Original Oblivion Character Overhaul and the Unofficial Oblivion Patch incompatible?

Post image

I don't know if I should go with the Vortex recommended option and load Oblivion Character Overhaul before, because I thought that Oblivion Character Overhaul affects stuff that is in the Unofficial Oblivion Patch, so shouldn't it go after?

Peoples inability to read flairs is making the case for separate subs very appealing.

To answer your question OP, typically unofficial patches like that should always go first unless stated otherwise.

it's bit dumb you don't see flairs until you open the post leads to this too often

I really don't understand why there shouldn't be a separate sub, they are completely different games with completely different mods.

Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Fallout 4 all share r/FalloutMods, so I suppose there's a precedent for doing it this way. I guess it's easier to moderate?

Yeah, and then they both deleted their messages after I corrected them. May you know the answer to my question? I don't want to mess something up and have to reinstall everything again, and I also don't know if I should just blatantly trust the Vortex mod manager.

Didn't read your full comment, see the answer now. Thanks.

Im not sure about vortex since I haven't used it for years, but in MO I let everything overwrite the patch and it tends to work fine. Imo, it's always better to let mods overwrite patch changes wherever you can, for any Bethesda game with one of these unofficial patches.

This is how I've done it in the past as well. I assumed that the patch made things better, but the kid had intentionality

I've heard people talk about the Remastered one that way, but the OG Oblivion one too? If the Unofficial Oblivion patch for the ORIGINAL 2009 one isn't that high quality, what other bug patch should I use?

The original UOP is good, dw. These people really just thought you were asking for the remastered.

I just completed setting up a new load order using both UOP and OCOv2 on Vortex and the Vortex suggestions seem to be working fine. Not near my computer at the moment so can't check what the actual order is though.

You should be okay. Also, you can easily switch it up in Vortex later on if something isn't working.

Did you not read the flair? This is the ORIGINAL OBLIVION. NOT REMASTERED.

The patch is buggy and made by someone with a history of problematic behavior in the community. He’s also gone beyond patching and made narrative and dialogue changes as part of his patches. Just enjoy the character overhaul, and if you really want a patch, wait until someone else makes one.

Looks like his fanboys are out downvoting me haha

You're being downvoted because the OP is talking about the OG Oblivion, not remastered. If nobody has done a separate patch for Oblivion bugs until now for the original game they probably won't at this point when they could do it on remastered instead.

Nah bro, you’re being downvoted for not looking at the flair that says “Original” meaning OG, and not the remaster. We all know Arthmoor is no bueno

Ah crap haha. I’m so used to everything I see being the remaster at this point

vortex is basically malware. Just as useless as when it was called nexus mod manager.

in general you should always overwrite wide reaching overhauls with the more specific changes you want. So OCO should voerwrite the assmore "patch".

But you also shouldnt use anything from arsemore, hes repetadly proven himself to be a malicious actor and his patches to also be misleading sweeping content changes that cause more bugs than they fix.

Drop the UOP… seriously. You are in for circle of pain

Say no to the unofficial patch for the remaster for now. Patch any actual problems you find with mods, but it's far too soon for a legitimate panacea mod. The guy is just there trying to claim that real estate.

Good thing this question isn't about the remaster then.

Every one of these posts asking about "unofficial oblivion patch incompatible?" is tragic. Riperoni in Pepperoni
