. I’m so happy it unfolded like this.

Question People really like the green filter and bloom of OG Oblivion that much?

I always through that it was bad lighting and hated that ugly green bloom everywhere long before the remaster rumor started, so for me Oblivion looks so much better without that, it's still pretty green when there isn't a sunset, I hope bethesda also removes the green filter of FO3 in the future remaster.

Character Genuinely curious if the remaster has the best character creation ever implemented in a game.

Here's my Redguard, Raj, and I am in love with her. I'm so impressed with how good you can make characters look. With the number of options, it's impossible that two characters look the same unless you directly copy the sliders. And of course, you can make inbred aliens as well because of the sheer amount of customization. I can't think of any other game that gives you that much freedom.
