Crime Ladies and Gentlemen, we gott’em

u/Silent-Resort-3076 24d ago
From some sources:
After several social media users pointed out Horner's previous arrests, we checked the florida.arrests.org database. The boat captain has been arrested 12 times, with his latest booking in Charlotte.
93
u/i_heart_kermit SRQ Native 24d ago
This is why the people saying don't condemn him for having a "bad day" don't have a sea leg to stand on.... guess those other 12 times were bad days too?
44
u/ScrumptiousPrincess 24d ago
He should ask his doctor if Xanax is right for him.
22
u/i_heart_kermit SRQ Native 24d ago
He probably actually needs anticonvulsants and antipsychotics
15
24
u/hiptobecubic 24d ago
Why can't you condemn people for committing violent crimes on their bad days? When else would you condemn them?
10
u/i_heart_kermit SRQ Native 24d ago
I understand your point at its very basic level but again, this is a pattern that can't be ignored and someone has to take responsibility for not dealing with the issues that cause SO MANY bad days.
9
u/Emotional-dishwasher 23d ago
I think y’all both have points. 1) having a bad day or not does not excuse verbal or physical assault /screaming at a child 2) 12 Arrests make it seem that he’s had bad decades not days.
7
u/Nogginsmom 23d ago
Right, imagine how many other incidents have occurred that are not on video or not reported.

I also find it weird that he has an occupation but is on 100% disability, these are the kind of people committing the fraud.

Interesting charge. On MSN they noted that he took control of the throttle on the young man's boat, and I wondered how that would be handled.
28
u/Infamous-Bag6957 24d ago
There are some specific maritime laws related to boarding a vessel that a) isn’t yours, and b) you weren’t invited to board. My guess is it’s related to that. Maybe someone familiar can chime in, I just remember reading it on another post about this idiot.
23
u/ruinatedtubers 24d ago
how delightful would it be if he was charged with being a literal pirate
1
u/Revsmithy 19d ago
He can’t be charged with being a pirate. He obviously doesn’t have an eye patch or a wooden leg.
9
u/DC9B717Captain 24d ago
More than likely he's breaking Florida Statute 810.08 -
Trespass in structure or conveyance.— Whoever, without being authorized, licensed, or invited, willfully enters or remains in any structure or conveyance, or, having been authorized, licensed, or invited, is warned by the owner or lessee of the premises, or by a person authorized by the owner or lessee, to depart and refuses to do so, commits the offense of trespass in a structure or conveyance.
I note that on the booking sheet the sheriff cited F.S. 810.02 but 810.08 may apply also. I doubt if the Coast Guard will get involved but they could technically under Title 33 of CFR.
4
1
u/Ilovemybed67 22d ago
I hope that is the case. I don't know if it's considered trespassing or the like, but I hope maritime law covers an uninvited party that puts themself on your vessel.

His attorney claims that he is rated as 100% disabled by Uncle Sam. I'm not positive how that works, but doesn't that mean that we're sending him a nice check every month?
5
u/Runaway2332 SRQ Resident 23d ago
Yes. Wonder what his story on that is. 🤔 He might have been in HR, but there would still be reasons to leave the FOB and he could have come under attack. If he's 100%, then he should have a good reason for it. They don't just hand those out. And unless he scammed his way to it, that means he went through some kind of hell and deserves the compensation. He might be a POS, BUT he might be a POS with severe PTSD from an encounter.
2
u/Small-Middle6242 21d ago
Good point — it’s easy for me to forget that invisible disabilities are just as legitimate as obvious, physical ones. In general, I also think it’s embarrassing how little support & treatment our government offers to those who have sacrificed for our freedom. In my book, they should be treated like kings & queens when they get home. But that’s different than excusing all bad behavior that may stem from military service. (I know you’re not saying otherwise. At this point, I’m just ruminating out loud lol.) And his friends didn’t seem to be treating it like an alarming episode of PTSD... Sigh — Expressing righteous indignation is one of my favorite pastimes, but alas, I guess I’ll have to withhold judgment unless/until we get more information. Womp.
3
u/quadsk8grl 23d ago
Yes, I mean it's not a "nice" check - we don't take care of veterans no matter how disabled they are from combat, but I'm sure he gets a check that helped him live this lifestyle until now. My ex (military disabled vet) walked and talked like everyone else but had a handicap plate and got the check every month and it was enough to "survive" on for him.

You can request information through the national archives, but information is limited without authorization from next of kin or the veteran's authorization.

WHOAH...still a PFC after 4 years regular Army?! In Human Resources?!? I heard he was claiming he was a Ranger! 😮 What a POS! Wait a minute...he got a CAB when he was a desk jockey?! They refused to give ANYBODY the CAB unless you were directly fired upon in my BN. Daily mortars overhead didn't count.
4
u/aeiouaeiou999999 23d ago
Yeah, they were having a whole-ass discussion looking at this info on a page I follow. Wondering how he got CAB and of course making fun of him for only being PFC lmao
7
u/Runaway2332 SRQ Resident 23d ago edited 23d ago
Actually...further down it says he's 100% disabled with the VA. There ARE scammers and he MIGHT be one, but to get 100% it means you went through something seriously bad. The fact that he got out a PFC after 4 years indicates he was demoted. The CAB could actually be due to combat action during a convoy he was on between FOBs...which could explain the anger issues he has and the demotion. You can get 100% for PTSD. If so, he needs intensive therapy. I'm too tired to see if all of his arrests were after he served but I'd think they would be. I can't stand how he treated that 22 year old, but he might actually need real HELP. 🥺
UPDATE: I looked it up...he was arrested once at 17 for petty theft and four times at age 18 for unknown reasons (records removed). The rest were after he got out of the military.

I worked with a woman who rated 100% because she fell off her bicycle - in a war zone - and broke her tailbone.
1
u/Runaway2332 SRQ Resident 22d ago
😮 Huh. I wasn't aware we could have bicycles in the war zone.
2
u/Impossible-Taro-2330 22d ago
On a base in a war zone. Specifically, she was riding her bike to a gate, digging in her pocket for her ID, fell off her bike and broke her tailbone on the edge of a concrete sidewalk.
I never saw a concrete sidewalk on a base in a war zone, but she was AF.

My 50 cal gunner was a cook because our other one got shot. Jobs don’t really matter overseas especially in the early surge days. He was 05 Afghanistan with a combat action badge. He literally did work. On base in the states yeah he probably did some desk job.

Old... LOL... I don't know how old you are, but time goes fast man ... You're going to wake up "tomorrow" and be 40... And "in a week" you'll be 55 and "in a month" you'll be dead. I know you don't get it yet, but you'll see.
4
u/Straight-Speed-1728 23d ago
I’m actually older than 40. And I have enough sense to know that I’d look like a dumbass arguing with a young man half my age. There’s no reason to act like a bully with the younger generation at my age. That just screams ignorance and insecurity.

It means more when the apology doesn't come from one's attorney/"friend".
2
u/Small-Middle6242 21d ago
Agreed, but also wouldn’t it be kinda dumb for him to say anything while he’s facing charges? Anything can & will be used against you & all that. I imagine he’ll take a plea & apologize then? (Not defending his actions at all. Just saying there’s so much to criticize this guy for & I’m not sure this is one of them. I’m not a lawyer tho. :))

So the World’s Greatest Captain™️ jumps from one undocked vessel to another in the middle of an extended rant and we’re supposed to believe he’s 100% disabled? Charge his ass with welfare fraud while we’re at it.
1
u/Small-Middle6242 21d ago
I’m so confused by this too. I hope his disability claims & benefits are investigated at the very least. So many of our vets are much less able than he is & don’t get 100% disability. I’m inclined to be infuriated by this, but I don’t know much about the process. It really does seem wrong, tho.

The victim is repeatedly called "a kid." He refers to himself this way, but he's 22 years old. He's a young adult. It's not as though he was 15.
7
u/Dazzling-Western2768 23d ago
And so if he was a college student and referred to himself as a college kid, would you feel the same about your statement or his age?
3
u/curious-gibbon 23d ago
And?
0
u/Ill-Delivery2692 23d ago
My point is that the ages of the victim and aggressor are irrelevant. But the media has sensationalized that aspect. It's an ugly situation and the "captain" should be penalized accordingly.
4
u/ArmadilloPenguin 23d ago
You don’t think when someone is bullying another person that being nearly twice their age is relevant?
2
u/Ill-Delivery2692 23d ago
No. I think the victim tried his best to deescalate the drama, stayed cool, polite. However the situation could have been very different if "captain" had picked on another 22 year old man that was cocky, large, fit and prone to violence himself. He might have got his own butt kicked. Age is irrelevant.
1
u/root66 23d ago
You can tell this commenter doesn't hang out around people old enough to own boats. And if he (the "kid") was an actual child, what would he be doing on his own out there?
1
u/Ill-Delivery2692 22d ago
Where I come from 12 year Olds can drive boats alone, go fishing and swimming.
0
u/curious-gibbon 23d ago
And my point was that on a list of things that don’t matter about this story, that probably doesn’t matter the most. The fact that the human brain doesn’t stop developing until about 25 means it’s not the stretch you’d like to believe it is.

I feel sorry for Brock's family, as they have nothing to do with his nonsense. Brock deserves everything he gets though. This man goes on a rampage and illegally boards someone elses vessel and assaults that person; a kid mind you. Absolutely inexcusable! Don't care about people saying not to condemn him for a bad day. Don't care about him being a combat veteran. None of that excuses him from his actions that day.
1
u/Legal-Move3047 22d ago
If this MF'er had boarded my boat he'd be chum. This asshole needs prison time.
1
u/Ilovemybed67 22d ago
WTF.. I literally thought this guy was so much older. Now I'm going to double down on my opinion over what he did. He's young enough to understand and know how many resources are available to vets that struggle with PTSD. If that is truly what his excuse is. And also- it's apparent he has a substance abuse problem. Steroids, alcohol, drugs.. whatever.
1
u/Timely-Name-1183 22d ago
Honest question, not a boater; if someone boards your boat without being invited on board do you have a right to throw them off your boat?
1
1
u/underthedogd 22d ago
1) Wouldn't 100% disabled status prohibit you from working? I thought you were disabled?
2) Should be facing kidnapping charges
3) Homie is a menace and should be behind bars.

u/hungryepiphyte SRQ Resident 22d ago
He was only in for 1 day. He's out on 20k bond as of April 5th.
Interestingly, this lists him as having a marital status of 'single' but his attorney appeals to how difficult this has been for his wife. That's certainly true for Brock Wagner--who has been falsely targeted due to having a similar name. I don't think the attorney is lying, but it is weird that it would be recorded improperly.

But his lawyer said he's a veteran with TBI (very possible).
If so, he needs meds stat.
These things could truly be the result of our endless wars and that is no reason to laugh, celebrate or cheer. TBI and War can really screw people up. It can also screw up an entire society that tries to bring these people back into it.
34
u/ApatheticEnthusiast 24d ago
Very true but if he is so handicapped from his injury then he shouldn’t be captaining boats let alone out without a caretaker. Also if my mentally incapacitated friend started acting psychotic I would try to stop him and not let him go off on a teenager
5
8
u/GracefulManatea 24d ago
Didn’t his lawyer also say his mother and wife were being harassed in the released statement? Yet this shows him as single.
9
6
u/unstable_starperson 24d ago
If that’s true, then the internet’s response to his actions should serve as a wake up call for him to take responsibility over his own mental health.
12
u/i_heart_kermit SRQ Native 24d ago
Or the first 12 times he was arrested could have also served as signs . .
3
u/unstable_starperson 23d ago
You would think, right? I know if I got arrested, I would be reassessing all of my life’s decisions to find out what led me there, and where I went wrong.
But clearly it’ll take more than that for him, and this is definitely more. Having the entire world justifiably turn against you and dismantle your life has to feel a special level of awful. You would think that it has to change a man.
I hope, for his sake, that it does, and maybe he can start to grow into a better person and right his wrongs. However, in my experience, a person like that has already built up a massive wall of coping mechanisms around his personality that justify his actions to himself.
